So im At Vodoos, been here for 1½ hour ish, training away like a good boy... feel the erge to go to the bathroom, so i go and take a little pp. Comes back not even one dark sight passes, and someone else is on my map telling me to leave cuz he's the map owner. So then i argue with him because i was there first and that should play part right? right? then he threatens me with bans, ip bans and has multiple ppl msging telling me either i leave or IPban. So then i question how this game works.. Powerabusing is something alot of games have. But is it actually like that? as long as they have lvls and people they know i cant hunt somewhere just because they can bully me out of the map?
I understand how annoying it is if someone takes your map, especially if you've been there for a while. However you should understand ~mapowner is important for a reason. The length someone holds a map can be a problem too when it comes to certain things like botting and "hogging". I think its fair since ~mapowner lasts about 3 minutes or so after inactivity. If you took longer than that to go to the bathroom and someone takes over your map, that falls on you unfortunately. And it is bannable if the mapowner asks you to leave and you don't comply.
I understand, but "hogging" as you call it.. when on every single channel there's a mage with a elemental standing there afk day in and day out. i would consider that hogging if anything. But i get it. the system is flawed for the ppl who dont have a toilet at their pc. idk. i just find it unfair but hey it is what it is, now i know how this server is played.
What I meant by "hogging" is, in the past people used to hold a map just to sell it to others who would use it. Or try and hold the map for friends, or as best they can during long strings of inactivity. This also helps to make KSing cases more easily distinguishable. You have about 3 minutes after inactivity to keep ownership of any map so I'd say its fair game overall as it should be. I'm not speaking about specific context though, just the general view of it.
Yeah i get that there's been problems beforehand, but the general view of it doesnt include being getting threats of IP ban when all i did was go for a piss an yeah, it's all fair game and i've talked to the nice gentleman who stole my map and we're in agreeance that it's his map and not mine I still see it as powerabuse tho like i said (due to a flawed systen built on people abusing "mapowner" Just sad to see how it goes down.
No, no. If one could take advantage of being in a map before someone else, anyone can say that they were there 2 days before you hence they have rights above you - which is nonsense. Auto attack from summons don't contribute to the mapownership. If one wants to maintain the mapownership in a summon-afk-farming map, one needs to register a skill macro which goes like [aoe skill] - [summon] - [aoe skill]. If one only refreshes their summons without an active attacking skill landing on mobs, that map's ownership will be left vacant. On the other hand, if the guy who took the mapownership from you afks for over 3min without hitting any mob, you have equal right to seize the map out of his possession. High levels help with nothing in situations like this since everyone, regardless of their level, are bound to the rules of the server. There's nothing to fear, especially high lvls who try to threaten you with their position, if you know the rules in and out. Seeing that you aren't familiar with the mapownership system, I guess you haven't read through the rules in royals. I recommend going through them for your sake to avoid troubles like this in future.
I've been taking my time whilst getting to know the nice gentleman to read up on the rules. Sure "high lvl doesnt matter" when he's full AOE oneshotting the map (which in this case) would lead to me not being able to hit any mobs. Resulting in me being "afk" since im not hitting any mobs, so he could easily push me off the map. Since in order to keep he map i have to actually hit mobs.
I don't mean to keep parotting this, but what part of you keeping mapowner for up to 3 minutes of inactivity don't you understand? So if someone were to come to your map while you're attacking or within those 3 minutes, the map is still yours. If he does come in to attack, he can't take mapownership, but that would count as KS, in which you can report him for it. Regardless of who it is everyone has to hit at least every 3 minutes to keep mapowner if they're going brb and such. Edit: I didn't notice your last line but in that situation, you can definitely report him for doing so if you ~mapowner in time. Like I said, you have a certain amount of time and can still try to hit mobs even if its just a little bit, you'll still keep the map ownership and he can be reported if continuing to attack.
I understand what 3 minutes of inactivity means. and i know that he was ksing me when he got here. but that's something i cant prove now. since im not constantly recording my screen. That's why i said that i've come to terms that i lost the map. fine and simple
How was he KSing you if you were absent at the time the mapownership was taken over? If you aren't present on the map with your mapownership, you cannot claim it. If the map still belonged to you the moment you came back, you could have just hit a mob to maintain the ownership and prevent its loss. Or do you mean he was spamming mage ult at this point to prevent you from hitting any mob?
when i got back he was full on mapclearing, i dont know if i alrdy lost ownership or i was about to lose it. Like i've said, i've dropped the fact that he has the map now. im not mad. im not salty im accepting the facts and i've read up on the rules even though they leave a big "grey area"
Man I think map ownership is something that sometimes we are happy to have and sometimes it comes back to bite us in the ass. Some day you'll be glad it exists when u return to discover an invader and scare him off with your own map ownership. it's better to look at this as a mean to protect against ksing, and ensures that you claim a map while staying active. Imagine going to the gym and somebody has a towel on the machine. He's not around for a while now and he left his stupid towel there and "claiming" the machine while not actually using it. That's stupid and annoying. Imagine someone sitting on a machine while being on his phone not doing a set for like 10 minutes and you be like there standing waiting on his ass..
Damn, this whole mapowner thing is ridiculous. Back in the original maple days, the strongest just ksed people out of maps or if you were on par, just shared the map. Most people were happy about sharing, others weren't but that is there problem. If they mad, they defamed you, its part of the game otherwise they would ks you out with a Cleric if they had one. It happens. CC and find another map and just start killing even if another person is there, they will either learn to share or CC themselves.
