    I was never in favor of balancing, especially the balancing from the last update. It's gonna be a long slippery road downwards if we're not careful. Heck I did not even expect MM's to be "buffed" back then, now there's no line to be drawn

    I will be in favor if there's a problem

    Like a mage meant for bossing dealing damage less than intended
    But I don't think arch mages need any roles in bossing currently

    Let's not make INT stuff more expensive

    I for one wish archmages to be more involved in bossing scenes.

    However, saying that even if AMs' 1v1 skill get buffed and Targa/Scarlion have an elemental weakness. I would rather pick other classes to be in my party because they simply do not bring any useful skillsets to the table.


    However, they do have one skill if adjusted could make them viable to bring to a boss fight.

    Imagine being able to temporarily disable Zakum from casting stuns or Scarlion from spamming weapon cancel, similar to White Knight's Armour Crash and Dragon Knight's Power Crash skill. :3

    OP: At least make Archmages be strong against Scarlion/Targa.

    I would like to share abit more on the potential archmages has, but for Horntail which is the actual end game boss and players to target to compete in. Period

    Many players says, oh how archmages are weak in bossing, technically, thats not very true.

    If comparison to other classes, such as NL/BM, where Archmages actually shines is their full map Multi target capability,
    Where one should make full use of it, instead of looking at CL/Para or even Fire/Ice Demon.

    This class is really niche, but after involved in creating this Bishop DPS style,
    It is very possible that this class is actually has an even insane potential even without a buff to do crazy amount Work inside Horntail.

    Archmages potentially does more DPS then a BM/Bucc and Sed more efficiently then any warrior.

    Joon, you might ask, wtf are you talking?
    Archmages as an controlled DPS Sed Target?
    Technically i believe not many players actually invested in one other then martin, and wasn’t really useful as a mage DPS back then.
    Where sswis cheese are limited to event base unlike now where CWKPQ is always daily available.

    Of course for this to work, An heavy investment is required, such to wash Your Archmage to perhaps 18.7k HP&Mana, where i feel its the best efficiency where you get 30k/30k after HB
    Probably still cheaper then washing a full fledged 18.7k HP NL.

    With Magic Guard active, you are unable to be 1HP-ed by Horntail, and basically for the entire Horntail fight, you stay at the Bottom of the Boss, where you dont risk walking into head.

    Only to use Hero’s will everytime During Sed + Dispel, which doesn’t occur too much in every 5min interval of will CD.
    (With this you might not even need a healer lol)

    Lets say an investment of 1600 Magic, creating it just like an attacker with a perfect wand.
    After MW, Together with SE, Echo Buff, Sswis cheese.
    Every Meteor/Blizzard Used that hit All targets in Horntail reaches 150k~199,999 damage EACH.
    That easily already does more DPS then any BM,
    lets not talk about the DPS wasted when BMs and even Heros/Buccs/DK falling off platforms and climbing back up the rope.
    Where the archmages just stays at the bottom and Slams the Bliz/Meteor button.

    And of course, 1Hitting All wyvern spawns on the way. Which is an insane boost of Overall dps for the team.

    Overall, this is just an exciting idea that i have increation of Archmages , which are Very Unique and Requires effort and research to be invested to be an possible bossing class.

    That just makes them another form of mule, not actually improving their viability in bosses, (not that they should be made more viable in the first place)

    like this idea, in my opinion, something really good of this game is the variety of chars, thats why i can understand some ppl dislike the idea of "balancing"(they think balancing is making every char the same thing with different skill looks) but u have to remeber, one of the most important things in this game, and one of that made it so big game is, the social part who almost always involves pqing and of course bossing,it is true that almost every char has something good to give in a boss runs, sairs and nls have a godly dps, warriors have a few nice support skills(hb, crashes) and a nice dmg too,buccs got si,bowmens got se,shadowers can deal an amazing dmg too, and of course bishops, "king of mobbing" cant atack a boss, but, the are the perfec support, holy shield, heal, ressurrect, dispel and of course HS, that makes arch mages(and pally maybe) the only jobs completely useless in terms of pqing, i am totally against thatt mages can be top dps, but all of them should be a nice support in some kind of way, fixing this skill , and make it stun bosses for a sec, would be a really nice touch to AMs.for example, i dont play gms in many years, but i remeber, when hyper skills came out, as an i/l arch mage, i wasnt a good bosser in commerci(bosses who drops the damn sweetwater equips) but i haved a skill who freezes the bosses for 30 secs, only that maked me slightly desirable for pt runs....i think we can make something like that here. make everyone usefull in way way or another....

    MP -50, for duration of 300secs, with success rate 60%, returns 1000% of magic damage received back to enemy.

    It would be nice if mages were viable bossing, but that's not the version of maplestory we're playing. Live with it. This the old school maple where mages aren't very strong in bosses, and the only way we get in is being part of a great community (guild/friends/the general community). Except this server lacks the great community (see replies to this thread for evidence) but at least we've got the "aren't very strong in bosses", so we're halfway to that old MS feeling

    JacobSCA Posted the DPS chart, be nice to see Mages on there~

    Exoletus comment was so stupid it doesn't justify a response. He's quite literally never played this game/watched anyone else play.

    iirc from dps charts from before the update, archmages would be around the 170k mark.

    They are pretty high in dps if the boss is weak to their element, just look at Shiratsuyu soloing HH in 40 secs with ice wand.

    I mean, in all fairness my much less funded level 160 bucc can do the same. So being favorable elementally makes them on par with other classes, which I think is fair. Making them sub par/terrible on neutral & residt, & average on favorable

    Now imagine shes wielding a thunder wand, 3x seconds on hh. thats almost like a avg 160 corsair. LOOL.

    i think making some bosses weak to the elements of the arch mages are good enough, maybe allowing ice/fire demon to work on bosses would be plus as well.

    Hey you know whats also not conducive to a good conversation, linking to an article that has nothing to do with this game.

    This isn't FFXIV or WoW or SWTOR. There are no Healer / Tank / DPS classes. Every class is a DPS in Royals, of varying effectiveness albeit. Making out that people play this game without the use of SE / SI / HS / SED mules, that we all struggle together and unite all our unique skills. Instead of someone sitting alone with 3 or more clients open... That's stupid. Unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious, I wait to stand corrected.

    I'd welcome your opinion on the thread even if its just writing something sarcastically like other people have (what I would call "being a dick for no reason").

    I don't know who Shiratsuyu is, but you don't use a ice wand to boss. You use a Wand8 or the equivalent staff. I can kill Kacchuu in about 18minutes and he has a ton of HP. I melt Zakums arms with CL, if you could measure DPS effectively in this game people would understand that in certain situations I/L's are great for bossing. But outside of those niche situations, I'm not going to white anyone, and I don't think I should be able to.

    To get back on topic mages are strong enough as they stand, a small buff wouldn't go amiss. For example bringing them closer to the 200k dps is hardly going to collapse the game as some people are making out.

    Hi Bob, I am indicating that Shira(an il mage) with ice wand could bring down hh in this short amount of time , let alone if she is wielding a thunder wand.

    Gotcha, I just meant I have no idea who that was, for example what level / what magic. However, reading it again, I think you answered the level thing when you compared them to a 16X corsair so my bad.

    Also I thought someone using a wand 7 is kinda mental, as godly scrolled wand7 is weaker than a clean wand8 when using CL. Same goes for a godly8 vs a clean7 using Blizzard.

    So yea, given the right situations, multi target or elemental advantage, I/L's hold their own quite nicely. I would still love Mana Reflection to be 1000% instead of whatever it is now, as it would make bosses like Krexel or Scarlion viable. A much better fix than making every boss weak to mages, which is hardly fair to the other classes.
