So something interesting happened to me today. Story begins like this, met this dude (shall remain unnamed) who just came back from a 2 years hiatus roughly about 3days ago and we hit it off pretty well. He was level 200 and clearly has very strong gear. So naturally i asked him if he wanted to boss and we did so. After which i added him to my buddy list in hopes to boss with him in the future. Today was the second time we bossed together. We did 2 rounds of vip Scar/Targa service and was having fun, talking while doing so. Here's where it gets interesting. After both runs, he traded me to show me his gear. I was intrigued and i wanted to see. It was a pretty sick gear set which based on my memory consisted of 22wa SCG, 19wa pgc, 19wa FS? and a wa 94 or wa 97 dragon claw. Have no screenshots so you'd have to take my word for it. Then it happened... everything was in the trade bar and i was envying all his gear. Like i mentioned, we were playing around so he ended up clicking confirm trade, wanting to cancel the trade before i confirmed the trade as well so it wouldnt go through. I didnt know this and i clicked confirm trade as he did so. So there it was. " The trade was successful". All that gear i was drooling over worth billions was in my inventory. I didnt know what to do. Long story short, equipped all the EQs to check range and played around a little bit more very reluctant to give it back, but ended up doing so. Was talking to some of my guildies and buddies about it and everyone said different stuff about what they would have done. Part of me wished that i just kept it but, the dude just came back after 2 years, a stunt like this would probably have made him quit for good. I know im gonna be called dumb for giving all those equips back but, who cares. So im just sitting here wondering... what would you guys have done if you were in my shoes with end game equips worth BILLIONS in your inventory on an accidental trade. Note : this was only my second time partying him
Morally you did the “right” thing. I believe the dude should have let you keep one of the pieces of gear for giving them all back. Him not doing so is basically showing you that had roles been reversed he wouldn’t have given them back to you. He is selfish. As a selfless individual your immediate response when somebody returns something lost is to reward them, even if it means losing out some on your end because you could have lost so so so much more. Personally though? I would have given it all back without an ounce of hesitation if this person was my actual friend. 100%. Keeping it is not even something I’d consider. Some randall I’ve partied with twice can kick rocks though. I’d keep it all and likely give a few bil back to the community via a giveaway.
I would have given back to him, because I understand how difficult to get those items, and because of my self-esteem also But he does not say or do anything else after that accident?
Dont see the selfishness you are talking about... Its a pretty weird feeling though, after giving everything back, ive been pushed towards thinking i shouldve kept it. LMAO. Now im starting to think im an idiot for doing what i did.
Right... but look at it from my angle. someone who just joined the server maybe about 2months and is trying his best hustling to get end game gear and this opportunity just presents itself Not the slightest temptation?
For not offering anything to the dude who gave him back like 50b+ in gear that he had absolutely zero obligation to return in the first place.
it's a real moral question, i think no one can ever answer it honestly before they encounter the same situation, i want to think i'd give it back, but part of me knows i might keep it, so really no way to really know, u did the right thing tho op, GJ
jk I'd trade it back tbh If they were trying to drop trade in the fm or something nah, that's mine now.
well, if you took the items, the guy would probably have started some smega drama calling you a scammer or some shit im sure this shit has happened before
Good psychological analisys. bad impersonment proyection.its not necessarily like that, ill put myself in the "giver" role. im a person who wants something i cant have, for example now, i want to buy a perfect spear having just 15b on savings, ill broke my back to get the 9b i still need.lets supose i get it in a week, play with a friend an do the same thing that guy do. 1st step.- ill freak out 2nd step.-ill ask kindly to give my items back, and if he ask to try them, ill just let him/her 3rd step.- he/she gives my items back, im feeling thank ful, but, im still really nervous, so i cant think things true. 4th step.- i want to give him backin some way, but i dont have any money AND i cant give him one of my items took me months/years to having them so i reward him in another way(maybe helping him in everything he needs)Selfish? u can say so but if that items its all i have give a piece of it its give an important part of my heritage. if u lost ur salary lets say 2000dollars, and u need the total amount of money to feed ur 3 children, some ppl find it and give it back to u , u can feel tahnkfull as hell, but its not taht easy to say: Hey! have 700 to u as a thank. u try other ways. yikes
well, theres person who thinks if its not illegal its not wrong, and thats not true. u could keept the items. maked a lot of money, but at the end of the day u were here without goals, and a bad reputation(for some ppl at least) and maybe with ur moral broken(just if u think it was wrong, if someone who read this thinks this is not wrong, ure right too!, moral values are different for every one, but if u feel bad and still do it, ure doing something wrong) Lemme say something from the selfish point of view, that maybe I can make you feel better. u didnt just make something nice. u won a friend a strong one, wich is really important in this game, and maybe if he quits someday, who u think its the 1st person to call for a little something? at least if i was him, when i quit ill give everything to u beside, ure not gonna feel guilty by playing XD
Lets be honest. Obtain ~100bil of assets suddenly as such. Lets just imagine, This guy came back after 2 years. His gears were gone and he ragequits entirely. Your friends question you of how did you ontain such gears, and u explain this story without and proof/ss. How many people will believe in your claim ? Many will just considered you as an Major RWTer that spend thousands of dollars obtaining them and be on the road to the ban appeals. I’m glad to hear that you returned it meantime
If you took the gear and didn't return it your outcome wouldn't be that good If that guy got mad and started smega and post stuff about you, you'd get a bad reputation and be on a blacklist and stuff If he didn't get mad and said nothing and quit it will actually be a lot worse. When people see someone who only played for 1 month having such items they'd suspect RWT, and you'd end up getting banned. Without any evidence the GMs will think you're just making excuses and you'd have no way to get unbanned
Exactly my thought process as well. No one's gonna believe this was accidentally traded to me. Lmao. But if theres chat logs and stuff id be 100% backed up. Just sayin
There are both chat and trade logs and the staff aren’t as dumb as some of our members apparently are lol. People have given away incredibly expensive gear after quitting and the players who received them were just fine. You would have been too assuming the logs add up with what you’ve told us—no doubt.
