Welcome to the "Advanced" Guide to Mr. Pickall's Gambling Game! 9000008.png

Brief Description: Mr. Pickall is the "Master of all Lock-Picking", and in MapleRoyals, he is a gambling npc.

Mr. Pickall can be found here:
    Maple0000.jpg
In Kerning City, next to the Subway Station near the Bottom-Right.

The game is fairly simple, you first talk to Mr. Pickall to initiate the game, like so:
    Maple0001.jpg

Then you pay 100,000 mesos for a chance to choose a box from 3 possible selections of boxes, in the colours of Blue, Yellow, and Red.
    New Bitmap Image.jpg
In each of these boxes contain a random surprise, you can get 200k mesos(100k mesos net profit), Nothing(-100k mesos net profit), and Losing 50k mesos(-150k mesos net profit).
New Bitmap Image (2).jpg New Bitmap Image (3).jpg New Bitmap Image (4).jpg
Before I get into the "SPECIAL MANEUVER" to actually potentially have better chances this game from Mr. Pickall, let us do some math.

Say you had 1 MILLION mesos, and wanted to try this fun gambling game a couple times, on average, you would lose 50k mesos each time you play this game.

    Mudkipz Math:
    [-(100k*3)-50k+200k+0k]/3=-50k mesos
For those of you who do not comprehend this amazing Mudkipz Math, here's a scenario:
Imagine you played this game a total of 3 times, and have gotten a different box each time, resulting in all possible outcomes.
You pay 100k mesos per game, so you already lost 300k mesos, you also lost another 50k mesos from one of the boxes, and gained 200k mesos from one of them.
This resulted in a -150k mesos net profit, but divide that by 3, and you'll get the average net profit per box.

Here's the special maneuver you have all been waiting for....*Drumroll*
I was creating this plain guide and suddenly dawned on me, hey, how can we lose 50k mesos if we don't have 50k in our inventory? I went ahead and tested this on Mr. Pickall, who seems richer than the Storage Keeper.

Step 1: Put mesos in your bank until you have under a million but above 500,000 mesos(nothing in the multiple of 50,000).
Step 2: Head to Mr. Pickall.
Step 3: Drop bags of 50k mesos(in a vacant channel) until you have between 100k mesos and 149,999 mesos.
    Like so:

    New Bitmap Image (6).jpg

This method works because it prevents the negative outcome of losing 50k mesos, so you also drastically reduce the potential of losing extra mesos.
    Shown below:

    New Bitmap Image (5).jpg
As you can see the in the chat, I lost 100k mesos as an initial investment, and did not lose 50k mesos due to only having 19,539 mesos in my inventory.

Step 4 depends on the outcome of the box:
If you gained 200k mesos: Drop 100k and play again.
If you got nothing: Pick-up two meso bags and play again.
If you lost 50k mesos(equivalent to losing nothing in this case): Pick-up two meso bags and play again.

So, now, if you were to do the amazing Mudkipz Math again:
    [(-(100k*3)+200k)]/3=-33,333... mesos
This is the exact same, but we just took off a whopping
1/3 of the average losing net deficit by using this trick.
This may sound silly, but if you're a major gambler addict and play this 24/7 non-stop with your BILLLLIONS of mesos, this could end up saving you a lot of mesos.

Note: I found myself getting 200k mesos more often when I use this trick, not sure if intended or not, or just plain lucky.
Note to GM: I'm actually not entire sure if this is a bug or not, since it only makes sense if you can't have negative mesos, so if it's a bug, please forgive me, as this method actually doesn't earn anyone mesos, so they can't abuse it(Spare the Mudkipz).

    Helpful Final Tips:
-Know your LIMIT, play WITHIN it.
-If you are in need of potions, you can always give this a try "once" and hope for the best.
    -Don't get addicted.
-Not intended for long-term playing(or you will lose mesos, unless you're the God of Luck)
-Mudkipz is simply amazing and blows everyone away.
-First guide, Mudkipz eats likes for breakfast.

Pretty sure this would be considered exploiting which is a bannable offence.

    pretty safe bet.

if the game only gives +100k or - 100k (winning 200k is +100, getting nothing is -100 because of the buy-in) which is the case when you remove the "lose 50k" option then statistically you're still not going to make money off this game, unless it's disproportionately increasing the "win" chance, which there would be no reason to suspect.

Bet accepted, you didn't even read my Mudkipz math, even with the loss of the -50k box, it only counts as nothing, so you still lose money by playing it. Okay, give me that 100k nx, it's a proper black and white bet you made, I can make a point I extremely dislike liars. New Bitmap Image.jpg

EDIT: Unless you can prove how anyone can exploit this to earn mesos/nx/items

This is not a threatening 'bug' but it's still a form of an exploit.

Exactly, it's not threatening because you can't abuse it. The only fix I can think of is by forcing the character to hold 150k+ mesos before you can start the game.

Think it was like this in old school MS so I don't think it's a bug it was just coded this way. In other word: Smart usage of came mechanics.

How are they "generating" that money? You can't generate anything because it's a gamble. Either you win or either you lose. The chances of winning or smaller than losing.

    It's generated via the NPC
Winning 100k mesos means the NPC creates 100k for you
The exploit results in an NPC giving you mesos that were generated via the gambling system, at the cost of nothing
