I've observed that GFXing while in VMWare does potentially create too much lag which leads to DCing, however I THINK you can get away without gfxing at all in a boss run while using VMware and be totally fine.
Just curious, does the VMware download version matter? Because in Tim's screenshot it shows 6.0.4, but the link that Tim provided led me to 6.0.7 (which was what I downloaded). During installation it did prompt me to software update, but it said the update was for VMware Tools which is crucial so I updated it. Could any of these have negative effects? Furthermore, the crash doesn't just happen upon GFX, I discovered that entering a new map sometimes crashes the game too. What I mean by crash is similar to what a few people on this thread have experienced - a horrid loop of bgm together with black screen and d/c after about 10 seconds
I remember having the same problem when using a higher version. I remember my game dcing after I leave FM or changing maps. After I downloaded 6.0.4 it seems to have cleared itself up. Try using Tim's link and changing the minor version dropdown at the top to 6.0.4.
Uninstalled VMware and reinstalled the 6.0.4 version. Spells seem to work now. However the crash that comes with a black screen and horrible bgm loop whenever I try to enter a new map or gfx still happens. Anyone's found any fix for this? Any way I can try to debug this issue?
Not sure whats causing that issue for you, but I'm running mapleroyals with windows nt 4.0 compatibility cuz it worked best for me. Also did you put dinput8.dll to your desktop?
No I have no idea what dinput8.dll is, hence it's not on my desktop. I'm on windows XP though but isn't windows XP the recommended one to install for VMware by Tim?
Change your card to radeon. One true, stress free, gfx-is-a-myth, vmware-free, spiking-free, lag-free, dc-free solution.
Update: I have now placed dinput8.dll on my VMware desktop, but the crashes still happen. It's random based. I enter 5 portals to different maps and it works fine, but the 6th one crashed. Yesterday it crashed the moment I walked through a mystic door
oh what i meant by windows nt 4.0 was your program compatibility. Right click on ur maplestory shortcut on desktop -> properties -> go to compatibility tab -> change compatibility to windows NT 4.0. See if that works. if it doesnt then im all out of ideas, so Just listen to Venin and buy a cheap amd gpu just for maple lol.
YO THIS WORKS I'm gonna try a HT run and post results here. I've actually seen this answer on previous pages of this thread, but I didn't understand what they all meant. Now I finally do thanks so much
I can verify that AMD gpu's make bossing much easier to deal with. I have a laptop from 2014 that has on-board graphics and I can stay at zakum and horntail without doing GFX for hours. I spent over 3 hours on my paladin soloing zakum without a single graphical issue. I also had compatibility mode disabled and ran it on straight windows 10.
Maybe if I'm richer irl i'll get a AMD card just for royals haha, but as of now... student loans hitting me like a truck...
Trust me, it's not a high-performance laptop. It's some Toshiba Satellite from 2014, hardly anything expensive or made for gaming. But, it runs maple like a dream.
Does the WindowsXp come with some stock antivirus program? Will I need to deactivate anything before downloading Royals?
