But why does it even need to be compared to Horntail Pendants?

Horntail is worth doing even if the pendant is less good. (referring to skill books ofcourse)

CWKPQ is just a fun PQ that happens to have a very good reward.

I just don't think the stats need to be altered.

It worked fine in GMS so my guess is that it'll work fine on Royals.

I don't ever remember them being tradeable.

My previous post in another thread:
It was added in only 10 versions away from v62 (v72 introduced CWK + CWKPQ).
You have to successfully get through the PQ and defeat all four bosses at once, this is assuming that when it's implemented that it's completely polished and working efficiently. Knowing how bugged certain PQs are at the moment, I'm sure it'll be a hassle to get through. Regardless, I think the trouble you go through is well worth it. There are no slots on the MoN so it can't be chaos'd. On top of that: they're untradeable and (IIRC) more or less work like a zhelm (where you can't pick up more than one if there is already one in your inventory/equiped). I don't see what's overpowered about that, they were intentionally set up that way.

Decided to present some facts in here. MoNs were initially tradeable upon release of CWKPQ in GMS. Nexon changed their minds a short time later (next minor patch or two I believe). Here's a screenshot from March 31 2009, less than a month after CWKPQ came out in GMS. Pretty good price for 10watk, huh?

So then staff should just implement the ones that are untradeable?
It seems like common sense to me.
On top of that, that's a pretty good, average MoN since stats on MoNs also varied a lot.

I think with the following changes in mind, MoN's would be a step up from dep star, and not as good as a full HT pendant:
    -Untradeable
-To remove the chance of them becoming affected from the godly system (because 15 wepattk would be OP), the bosses drop an item each.
---To obtain a necklace, user has to turn in several of these items to an NPC. Similar to the broken glasses for Ludi PQ, except it's still reliant on killing the bosses.
    -No slots
-Possible nerf to 5 wep attk / 8 matt (magic attk is worth less in v62 than wep attk)

I don't understand why it would need to be nerfed. What's the big difference in 5 attack that makes it that much more okay? HT any less desired if people don't want to get necklaces, there are still ALL those priceless skill books people are really desperate to have. I'd rather leave it up to the player to decide whether or not they want a fully egged pendant vs. attack. On top of that: HT pendants are, more than likely, going to be extravagantly priced until there are significantly more successful runs. MoNs will just give the player base another option, in comparison to HT pendants.

I do agree that they should be untradeable, work like zhelms (where a player cannot hold more than one at a time and if they so choose to gamble for better stats, they'll be forced to drop their current one) and be completely random in terms of stats, just as anything else in maple works. But I don't think they need to be nerfed.

I think it should be nerfed to the point where a HTP still is better to some classes in some situations. Instead of having an "easier" to get pendant with a lower level requirement being the better item.
The same diff is between reverse weps vs lvl 110 weps. Despite the reverse gear having a higher stats/level req, they still were too OP.
Maybe having it 5 attack average and ranging from 3-7 instead of static 5 att could be something good, then you'd be able to gamble with the pendant. (leaving the godly system out of this)

They could just make the pendant harder to get and not nerf it.

To me that seems like a better option.

That'd change and imo ruin the PQ. It's hard enough as it is, just not on par with HT, which is what the pendants should reflect. getting a chance of a perhaps 3-7 att 3-7 all stats pendant seems good enough as it is. (if 7 att it's better than an egged HTP for sure)

It wouldn't have to alter the PQ.

As Sila said earlier int he thread, the bosses could drop items and several of those would have to be traded in for a MoN.

The PQ would stay exactly the same, the pendant would just require more effort.

The pendants don't need to reflect how difficult they are to obtain either. It's bee said several times in this thread already, Horntail has plenty more to offer than just the pendants, whereas CWKPQ pretty much revolves around MoNs.

Again, they don't need to be nerfed.
    A egg'ed pendant + chaos turns out a lot better than a 10attack 5all stat pendant.
    CWKPQ itself isn't that easy.

    EDIT:
IIRC, you could only CWKPQ twice a day. Even more of a reason it shouldn't be nerfed.

The dragon stone quest to egg the htp is not repeatable.
You can only egg 1 htp ever per char. At cwkpq you can get 8 pendants a day. Even more reason it should be nerded.

I like to think about item comparisons in terms of useful stats. For low-stat classes (bowmen, thieves, pirates, and some warriors), primary and secondary AP are equally useful. My watk:STR ratio is about 1:6. So in this case:

    HTP: 22 primary, 22 secondary = 44 AP
    MoN: 10watk, 5 primary, 5 secondary = 70 AP

There is absolutely NO reason at all to nerf MoNs.

    Horntail's main purpose is skillbooks.
CWKPQ revolves entirely around the pendants.

    You shouldn't compare the two.

As I've said earlier in this thread: the MoN stats weren't OP in GMS, so they won't be OP in Royals either.

Nerfing them would be entirely pointless.

My perception of MoNs not being OP in GMS is because everyone knew that Nexon was going to make something more overpowered eventually. It was expected of them and no amount of community backlash would have changed their minds. We're not saying that the MoN should be downright useless, it should at least be comparable to an Egged Horntail Necklace so people have an option rather than choosing the obviously superior choice.

    Why?

Mages choose to go LUKless because it's obviously superior. Does that mean the Elemental wands should be nerfed too?

That's like saying going Low-Stat for any class is obviously superior so we should raise the amount of stats we need for end game weapons.

Exactly. Why nerf SOME things that are obviously superior and then NOT nerf other things?

Who should decide what gets nerfed and what doesn't?

Simple solution: keep the items in their original state. MoNs were not OP at all in GMS, and that had nothing to do with people expecting more OP items to be released in the future.

The community should decide whether equipment should get nerfed. I'm sure we're all aware that newer content will slowly come through, but not at the cost of maker even newer items obsolete. Through all your posts, I've yet to see any rebuttal on how the MoN isn't OP and I'm sure a lot of veteran people WOULD LOVE to have more tryhard gear.
