What does "spending money on groceries" mean ? Don't guys buy you food and pay your rent anyway ? Isn't that how it works ????? Spoiler: In reality I spend around £70- £100 a week ....
about 40-50 bucks a week, it doesnt sound like much, but keep in mind in peru minimun wage is 300 bucks.. so..
If by groceries u mean food/cleaning/etc etc, we spend at best 1500BRL / monthly. Which would be 375/weekly or something around 90-100 usd. We are a couple with a teenager and we don't cut anything (but ofc we don't eat brie cheese, just mozarela, I mean, some products we do go for the cheaper IF the quality is nice). Like the friend up there, in Brazil the minimum wage is like 250 so this is actually f* up. A regular family, with cuts and etc probably spend at least 600 BRL/monthly (150usd). 4brl : 1 usd moreless.
Same as you, around $40 a week. I only spend money on essentials though. Don't buy anything that comes in a box. Fruits and veggies all day.
I buy a lot of potatoes, asparagus/broccoli, and chicken for my main meals, sometimes rice/beans. Most of my spending comes from buying lunch during the day. Usually get subway on Sunday for dinner though because I go shopping for food monday after school. edit: as far as groceries go- id say average is 35-50/week. Higher if I splurge like this week and get some ground beef for burgers or something.
I didn't expect this many responses Interesting to see the variance in prices, but then again there's so many variables. I found by buying from certain independent shops instead of mainstream supermarkets/groceries I get better quality and cheaper meat, fruit and veg. And making extra dinner for the next days lunch runs me cheaper but also mean I get a really decent lunch with proper meat and veg. I probably eat more red meat and fish than chicken now,
I'm in Canada and spend upwards of $40-50 CAD on groceries a week. I stick to veggies, fruits, legumes, and fish - I rarely buy red meat/ chicken (Yes I'm that monster who microwaves salmon at work). That being said I do out to eat, and drink more than I should which does add up. Need self control TBH.
I feel you. It is the new american way of living. If you notice everyone else is not from america here.
