Server Wipe?

Hey everyone!

I have been playing since 2014! and I have been ON and OFF from maple for months and years but I have seen the servers
progress and lately or in the past few months the server has been getting less active, more players is just afking cause of lack of content/things to do.
You could argue for "just make an alt" but if you've reached any high levels on your main and you got decent amount of mesos, you pretty much are already set,
you have everything or almost everything and there's no challenge anymore, and since the server has been up for so long and it's getting so late game,
most people have everything and just TALK/SOCIALIZE or AFK, and I think one of the ways to make the server more attractive is to WIPE the server completely, I mean
you or everyone els have spent alot of time, reaching your goals, so you can call it a waste of time but logging on to do nothing is more of waste of time in my opinion, and it would almost be
more attractive for new players to join and possibly increase the servers activity/players, anyways this is just my opinion,
BUT one thing that is for sure this is just going one way and it's not gonna like this forever if nothings been done, I suggest an full server wipe, and I have been here for 4 years.

I know you can't please everyone, some people aren't gonna support it and that's understandable!
But I'm sure most of us want to do something instead of do nothing or "farm" for mesos.
Imagine starting all over again, everyones noobs, helping and leveling from scratch,
ugh that'd be great!

You'd have to be some really selfish prick to be wanting a server wipe according to your reasoning. So yeah, you've already achieved all your end game gears and items. Game too boring. Game too dead. Everyone Ayy-Eff-Kay. What about the rest of the population that's actually striving and working hard towards their next goal; people that are constantly farming, selling leech, doing HT in hopes of finding the funds to upgrade their gear to the next level and to find ways to somehow scrounge up that 10b to upgrade their gear by 1 atk. Please do try to look at this from all angles before you post something as meaningless as this, because right now all you're doing is sounding pretty ignorant, and making it seem like everyone needs to cater to your needs.

Selfish? we all can easily see where the server is going, and yes of course people are working to achieve their goals but MAJORITY have already reached their goals and just play to play cause there's no other good servers out there, that got the potentional this server has. The server has been up since 2014.. This is several years of progress, there is NO FUN in farming for money cause you got no other option, whats fun is to play WITH friends, level together.
For example, check FM right now, see how many people selling/buying items and count how many afkers there are, and look back a few months/years if you played that long, if you still dont see what im talking about then there's no hope.

And adding a second world would just SPLIT the population so that's definitely not an option, there is one answer and that is just to wipe, some people are gonna be MAD, but it wil keep the server progressive, more people wil come, some wil go, but the majority would start from scratch, you might disagree right now but you wouldn't once you get started, atleast you got something to do.

Added: Also the fact Carnival PQ was just added makes a wipe even better, one of the better PQS for low levels and it's fast and fun.

 

Okay, I will be the wet blanket here. Your proposed solution to make the server more attractive to people by wiping it is has some flaws in them. Here are my reasons I why I don't support it.

1. The Second Great Wipe
If this plan is greenlighted, this will be the second time we got a server wipe. If I never heard of MapleRoyals before and I wanted to relive some old-school Maplestory days, if I saw this server has been wipe more than once, I will be discouraged and probably look for a new server. You might say this is the last server wipe, as a newbie I would still be cautious and look for a server that seems more stable. Here one account of a new player being fearful of another server wipe. 2. The backlash
You are not the first and nor the last to suggest this, every time when there is a poll or suggestion regarding this, the majority of players are against it and say they will quit if there is a server wipe. What is the point of gaining potential few hundreds of new players when are you already lost the majority of current player base?

3. Doesn't address the issues

Issue 1 - Explanation of the recent drop of the population.

You know the majority of the player base is within the range of college, university, work and starting a family age right? Of course, if you been here for a few months it looks like a lot of people has quit when actually for many, especially the USA and Asia region, school break has ended and now is the exam period.

Issue 2 - Socialising and AFK is bad?

Isn't one of the main draws of the game is the social side? Pretty sure, many of us have fond memories of us making friends with random people. There is a reason why Nexon introduce mini-games, guilds system, party quests, and "balanced" class system when an effective bossing team needs the support of Dark Knights, Bowmaster and Bishops.

Issue 3 - Lack of content/challenge

Now you talking about a valid issue, you could suggest and proposed to staffs and community new content that are from the pre-big bang era (Elin Forest/PQ, Pink Bean, Neo Tokyo, Kerning City Mall, Taiwan Night Market, Thailand, Golden Temple, Malaysia, Dragon Rider PQ, Ice Knight PQ, Kenta PQ) or post-big bang compatible content for the server (Lion Heart Castle, Monster Park, Destroyed future Henesys/Perion/Ereve)

For increasing the challenge, reduce exp ratio, introduced more dynamic boss mechanics so they stop being damage sponges (damage reflect, casting physical damage nullify more often, giving fertilizers to Krexel so it can being so lazy in its attacks), encourage players to fight tougher bosses like Grandpa boss and Toad etc or decreasing mid/end game weapon and chaos/white scroll drop rate.

 

To be honest, I'd rather favor a new world than a wipe. Yes, we have support for multiple worlds.

 

And yeah alot of people would and wil say they wont play if there's a wipe but believe me alot of the people saying that is just saying it cause they dont want a wipe, if it happens Im sure alot of the people stating that they wont play is gonna be playing anyways, cause alot of the people here doesn't really do anything els which isn't a bad thing but there wil be people saying so and STILL PLAY.

I mean you could argue with that people have other things to do, but this is in no way increasing the playerbase, there is only becoming less and less players for every month that goes, I have been here for long enough to see that myself, and yeah it varies from month to month, no doubt.

Socializing and afking isn't a bad thing but most people doesn't want to farm hours upon hours to get that "perfect" weapon, cause ONCE you get it, what are you actually gonna do with it, it's just endless of hours farming for something worth alot but isn't really gonna do you anything, and afking wil always be a thing wether the server wipe or not, but there is alot of people afking that's for sure, more than it should be, afking could be alot of reasons.

Well, I meant lack of content as in people rarely do PQS, or level anymore, it's mostly leeching, so it's not lack of content just lack of people doing the content you guys have to offer.

 

Second world is better than no wipe but still I feel like it would split the community and eventually kill it, either you go ALL IN for server wipe or just slowly kill the server

 

This wipe discussion was previously discuss on here. It's not SOME people think that the server wipe will be bad as you can see on the poll. It's many. 161 people opposed the server wipe, as opposed to 52 people who agreed for server wipe.

Let's say we have a server wipe. Thinking there is a possibility of another server wipe in the future, many player would be very discouraged to play on this server. Especially to those potential long-term players which we need dearly atm.

Even we have a server wipe. It would be same case as we are in now in several months. People will eventually reach end game by then. Are we gonna keep asking for a server wipe? It would be endless loop.

 

Well it wouldn't be this bad in a few months this is several years, and if you can't see that people are falling off cause of boredom, then it's cause you dont want to see it, wether this suggestion gets through or not, this thread wil always be here and it would be funny to see, all the players not agreeing there is only one way to "revive" the server and that is to wipe, it is an MMO yes, but changes needs to be made, I have played here since 2014, I have also donated, this is for the servers best and I personaly would want to have fun from scratch, and actually play the game.

And you think a wipe would scare people away from playing? If you're thinking long term then you would want an wipe, there wil be no long term as it is right now.

 

If you want a server wipe because you played for too long and have nothing to do, I'd rather suggest deleting all your characters/accounts and starting fresh with 0 funding like any other newbie.

If that's not feasible and you want everyone else to start from scratch with you, I'd say that's bit selfish and maybe it's time for you to let go of the game as it can no longer meet your needs.

Making the server more challenging and slowing down the process would be a better solution for next generations to come. There needs to be a flow. We shouldn't expect early generations of players to stay here forever but rather encourage newer generations to get attached to the server.

 

Me deleting everything is no fun if everyone els has everything, I'm positive most of the people not wanting wipe logs on everyday to do almost nothing cause it's just how it is at this point yet they're scared to lose their progress, but imagine in a year when there wil most likely be even less players, I wonder how far people are willing to go before they want to see it.

 

Mapleroyals peak time I believe was right before the New Source came out. Back then, the server has been opened for at least 3 years. We had 2k players online daily during peak time. Few months or serveral years. The server no wipe term isn't the issue here. I don't think lack of content you said is the issue also. Compared to old source, we were given out many other end game content. Yes our population is decreasing but your "boredom" reasoning isn't the main cause of this issue.
One of the main reason that Mapleroyals and other high ranked maplestory server do so well is "stability" aka no wipe. Name any high GTop maplestory private server high ranked that has wiped and is doing well. You can't because there is none.

You keep saying "wipe is only solution". It really is not.

 

Your logic is flawed. Wiping the server will immediately and effectively kill the server instantaneously. That's what everyone is trying to tell you but you can't seem to get that into your head.

 

My logic is server based, I rarely play maple but when your server is starting to look like its high rates even tho its low rates and playerbase is dropping, it's about time to take the hint.

 

Yeah I can't speak for other servers or how they are doing but no other servers has been doing as good as royals but it all comes to an end, And I speak facts no bullshit, Server wipe or not my point wil be proven sometime.

Edit: Have spent probably over a 100$ on this server, Have about 5 characters over 130 and have pretty decent gear on all of them. Probably a few thousand hours in this game. Still would love a wipe.
