Note: In no way is this thread meant to offend Bishops whatsoever. I just want to know what the community's opinion on them.

As a Bishop myself, I feel that I am missing out a lot on Boss runs and such. Supplies are over demands in terms of people needing Bishops in their parties, as most of the time one Bishop per party is enough.

INT gears are unarguably one of the most expensive gears in the game, and let's not forget about Genesis 20.

Despite all these, I feel that Bishops are only needed during leech and as a support in Boss runs. So the point of this thread is, is it worth investing mesos in a Bishop? Or should I save the money and fund an attacker?

I like being a Bishop but I feel tempted to make an attacker class just to make my time in the game more fulfilling.

Yes, I know that Bishop is made to be a support class. Just wondering are there chances of them being viable in end game.

Save money and fund an attacker.

Int gear is expensive because of their dual nature of HP Washing and Mages being so popular. The only reason to fund a Bishop is to either One Shot Skelesaurus within a reasonable level i.e. 185 or get enough Magic to farm whatever it is you may be farming like end game weapons or useful crafting items.

In my opinion, you're much better off funding an alternative attacker because there's only so much you can do a Bishop before things get way out of hand like perfecting Overalls or in some cases, Wands.

I don't really see Bishop as an endgame class. I play it because I can tolerate mindless grinding and selling leech. I like to watch my level and damage slowly rise and don't necessarily mind that I miss out on bossing. Never gone on a zrun on this server before. Some day I may leech my hermit to a respectable level and range but for most people bishop doesn't make for an interesting endgame. Only for some it does.

You are right. The only problem with me leeching my own attacker would means a complete cut off from leech money. Which is a huge contribution of where my funds come about. Which is why I'm hesitating to make one.

Me too actually. Love seeing my character levelling up daily although I do like going on occasional zakum runs with my guild as well. I guess at the end of the day Bishops are just money making machines.

If you take a look at my leeching guide, you'll find that this is definitely not the case. When I'm not leeching, I can easily make over 100m/hour.

If you are planning on funding your Bishop, aim for at least 1130 Magic so you can One Shot Veetrons and Goby Houses because they give astounding money per hour. I can talk more in depth if you'd like, but that'll completely throw this whole thread into a different subject.

The link to your leeching guide is incorrect in your signature. I liked the song though xD.

I main'd one in GMS when dispel, holy shield and heal were important to a fast and successful run.

Not so useful here. Pot costs are petty and most have washed so much that they can easily survive without a bishop.

You will, however, always be useful for rez because apparently buyers have a hard time staying alive at zak.

I find attacker classes a lot more fun to play (lately), but some people just don't, which is fine. Some people find it really fun to level up to 200 on a bishop and have that be the end of it.

I don't really think any class has an advantage over another in terms of viability, what I'd recommend is you just try out whatever you think looks fun, a new character can be a really entertaining thing for a while, and once you get to 75 you can self-leech (provided you can multi-client) and it's really good experience as far as level 130.

Not only is it good for your new character, but your bishop will continue to level up while you leech, so even if you do end up switching back to bishop, you haven't exactly wasted your time on that character (if you stop playing it), and later, you have the option to play an attacker character if you so choose.

Anyway, I think people should just do whatever they find fun and not think too much about 'viability' and the like, maybe Islander is the class for you!

I referred to your guide when I was still new. And I must say it's a very well written guide. I'm at 74 MW'd now. Don't really like Aquarium because of mobility. Do you actually mean leeching your attacker while funding it off from the drops? I am now thinking off leeching and buying BM items with the funds, as that's the attacker I'm going for, so basically I will only start once I bought everything needed.

Heal isn't really much needed here because like you said, HP washing is common here. Only real reason I can see why Bishops are needed for zak runs are for Shield, HS, and Ressurection.

    Yes.

Aquarium isn't great for leeching because Gobies mobs the leecher at any opportunity. I actually prefer Aqua Road maps because you can cast Genesis and still be somewhat mobile i.e. flow down slowly. If you prefer a a nice cycling when it comes to leeching, Ulu 1 (Which makes better Mesos/Hour than Ulu 2) is the map you'd want to utilize.

You can always do what I did and fund yourself some low level Int gear for future HP Washing on your Bowmaster. You'll be knocking two birds with one stone. Just be wise about where you spend them like Overalls and to some extent Earrings and Gloves (I could go on, but I could probably write an entire guide on this subject).

What I'm doing is just slowly building up funds, much like you are. I don't mind that Bishop Farming/Training is really monotonous and I'm not sick of seeing everything in the screen all die at once.

Yes, I do not mind the monotonous and mindless grinds as well. At this point I don't think it's worth to buy Gen 20 anymore because it takes off a hefty amount off my funds. Don't you think?

Like I mentioned to Narutard a little while ago, the first upgrade you should go for if you were to continue funding your Bishop is Genesis 20. The sheer amount of Magic you get from that simple upgrade is leaps and bounds more then you could ever invest in otherwise. This means the difference between One Shot and Two Shot which I emphasize a lot of my leeching guide as well as overall efficiency.

I'll put it this way, if you were to continue not having Genesis 20 and slowly upgrade and farm/leech for about 25 hours as opposed to investing that money into Genesis 20, you'll be losing out in the eend. The advantage is that huge in my opinion. With Genesis 10, you'll be stuck at Skeles and Wolf Spiders until 1250+ Magic where you'll just barely be able to do Ulu Estate 1 (exceptional money making and leech).

If you have the motivation to grind, 1.5b for Genesis 20 is a drop in the bucket.

Bishops have always been my main pre and post-BB. This may get a lot of hate, but one of the best things that ever happened in BB in my opinion was the cooldown on ultimates (and buff to AR?). The simple cooldown made most of the mage population leave, which in my opinion, if you're in it just for ultimates, then there really isn't much place for you. This is of course, very biased.

Of course, pre-BB, and going around and using genesis on everything is always fun. As for leeching, no thanks. It's the most boring thing ever. I once tried leeching someone and had to refund the difference to them after 10 minutes because it was that dull. Unless leech prices skyrocket, which is highly unlikely, I do not plan on selling leech. Leeching my own character is slightly more bearable as I'm getting both the experience splits, but nonetheless boring as well.

As for end game material, I don't think so. Yes, I'm upgrading my gear ever so slowly, but the damage increase isn't even that noticeable. Throw in the astronomical Gen20 price, and it's a deal breaker.

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Pretty sure I can 80% one shot after acquiring Genesis 20. Just thought going cheap by not investing in Genesis 20 might help me with controlling funds but I guess your explanations changed my opinion.

Seeing your recent achievement of getting 1100 Magic (congrats by the way), you should be able to One Shot Ulu Estate 1 with Wizard Elixirs. That map alone can push you to rates you've probably haven't seen before in terms of making money as well as XP.

To each their own. Many people (including myself) would rather take the 5 Int each level than to invest that in equipment later along the line, but there does get to a certain point where your leveling comes to a slow grind that upgrading or even purchasing Genesis 20 is ideal.

It's not for everyone, but I've known a few people that said they swore from getting Genesis 20 to gritting their teeth and ponying up the money.

Near 1200 but thank you nonetheless. Is that map really better as opposed to Skeles? Because Skeles to me is literally a gold mine. The occasional high stats Bowman overall and Spartas contributed as well as GFA 10s. Easily 50m~ per hour minus the leech.

The NPC rate alone at Ulu Estate 1 is 50m/hour and that's not including the Spartas, Pirate Overalls, Pirate Top/Bottom and the 54+ Attack Red Cravens that's go for 125m+.
