NL versus BM

hey.

I have a dilemma between choosing these two jobs!

I have a few questions that I would like to ask and hopefully, someone can give me good and accurate information


1) who can do the higher dmg?
and how much do they actually do with their skills, at lvl 90, 120, 150, 180.

(can be avg or godly funded! it'll be good if I have both info )


2) I like to play solo, so which character is a better solo boss-killer?


3) will NL or BM have enough HP to solo bosses, such as BF, pianus, if they do not hp wash?
and at what lvl can do solo with HP wash and w/o hp wash.

4) is it recommended that I HP wash NL and BM?

I've never made either class before, but this is just what I've read while trolling the forum everyday.

1) If they're only using their own skills i.e. only BM gets Sharp Eyes, then the BM will win. DPS before 4th job will go to the NL, but most people don't consider this an issue because leeching exists.

2) I feel this question iis more or less the first question. Same answer as the first one.

3) No to both classes without washing. You'd have to be at a pretty high level to solo most bosses and survive a hit because back then, Dark Knights were a must as HP Washing required a ridiculous amount of money.

NLs master race.

 

At very low funding, a BM MIGHT be able to outdamage a NL, because their scrolls are very slightly cheaper. Overalls are cheaper to scroll than top/bottom combos. bow 30%s are 15m vs 20 for claw, 60%s are 2m vs 5m for claw. Yes, you saw that right - bow 30%s are the second most expensive 30% scroll (tied with wand) in the game at the moment.

At moderate funding (the amount of money you'll get just from looting monster drops and NPCing them) a NL will do more damage than a BM of even level. As the funding increases to high, the NLs pull further ahead because they get more advantage from each weapon attack than BMs do, so they benefit more from cape, glove, facestompers, etc.

In my experience this is incorrect. I was duo'ing pap yesterday with a NL that was 8 levels under me. He was still using a skanda. When he did not have SE, we were doing about equal damage. When he had SE, he was outdamaging me by a significant margin. I was using Red Ciders and he was using the 12 atk NLC pot. I won't attempt to claim that my equips are any good, but I'm better than using a maple weapon in 13x.

If you're concerned with efficiency killing bosses, you won't be doing it solo. A BM has puppet, which is nice, but a NL can get just about the same effect at BF/Anego/Pap from flash jump and darksight. A NL's avoid is nice at pap and zakum - you shouldn't be getting hit either way at BF or anego.

If you like to play solo, BM's are more of a "support DPS" class - they have decent damage, but their most important asset is to provide the SE buff to nightlords and corsairs. If you won't be partying, you lose out on one of the classes main advantages.

If you were ok with partying for bosses, and didn't have any BMs in your buddy list or guild, you can pretty easily find SE i you just smega for it. BM's need exp too.

Pianus is a horrible, horrible, horrible boss to kill on any ranged class. On a melee class, I would only put one "horrible" in there. No ranged class is going to be able to take touch dmg from bigfoot without billions of mesos worth of HP washing - but you don't have to take dmg from him in order to kill him (puppet, darksight, or just keep him KB'd)

Some (minor) HP washing is recommended so that you can tank the touch dmg from the second body of papulatus, and anego's gun attack in your 13X levels. You'll need over 5k and over 5.3k respectively to do those things. You'll also require 5.6k in order to horntail if and when it gets fixed, but again, that's very little washing required. Maybe 30-40 washes total.

 

What's so horrible about Pianus? I've solod left side several times and duo'd right side as well. There's some pretty decent margins where you can stand "on the body" of pianus and still not punch him as a NL, but you're standing in front of all the blood bombs so you dont end up hitting those instead. (Or you can stand on the portal and use the falling rock for invince frames, avoiding quite a few attacks)

BM's will outdmg Nl's if they have no SE, but it isn't that hard to find SE. The dps charts for ranged classes self buffed would be Corsair>Bowmaster>night lord. Honestly people hype up NL's too much, but they suck without SE. Many people consider how SE worked with NL's to be a glitch. It nearly triples their dmg. That's what made pre bb a bit unfair. I wonder if a Corsair with SI and SE would outdmg an SE'd NL. I see no disadvantage with picking either class. Just pick what's most fun.

 

If a SEed NL uses apple , even SEed&SIed sair won't outdmg him.

Damage aside, they're both incredibly boring to play. I'd say BM are slightly more interesting.

I'm going to quote you on this. Considering your experience you're probably under level 150. Just by looking at the rankings there aren't many bowmasters 150+. Of course an nl is going to out dmg a bm at lower levels, for dmg comparison you only need triple throw to be maxed. For bowmasters it's bow expert, sharp eye, and hurricane.

@Sila fail quote ik cause I can't quote jmmainvi. Imo, the curses + dispel+ attack that kb you from a plat is annoying from pianus. Duoing is nice to have a person handle most of it while the other attacks. I hate killing pianus due to this, I also stand where the rock falls as well!

whoops my bad jmmainvi, I noticed you wrote your level. But yeah you have to consider other skill factors.

 

Yeah, I'm in my 14X levels. I have hurricane and SE maxed, and bow expert currently gives me 5 atk and 80% mastery. I'm not actually sure if the NL I was with had TT10 or 20.

 

my bad then, thats pretty close. Hi Barb. I use to have terrible equipment and I seem to do more dmg than nls just by looking at a dmg line. Now with better equips I seem to do more dmg than nls with se, and they tell me they have tt 20. But thats a little far from how i said considerations.

@thongweiyuan it seems you made your choice. Just to give u some things to look forward to. Flash jump and jump attacking. I love how the stars land.
