So my friend just told me to try out CPQ earlier today after my job advancement at lv30 or so.

I couldn't get it to work initially so I just joined parties down the road.

However, at one my recent parties I initiated some kind of skill from the dropdown menu thinking that the skills would buff my allies and debuff the enemy monsters.

I got called out a scumbag, a jerk and got kicked out by the leader and I am not sure what I even did wrong.... if someone could inform me how this party quest and the skill/summon thing works it would be great.

    Thanks!

CPQ is initially meant to be a competitive game between two parties.
*Traditionally* how it's meant to be played:
Each party enters a room and splits up, killing monsters. In rooms 5/6 the higher leveled/funded characters would go down to kill the rombots while the lower leveled ones would stay above and kill robos. Each kill earns you "Carnival Points" which you can use to summon other monsters on the enemy team, or use debuff skills such as stun, seal, etc. The goal was to earn more carnival points than the opposing team.
There are several things that drop during this PQ. None are tradeable or will last outside of the instance itself. Items that are dropped in this PQ will be used up instantly (except for Maple Coins, for redeeming prizes later)
(However, some of these do not work as intended in Royals).

However, in Royals they currently do not heal party members, only yourself. Loot only if you need, but otherwise your party members might need some too and you could kill them.

These help gain yourself and your party more Carnival Points.

In Royals, the most common thing you'll see is "Free wins". That is, somebody will go in to CPQ as a solo party and purposely lose to give your team more EXP by letting you win. To help this, you need to kill things and summon what they ask for- normally it's Trojans (Hitting F5), or Master Chronos (F12).
Another thing to keep in mind is that in Royals, currently all the mobs that are summoned only spawn in one platform in rooms 5/6. As you gain points, summon more monsters for the other team. Do your best not to die, because currently dying is glitched and so you'll be unable to rejoin the team until the next game if you do, thus also not getting any exp.

Maple coins drop and you can use them to trade in for equipment or spieglemen necklaces. If you're just starting out, I recommend purchasing equipment with it and NPCing them for money. Someone else can probably tell you the best money/coin ratio.

The level 35 dagger gave the best bang for your coin back in the day so I'm sure it's the same in this server as well. The best time to hoard on the coins is when the PQ ended (Last 10 seconds) and just hold the pick up button near a pile of potions and coins.
