Lately the new meta is having 2 accounts, 1 with a bishop, and another with your attackers (any class that isn't a mage)
I'd say just play whatever you want to :D but if you want to make a cleric eventually and sell leech to make mesos, make sure you make a 2nd account so you can leech yourself in the higher levels as well ;)

I feel like bishops are just so overrated. Having a bishop wont automatically make you "richer" in fact it may even delay the costs of *coughcough (hp washing iwontgetintothatcuzthat'llprobablywanttomakeyouquitthegamebutjustputtingitoutthere) and funding your attacker. Gene 20/30 prices are quite high compared to that of meteor, and Bishops are generally a lot weaker due to the fact they don't have elemental amplification, meaning you'll have a harder time 1 hitting things compared to a mage. One thing about bishops though is that you'll be needed in Horntail whereas mages will never be invited to any bosses ever.

You can make quite a large sum of money going the archmage route, in this case, an f/p mage and self grinding yourself to 120 through misting and eventually after 120, training at ulu, and getting to the level you can 1 hit petris at. (you'll need 1257 tma to 1 hit petris as a mage) Of course, you'll have to make an HS mule on the side but this game is all about time commitment and investment so if you can get past that, I'm sure you'll be thanking yourself later for going through the struggles of making one.

Once you have an HS mule and an FP mage you can start selling petri leech for 140m an hour, and after a lot of soul searching/leech time you can start on the plans of funding your attacker. I think on average 10 atk shoe, 15 attack gloves and a 12/13 attack cape is okayish, and would get you into a lot of boss runs without "begging" so try to make that your goal.

as a general breakdown in terms of attacker class choice

NLs tend to have the strongest damage (really expensive to HP wash)
BM's are usually always needed for boss runs because of sharp eyes, a skill that, without it, NL's would suffer in damage greatly (really expensive to HP wash)
Corsairs are a class that actually take skill to play, and can actually outdamage NL's in some instances where the breaking of your ship isn't too much of a factor. (not really too sure of HP washing sairs)
Bucc-TL mule (fairly cheap to wash)
Warriors- a fun class (fairly cheap to wash)

jk Buccaneers actually got buffed in a recent update so I'm pretty sure their damage is on par with BM's never played bucc or warrior so can't really comment too much about them.

Anyways I hope this helped you, and enjoy grinding! I mean mapling!

Fp stands for firepoison mage, TL is time leap which is mainly used to be able to instantaneously use things again like echo or resurrection without having to wait for them to cooldown. Echo is a damage boost, and resurrection simply reviving someone back from the dead. 2 skills that are really useful in HT. HS is holysymbol which gives your characters an exp boost :) Hope this helps
