Thanks in advance to anyone that helps. So Basically I’ve decided to create a new character and I wanted something I haven’t played too much in the past this is the reason why I’m choosing a pirate and I have some questions. 1) How are buccaneers after the last update? Can they boss well (what tier would you put them in?), and how are they at grinding at high levels (if they have any issues because of the lack of utility like teleport, flash jump and rush). 2) I’m aware that corsairs are great at bossing but what I wanted to know is how are they at grinding cause even though it’s slower I really like to spend my time doing it. 3) How much are both classes reliant on HP washing with the HP quest? If I have about 60 INT from equips is it enough to not invest stats into int and to AP reset later because I don’t like at all leeching my characters it kind of ruins the game for me. Thanks again for anyone that helps and I hope that I posted in the right forum section and didn’t have that many grammar errors.
1) they are actually really strong now. but im not too sure abt the overall ins and outs since i dun play bucc 2) idk i dun play sair either lul 3) by right, u shld be able to play without washing at all but, u end up relying on hb anyway. for sairs usually people wash more. for bucc, they have a high natural hp so its fine to not rly wash but since u hv int gear i wld suggest lvling up while wearing them to give urself more flexiblity with endgame so u can get more hp if u rly want to.
1. Buccs are okay now, they are not useless like they were before but in terms of DPS corsairs are still a lot stronger. I'd say they are kinda average (both in bossing and grinding) 2. Corsair is pretty much a pure bossing class, I never really see any of them grinding. You have 1 strong mobbing skill (battleship torpedo) but using the battleship to grind is rather awkward due to it's slow movement and limited HP 3. Buccs don't need much washing, with around 100 total int you'd have enough to get decent HP to tank most bosses. Sairs on the other hand have low HP and need a lot of base INT and AP resets to wash.
Oops my Bucc is level 122 and has 90 total INT, but has been building up in INT gear since I was low level (because I was poor and slowly accumulated INT gear so I had around 90 total INT by level 90 or so). Would trying to reach the 100 INT mark with a few more base INT and gear be bad? I sort of just reached random INT marks because I know buccaneers don't require washing, so I haven't really done the math, but right now I have about 1020 extra MP from my minimum, which according to the Bucc guide would equate to 2520 extra HP. Is it too late now or am I fine?
It should be enough to tank shaolin and bigfoot, though I'm not entirely sure about the toad boss. And getting base INT now won't matter much since you'd probably reset it all at level 135 anyway
I've read a bunch of HP washing guides, and most don't cover this, but technically I don't need to reset it all at 135 (I have very low base INT so it won't matter much I'd think in terms of damage), and I could keep wearing INT gear when I level and continue washing past 135, right?
Not sure if you've accounted for it, but you can also do the water from the spring of life quest for an extra 1k base hp, and get black belt (+300 hp) and ergoth's bane (+500). And yeah, wearing int gear on leveling past 135 is pretty normal.
Thank you everyone for the help! I think I'll make a buccaneer since you say it isn't as bad as it used to be and it seems a bit more interesting since there are less of them.
I think bucc is the right choice for you! Sair grinding is.. a pain. They're the weakest 2nd job in the game, their 3rd job takes a while to get going but then it's not too bad and their 4th job skills aren't that great for mobbing. In boat you move at 80% speed and can't climb ladders so you have to dismount to move and you can't use bullseye either so it's easier to just boss the entire time. They do get both their nifty movement skills in 2nd job though which is pretty good.
Well actually I thought it'll be fun using the elemental attacks for 3rd job and air strike + rapid fire for 4th to grind, but yeah there are also many skills I'd really like to try on a buccaneer. I'm soon going to make it really excited about it, and thanks again to everyone that replied!
Buccs are more interesting than Corsair. They have a nice combination of attack skills, and transformations. Corsair's Battleship is strong and effective, but you move very slowly while on it. Also, the lack of a useful party buff (no Speed infusion) puts you at some disadvantage, as well as having less HP (no hp increasing skill like buccs get at 2nd job). But in the end, play what you enjoy. Some people would say Corsairs are better. I just say what I think.
