After hitting 64 on my Polearm Spearman, I come to figure out that the market has 0 supply of Maple Karstans (lvl. 64 Maple Polearm), and when I would ask a pro if he has any spare Karstans, the response would usually be "no, sorry" or "I only have one, sorry." So I decide to hunt my own from the only mob that drops it Sr. Bellflower Root, but I come to the conclusion that the current system is too inconsistent. I spent 1 hour yesterday hunting for a Karstan but 0 dropped. Today I decide for round two, luckily finding one in 30 minutes, but eventually blowing it with a 70%. With a glimpse of hope, I continued to hunt for a Karstan, but end up wasting 2 hours and finding 0. My suggestion would be that: 1) A new system that allows a NPC to trade the ETC. drops from the current mobs that drop the maple weapons + a fixed amount of mesos for your preferred maple weapon. I.E. The only mobs that drop a Maple Karstan is currently Sr. Bellflower Root. So the NPC would ask of us to bring it a fixed amount (lets say 200) of ETC. drops from Sr. Bellflower Root being 100-Year-Old Bellflower and 500,000 mesos in exchange of a random stat Maple Karstan with the same potential/chaos system it's already using the -5 ranging to +5 stats. or 2) Add another mob for Maple Karstan. 1 mob is unjustified.
this wouldnt be an issue if the drop rate for maple weapons from mobs was more consistent. I spent ~6 hours hunting maple glory swords at that map in the past. I found 1 karstan and 0 swords. I later moved to stone golems and consistenly found glory swords about once every 20 minutes or so. I've had similar results hunting skandas, kandivas, storm pistols, maple guns, and maple swords, but karstans/glory swords from sr. bellflowers was BY FAR the worst. I dont mind things being hard to hunt, but there seems to be no pattern at all to the drop rates of various maple weapons. Some consistency would be nice.
I'd much rather have this system implemented for end game or higher tier weapons if possible. Karstans aren't that hard to get and they get outclassed by Make Snowboards in 6 short levels. Most spearmen go a hybrid route so stick with a Soul Spear or a Blood Snowboard.
That's not true at all. All pre-bb warriors rely heavily on accuracy, hence why maple weapons are most popular and demanding. And you really have to experience it yourself to see how bad the map is compared to the more popular weapons.
Having a bit better drop rates for some maple weapons would be nice, when i was grinding for a skanda at soul teddies it was painful and a very low drop saw 1-2 in few hours grinding.
i second this about skandas. i went to brown bears in mulung to hunt and found 1 in about an hour. now when i went to mr. alli for a top; i found my inventory filling up with maple daggers. in 30 mins i literally had 10 maple daggers in my inv.
I've gotten a Karstan before and also made a Dexless Warrior. I've been able to get all my accuracy all from equips.
You also have the money to buy those equips because you have a 4th job mage to fund yourself with. New players starting out need the boost still. I'm in favor of making maple wep drops even as well. They drop like candy at wild boars but seem to be harder for the higher leveled, more important ones. A little too hard.
All Maple Weapons are set to have the exact same drop chance at the moment, so the only thing I'd agree with is that more mobs drop that particular weapon.
That's kinda odd then, because people have spent hours trying to get one weapon whereas I can spend 10 minutes on a level 20ish char at Boars and get 5 different ones. But yeah, different mobs dropping the weapons would be a good idea too. Especially if there was a decent map to farm them on, unlike soul teddies which are spread out like crazy.
I've farmed at Sr. Bellflower and got one within 20 minutes, but that's not a fair calculation because I'm a Bishop. The spawn there barely passed ~10 per map so it's pretty tough to find anything you're looking for there.
Iirc, these drops are part of the older dropsystem which doesn't mean an equal value in the db means an equal drop chance. The number is more a weight factor per mob, so since boars drop multiple maple weapons the factor of a maple weapon is bigger, inducing a bigger drop chance. Which seems most fair to me would be the sum (over all mobs) of all drop chances of each maple weapon being equal. And probably the same (or close to) amount of droppers per weapon.
Ya i noticed this big time when i went looking for a my maple bow and found a whole inventory full and when we went looking for a maple crossbow for my bf we we found max 5 and thats hunting for 2 days.
