Maybe not, but more people might look if it stands out more. Doesn't that benefit the purpose of showing off?

Whether people look at it or not is the risk of someone using an Item Smega.

    Lets decrease those risks then.

My opinion on item smegas is that I'd rather we went back to the old-style broadcast system for items received from gachapon and made item smegas an expensive cash shop item for those who want to sell or show off godly items.

Also, nobody has given a valid explanation as to why they think it is essential that these smegas should be forced upon everybody, whether they want to see them or not, so unless somebody has a better reason than "they're supposed to be seen", I'd appreciate an end to this aspect of the discussion. Honestly, I don't see what possible problem it causes anyone else if a few people toggle off gachapon announcements. It doesn't affect anyone else, because if you're the type to pounce on gachers and try to buy from them, you're not going to toggle those smegas off in the first place.

Hopefully the price can be debated, but other than that, I agree full heartedly on everything else.

I should have added that I do also rather like the idea of being able to exchange a number of regular smegas for an item smega, too. Would keep regular smega spam down a bit.

Which was initially my idea of Item Smegas. Giving more value to something that is dropped by every monsters in game while also reducing spam is a win-win in my book.

I was going to say this as well. What's the point of not letting people toggle it off if they're not interested in buying it anyways?

    +1 to Katsu. =)

That's their choice, but who says that Item Smegas have to only be about selling an item? It can purely be about showing off an item without having to resort to somewhat drastic measures like a1 meso store.

She's talking about the Gachapon announcements in this case.

Are you able to toggle off Gachapon announcements?

EDIT: Not that I am suggesting it, just curious. I find that Gachapon announcements shouldn't one of few those things you shouldn't be able to toggle off.

Why? Gach spam is much more annoying an meaningless than smega spam, if I could disable gach but not smega messages I would in a heartbeat.

It's the fact that it's more meaningless is the point of it. It's the nostalgia. Almost all MMORPG have useless features that remind you of the game, they do however serve a purpose but not a big one.

If you were able to toggle of every tiny useless option in the game it would be too customizable and you would end up with 2 people playing the same version of the game but on their screen it would look so different you'd almost think they're playing two different games versions of the game making it so that one of them aren't experiencing the true feeling of what it feels to play the game the way it was designed. I mean just imagine if you could toggle bunch off stuff in a lot of MMORPG that were useless to some.

I don't even care how my pet looks, so pointless, let's just toggle that off. It's just in the way for my screen anyways.
I don't even care how my skill animations look like, they're just in the way, let's just toggle that off.
I don't even care about the dialogues in quests and I'm tired of skipping them. Let's just toggle that off.
I don't even care about game cinematics, I am tired of skipping them and sometimes I can't skip them because the game doesn't allow me. Who cares what the game is about? F*ck storyline let's just toggle that off.
I don't even care about the usual game tips. I already know all of them in the back of my head, they're just useless spam now let's toggle that off as well.
I don't even care regarding notices about making me aware that someone I know is on the same CC now. They're just blocking my view. Let's just toggle that off as well.
I don't even care about who gained a level, someone on the server gains a level every minute anyways. It's just in the way. Let's toggle that off.

The toggle off command on that is more unimportant than the features that aren't that important and are just in the way too some. If it's so useless might as well remove it completely but many people have use it, that's why those features are there. They were intended to be played that way anyways.

Some MMORPG are too customizable. Some are too little. But some are just about the right amount.

What are you talking about? I said I don't like the obtrusive spam messages that flood the chatbox with every second item obtained from gachapon. Item smegas certainly didn't exist back then, and if the gachapons gave messages back then, it certainly wasn't spammy enough to be extremely irritating in my memory. The ~togglesmegas command exists for a similar reason; there's far more smega spam here with the readily available smegas than there was in gms, even on the populated servers.

I also don't understand why you've deliberately misrepresented my post as taking the stance of "we should make the game un-gms like" either, with a large deviation from any useful discussion with your stupid offtopic list. It really detracts from any point you might have been trying to make.

There's a difference. The gachapon announcements are automatic while smegas are announced depending on if the players want or not and players sometimes use them to chat with each other because they have plenty of them and they want everyone to see what they're talking about. When you have many smegas which are fairly easy to obtain, almost to easy so I almost suggest they reduce the drop rate on them. You usually just post 1 or 2 within few hours unless when someone responds to you with a smega instead of a PM, this makes tempted to respond to his response. Resulting in both of you using bunch of smegas within a short period of time. This is supported by the fact that they got loads of smegas where as you only can get 8k NX every 24h but it happens sometimes that you''re not always able to vote exactly on time so you might miss few minutes/hours/days. And I don't know what the probability of getting an items that prints of a message is but it's certainly not that big however there can be plenty of them when someone goes for a 200+ ticket run. This also depends on what gachapon you're using. Gachapon announcement spam doesn't occur as often as smega spam and it's usually not as big as smega spam nor as annoying.

However for as long as I have been here, smega spam has been 50x if not 100x more annoying than gachapon announcements which actually are useful sometimes because you might get interested in the item and want to ask if the obtained item is for sale.

I think the reasons are because NX and Smegas are so easily obtained. I suggest lowering the smega drop rate. And as for gachapon I would recommend a timer btw each ticket. I see people who can spend 200tickets in few a seconds with bunch of announcements saying "X obtained Chaos Scroll".

This will reduce the exposure to spam used by smega and gacha.

So people that don't give a shit about the hundreds of gach messages an hour and people that are actively looking at them to see if it's items they need should use the same solution for what reason? The only concrete reason I've managed to pull out of your ramblings is that you personally don't like people having different options, which makes no sense to me. And gaches like shrine with just chaos aren't that bad, it's places like kerning where there are literally about 8 items there (at least) that set it off. You also seem to forget that your solution is firstly harder to implement albeit trivially (yay more fun timers to deal with!), less logical (why wouldn't a generic ~togglesmegas work for all smega types?) and most importantly it's less beneficial to both parties. Those that are looking for items want to see all of them, and those that aren't want to see none.

Finally, in all of your posts you seem to not comprehend the idea that your way of viewing things is unique to you, and not 'the only correct way'. For example how you're "more tempted to respond" (I didn't understand the rest of what you wrote), how "gachapon announcements are actually useful sometimes" (guess what? Not to me, I don't buy/sell anything these days) and "nor as annoying" (except I personally find the announcements always useless and annoying, whereas occassionally I enable smegas because they're actually people conversing that I may know).

If this discussion is about spam, toggle your messages off.
If this discussion is about how rare the Item Smega will eventually be, me and @Katsuruka suggested that they should be exchanged for a number of regular Smegas so the drop rate shouldn't be decreased and this will bring more value to an otherwise worthless item.
If this discussion is about preference, then this discussion is purely subjective and should more likely be a part of a seperate thread.

Keep it on topic and don't talk in circles, please.

When the hell have you seen hundreds of gach messages an hour so frequently? Let's not exaggerate here, keep it reasonable. And yes kerning city is indeed worse I just showed an example that even a gachapon that usually prints out less messages can also be annoying when someones is spamming the shit out of that gachapon.

I start counter-arguing and you instantly claim I don't like people having different options. Don't put words in my mouth, you don't know me so you can't possibly know what I think. It would be okay if you said that you assumed this instead. Keep the attacks to the idea, not the person they're attached too.

The timers don't have to be long, short is enough to prevent the spam. One necessarily doesn't want to have 0 exposure to announcements/smegas/item smega but rather just don't want the spam. You said that in you're first post that you can't stand the spam but not that you couldn't stand the occasional smega/announcements and my suggestions have been in favor of reducing spam but not take away all exposure of all types of smegas.

EDIT: @Plenty this is still related to the thread because I am suggesting how smega spam potentially can be prevented. Turning in smegas for a item smega will helps to prevent that as well.

Not really. Whether one perceives any Smega as spam is up to them. One person's spam could be another person's potentially useful information. If it's such a problem, there's a toggle function just for that. I haven't seen a feedback thread about Smega Spam so I assume it's not a big issue that should be brought up in a thread suggesting the introduction of Item Smegas.
