Every answer apart from the size one would suffice. Chose last one. Primarily I don't play an up-to-date server because everything after bigbang just sucks. There's no other way to put it
You really like making a lot of polls, don't you? Really, I think you could have options 1-3 and merged them into one, and that option would've summarized why people don't play Big Bang servers.
I hated the map changes when Big bang came out. I hated the changes to the monsters I had grown so familiar with for the past 3-4 years of playing. (I joined sometime in 06 or 07) I hated how it was so much easier to level up, how PQs weren't anything special anymore. KS wars happened all the damn time at any popular training map (and it turned into "Who has a bishop and can you hit the button faster than the other person?). It became "pay to win" even more so than ever before. I *did* like Kerning City mall, I liked Magatia. I liked the idea behind Monster Carnival 2 though I never played it. There was a lot of good and bad, I liked the Cygnus knights as an additional class but I would've liked them better if they had been more an adventurer class to reach lvl 200 rather than stopping at 120.
The game really really really turned pay to win with the addition of miracle cubes and potential. Didn't wanna deal with the "hurr de durr I paid for hundreds of dollars of NX and cubed my sht so i put up bigger numbers and am better than you" ksers. Even with the Maple Trade System, which was pretty pay to win in its own sense, people could at least work their way up to standard pro items with that system. In addition getting from 1 to 120 became an extremely easy task post big-bang, which pissed me off considering how much time pre big-bang players invested into their characters, and how players after 120 practically received... no boosts when it came to leveling. PQs went out of style and grinding became favored. Much more individual play than teamwork was encouraged as some players could use their own haste or their own hyper body or their own holy symbol. The game simply became 500x easier but with more unfriendly competition. Everybody had flash jump or some better fly all over the map option. like wtf. And with the increase in meso cap, hackers and botters really flourished. Every new class that came out was super flashy fancy overpowered and unoriginal. The adventurer classes and even some of the first Hero classes went out of style. If you ever took a break, maybe a 2 month break, and you return to the game, youd find that the equipment that you once had that was considered good was overshadowed by something completely new and clean but that is the case for all Nexon RPG games. The game simply became all about numbers, new numbers, and bigger numbers.
I hated how they come up with a new class "flame wizard" which to me is a cheap fire/poison mage rip off.
Choose 3 because the new quest lines simply suck, quest npcs in Victoria changed functions and even backstories in some cases. The new Victoria Island feels shallow and too artificial. I think that pretty much all content added Post-BB or BB doesn't add anything to the game at all. It either replaces old content directly (like classes getting changed completely, old maps being erased) or indirectly (just think of all the equips that are useless in newer servers like zak helmets, whole regions of maple world which become abandonded because they dont give good exp). I've also noticed that alot of players in this server actually care about the lore and exploring the game in generally. In the #1 Server most Level 200+ ppl don't even know what Korean Folk Town is.
lol such an obvious troll thread. The big bang nexon story is like dragon ball z power level with aoe skill spamming everywhere. Who the hell wants to play such easy game. Don't even get me started on how easy it is to one shot zakum in nexon story. Also, the new class TOOK OUR JARB!!
Even though this post is old, i'll try to bump it 0w0. TBH, kissing wars kind of happen here. If you leave a map too long (npc shop/lunch break/etc/coming back from town cause you died) it can be stolen. 'Who hit the button faster than the other' existe pre-big bang too, i can remember the 15 minutes u had to track others on KPQ just to PQ once and get back to the waiting line back in 2006. Bera and Scania always crowded and hard to play, while the other new worlds were hard to level just because of the hackers taking advantage. And as for the "who has a bishop", since 4th job were added this has been the thing. Even in the server leeching in certain level ranges is a better investment than training. Training spots weren't really the issue since mini dungeons filled such issues before big bang (i can remember it was before big bang because of the Secret Agent event that took place around 2008 ~ and it involved mini dungeons) For me when big bang came out, things became just easy as you say. The so hard to reach 2nd and 3rd job became a piece of cake. Certainly this made many play more the game, but it also made it lose the challenging part of it.
I quit GMS earlier this year because I could no longer afford it. If I wanted to fund myself again I think it would cost too much $$. Also, most of my friends no longer play... I'm playing here mostly because of the stability of this server and how it is run. The staff here is nothing short of amazing. I'm constantly impressed with the way issues are handled. I also love that the donator shop is cosmetic only! I personally wouldn't mind playing an updated server if it had these qualities. It doesn't exist.
I have actually played more updated servers (private servers) when I got over the nostalgia factor and it's just not the same. The community isn't as unified and 'making friends' or meeting people is just completely different. People are much more orientated around how much more damage they can do than you than anything else. Even Skype calls, that I joined with the guilds I had been in, tended to consist of who did the better: bossing, damage and who had more NX (since that actually played a role in gameplay: i.e cubes). It was all "I can one-up you" and it soiled the experience for me. Just like any other private server, if you don't necessarily have people to play or chat with (I think the reason I played for so long was because some of the stuff was new to me -- so that made things interesting for a bit and I had my boyfriend playing with me), it tends to get boring. On top of that, most other servers are pay2win. I don't think I need to say much more.
