Some people in this thread need to get their heads out of their asses.
This is 2014, people. Acting like a tough guy on the internet has lost its touch quite a while ago.

    On topic:

    - As said before, GMs cannot monitor different languages, therefore it is completely reasonable to expect a single language being used.
    - From the moment you join this server, it's your responsibility to read the rules (and follow them). That way, you'll never get banned. Quite simple right?

Uhh... Is it just me, or did this guy not read what David said? He's saying that the staff can't control SMEGAs in foreign languages and that the current rule is fine as it is; basically what you're saying, too, except that you're being stupid for not reading the entire thread before responding.

@hastaelfinal, please do read the entire thread and its responses before responding yourself lol.

Edit: Dustin pls y u ninja me

Since none of that is English I'd assume you technically would be able to get banned but I doubt anyone would ban you for it.

Freedom of speech doesnt mean you can say whatever the hell you want, whenever. If you yell bomb (or fire) in an airport, you're gonna get in trouble. If you harass someone such as a police officer, you'll get in trouble. Of course, websites are allowed to set their own rules as well-

If you want to be completely technical read below:
    http://lifehacker.com/5953755/what-...-speech-and-how-does-it-apply-to-the-internet
Freedom of speech, along with the other freedoms in the first amendment, are designed to protect the liberties of the populace against an oppressive government that would seek to squash those rights in its own self-interest.

when it comes to freedom of speech on the internet, there are two truths that are almost universal:

Most spaces on the internet are privately owned, and have no obligation to allow you to speak freely in their space. Whether it's Facebook removing content that violates its own terms of service, a blog owner deleting a comment they find offensive, or a big company deleting user posts from its Facebook page, your speech may be censored, but you have no first amendment right to free speech in those places.

Most companies know it's in their own best interest to allow you to speak freely on their platforms. When you hear any company say "we support/stand for freedom of speech," what they really mean is that by honoring your freedom of speech, they know they can successfully build a community, attract users, attract views, attract advertisers, and make money. They may truly value free speech, don't get us wrong, and most companies know that success means taking the bad with the good, but that doesn't make it your right. They just know it's in their best interest to say they value it, and act accordingly.

Basically, we're a private group and we're allowed to decide what we want to "censor" and not. We're allowed to request you to speak a certain language, or refrain from using certain words. That includes derogatory, discriminatory or defamatory things.

Thankyou sila, for saying that which I couldn't be bothered saying (I had a post half written out, but didn't bother finishing it). If you're going to throw around terms like "freedom of speech", please understand what it means first, it's extremely frustrating to see people throwing around phrases and ideologies without the foggiest idea what they actually mean or what context to use them in.

Just gonna quote on what iCeci said but to make it more clear. Can I get banned for saying something that makes no sense and that obviously doesn't look like any form of other language? Basically I'm not speaking english but nor am I speaking any other language.

    If I can't get banned by that then I am making a secret code language to conspire against MapleRoyals staff. 01011000 01101001 01101001 01101001 00100000 01100001 01110010 01100101 00100000 01110100 01100001 01101011 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01101111 01110110 01100101 01110010 00100000 01110100 01101000 01100101 00100000 01110111 01101111 01110010 01101100 01100100 00100001

By the way is binary language bannable?

    Possibly. Either that or spamming.

And the same for that. If you want to talk in secret it would be advisable to whisper people instead.

It's true childern. If you harass (or are openly critical of) someone with a certain authority you will get into trouble regardless the situation.
