There's really no point in One Shotting Skeles anyway. Channels are crowded and they don't make as much money as other areas. Plus, the time it takes you to finally find a channel could have been more wisely spent on leeching at Squids, Ulu City 2 or even making a new Arch Mage and One Shotting Petrifighters.
I've denied everything minus WS leech for that reason so far, since they're the only monsters that I currently 1HKO at level 137/10 gen. Average like 2 full invs of equips per hour there.
Wolf Spiders are still nice. Genesis 20, in my opinion, is worth the extreme price. It's better to spend money on that than upgrading your equips to get an equivalent exchange.
It's decided then. That'll be my first goal after I finish getting all the resets I need for my new character Considering selling reduced price leech if people let my newbie leech at the same time to kill two birds with one stone.
Sounds good. Check out my respond to @Dawn if you'd like to hear some more information on why I think Genesis 20 is worth the price tag or you can always post any other further questions or advice you might have it want.
For mages, who don't have the same issue as mage ulti's are in the 10s of millions rather than the billions how would you go about gearing one up? I'm lost without attack gloves and PGCs to throw my mesos at. While I've started researching prices, I thought it might be better to just go to the expert here. Since you don't need as much TMA to 1 hit petris or ulu (or anything) as bishops do to 1 hit skeles, is it even worth throwing money at a mage? Since earrings are typically focused on int rather than TMA, is it worthwhile to scroll my own fallen leaf earrings? Is perfecting an ele wand of the appropriate element worthwhile, or is it overkill? Scrolling my own overall is certainly beyond my funding at this point, but are godly doros robes worth scrolling in the long run, even though they lose out on resale value compared to common overalls? I guess I just have all these mesos and no idea where to put them. If I had a gen 20 to buy, things would be so much easier! Halp.
I will respond once I get home because I could go on an extremely long drawl about this issue, but check out @Dawn thread about this similar issue. I'm on my phone right now so I won't be able to respond, but since this question seems to be quite popular, I'll make a short mini guide on Mage Equipment Upgrades if there's more demand.
@Plenty long drawl more than welcome. Sometimes I think I like theorycrafting about this game more than I like actually playing it.
I'm rereading your question over and over to get the overall message. I'll probably be using my equipment as an example, but do take in account that Mage gear is not just for Mages. HP Washingb takes a big role in determining both function and price.
I'm wrong about the required Magic to One Shot Petrifighters. You need about the same amount of Magic you need to One Shot Skeles as a Bishop so push that number as far as ~1350. As for upgrades, most of the time, you don't want to invest billions into your equipment unless you have an ulterior motive such as HP Washing or just because you really don't like leveling for your Magic Attack. In the fact that Int is exactly the same as Magic Attack in terms of damage makes funding equipment much different than regular Weapon Attack and the variables can be quite scattered ranging from personal preferences to optimal GP for every Magic Attack upgraded. With that being said, let me explain my reasoning for my equipment. Zakum Helmet Scrolls for Helm Int range from 1-3 with 60% being +2 and costing around 25m each. Unless you plan to continue obtaining Zakum Helmets until you get a really nice one i.e. 19+ Int, you're better off getting a slightly above average one and scrolling it with 60% and maybe White Scrolling it after you've passed all of the first ~4-5 slots with 60%/70%. This will ensure that you have an optimal amount of Int and if you were to invest into a better Zakum Helmet, you'll be looking at investing 1-2B into making that happen. Stop at around ~35. Wand This is tricky. Although this is one place people will consider to perfect, I wouldn't do it because you're limiting yourself to one style of wand i.e. Ice or Fire. Second, Wands do not have much use other like HP Washing and you're stuck with only one other option (Ele. Wand 5 for F/P, Ele. Wand 7 for I/L). You might want to go +3 with 30% then finish off with 60% (White Scroll) to have your end game weapon. Anything over 180+ TMatk, and you're looking at the billions. Earring Perfect this if you're serious about Mages. You can go with Fallen Leaf Earrings, but you'd have to get a pretty nice pair (5+ Magic Attack clean) and some really nice luck to get a nice, perfect pair of end game earrings. I went with perfecting Level 15 Earrings because: HP Washing Don't have to farm a long time for Fallen Leaf Earrings Lower level requirement is very appealing Saves time in looking or farming for Fallen Leaf Earrings or even Crystal Leaf Earrings Saves money on White Scroll because you can easily go +3 and White Scroll the rest Personal goal With all of this in mind, I thought going with a Level 15 Earring was an easy choice for me. A absolute perfect earring is only 11 TMatk more than a perfect earring, but that 11 extra TMatk could be astonomically expensive (Upwards of 8b+). Will I ever advocate that +1 Magic Attack is worth 1B? No. Gloves Scroll for Gloves M.Atk gives 6 TMatk per 30% whereas the 60% only gives 2. You want to milk those 30% for as much as possible before even considering scrolling the rest with 60%. If you were to consider perfecting any kind of Mage Equip, Gloves would be a good choice behind Earrings. Try and get your hands on a Red Marker, Yellow Work Gloves or even regular Work Gloves as they can be used to HP Washing as well. Shield Your shield of choice should be a Maple Shield. I'm aware that a Maple Magician Shield gives +2 Int, but the level requirement is 64 which means you'll be losing out on a lot of HP Washing and it's only limited to Mages; No thank you. It's a bit strange that the scroll for this shield is only 5 TMatk for 30% and 3 TMatk for 60%. The margin is very close so getting a decent amount of 30s into a shield and finishing off with 60s is much better than perfecting a shield. Besides, you're better off using that money on Earrings, Gloves or a DPS character. Ideally, you want a 30+ TMatk shield because anything above that and you're staring at billions. Eye Accessory Eye Masks are not cheap clean and 60%s only give 1 Int. If you're feeling real, get 2 30% to work on a mask and finish it off with 100% Eye for Int. Shoes Just get a godly pair of Blue Jewelry Boots from Bubblings. A Lukless Mage can wear these with no problem because a Zakum Helmet and Silver Deputy Star along with their 4 base Luk can wear these without any issue. Optimal number is 6+, but you can get away with 5. That one Int isn't going to make much of a difference. Cape Purple Gaia Capes are your main target, but if you want to HP Wash, try and aim for a 15+ Int Yellow Adventurer Cape for HP Washing. You should never perfect a cape unless you're really looking to tryhard once Genesis 30 comes out and One Shot Petrifighters becomes a thing. Overalls This is a bit tricky. Overalls are some of the most expensive equipment to scroll and for good reason. They give the most Int per 30% of any scroll and they're relatively low level. You could reason with me and say that perfecting an overall to +50 Int is a good idea, but that would cost you billions. Will it pay off? That's up to you and your feelings for HP Washing. Ideally, you want a 25+ Int Overall. If you plan on going for a Doros Robe, aim for 30 Int, but keep in mind that you're limiting the use for that overall for just ~+5 more Int. In my opinion, just stick with a regular bathrobe and invest that money into Earrings or Gloves. Maple Leaf If you're making a Bishop and aiming for One Shot Skeles/Ulu Estate 2, spend all your Gachapon Tickets into Showa Gachapon for a chance at a nice Int Maple Leaf. If you were to put a price tag on an Int Maple Leaf, this should be obtained right after you get a Zakum Helmet. Genesis 20 Here's a chart for Genesis. In my opinion, Genesis 20 is very much worth the price tag because the difference between Genesis 10 and 20 is about 100 Magic. Once you have all your other equipments at a decent range, go for Genesis 20. Lemme know if you have any further questions.
Just wanted to thank you for that awesome guide. As a bish, I didn't knew where to stand when attacking, but this guide is so complete that it answered all my questions. Nice job on this.
What do you suggest? I can't really think of much else to add unless I make an Arch Mage and try out some other locations.
Recommendations on equips. Would be good if you could add some tips on what to focus first since if you are selling leech its more likely that you didn't start funded. (Looking forward to this since i just started to make a Bishop for HS/moneymaker purposes)
Doesn't really pertain to leeching because this can be an entirely separate guide. I gave people the choice to pick Mage Upgrades as my next guide, but that choice didn't get too many votes as you can see here: Right now, I'm focusing on the Mastery Book guide and seeing as @Katsuruka already revamped the Guide to MapleRoyals, I'll be hosting another 'Next Guide Poll' and Mage Upgrades will be one of the choices.
I'm planning on updating this guide with ToT monsters and Montrecers once I get Genesis 30 or an upgrade on my gear. Please feel free to post your own findings as well.
