So I plan on making a Paladin alt for lulz, and I was wondering with the release of Crushed Skulls if Sword > BW or if there's not much difference. I understand that Blast has a 2:3 slash/stab ratio, and that swords do 100% damage either way. Whats the formula for BW? Would a good Crushed Skull outperform or equally perform a good Dragon Carabella? Where can you even get Crushed Skull here? (iirc its CWKPQ, but that't not available here)
I do think in this graph the 1h sword was using a lunchbox, so 1hbw/sword would be much closer if he were using say a carabella or red katana
So I found a nifty little page about pretty much any formula you would ever want to know about in Maplestory here. I also discovered that Blast has a 3:2 slash to stab ratio, so 60% of my Blasts will be a slash (which favors BW). 1H Swords are also faster than Crushed Skull by 1 attack speed (5 vs. 6). So would the increase in attack + higher Blasts 60% of the time (but much lower 40% of the time) offset the greater speed + more stable damage of swords? EDIT: After researching the topic more, swords seem the way to go, being faster and more stable. Sucks because BW scrolls are so much cheaper :l Now I have this dilemma; Red Katana vs. Sparta/Carabella? Looking at the Sword vs. BW argument, it seems speed > attack, so is a Red Katana my end game weapon as a Paladin?
Sword: Red Katana > Carabella because of speed DPS wise, but at things like BF at v62, speed doesnt matter at ALL, since you will usually kill BF with booster off. So Carabella for Bigfoot/Skeles, Red Katana for Zak/HT (more dps) Stonetooth is also an amazing route (i don't know why not considered, but I'm a hero so maybe its me just being retarded). Crushed Skulls are the best BW and gacha'd at Perion. The BW vs. Sword argument is something i know very little about, but I do know alot about swords! Hmm, really? Why would I not be using Booster at BF? If I wanted to use 2H, I would just make a Hero I prefer 1H + Shield, which is why I chose to make a Paladin. But thanks for the suggestion! Now, in Sire's post, he says "With swords, you are guaranteed to get a higher DPM compared to BW in almost any case (The crushed skull being an outlier), but still recommends swords. Is Crushed Skull better than swords, or just "less bad" than other BW? Also thanks for the Gacha location on Crushed Skull
Well, sword gives you more stable damage but also less maximum damage (compared to BW) Sword for slash/stab is 100%/100% afaik, whereas BW is 120%/80% [% is damage]. Despite Blast being a stab animation it still follows the 3:2 slash/stab ratio, so 60% of the time you'll have higher damage because of that, although 40% of the time you'll also suffer from lower damage because of it. The Crushed Skull is 115 attack clean on average, whereas a RK (Red Katana) is 84 attack clean on average. It is a hell of a lot faster than the Crushed Skull, though, but I'd still opt for BW. I think the attack needed to outweigh the speed loss is less than 31 attack, but I don't know those formulas so I'm afraid I can't say for sure. Booster is not used at BF because of BF's hit frames - unlike Zakum (or most mobs/bosses) - you can't hit it constantly, because it has invincibility frames. This means you just skip using Booster and time the Blasts instead. PS. BF is Fire-weak, for a Paladin it's like stealing candy from a child... or stealing a lollipop from a BF.
You can if you wall him as a warrior hell bump you and certain times you can just hold down your attack button at least for DKs. And you avoid his invisible period so you can keep booster on. I think I killed him in 35-45min on my 120 DK and prob could of did it quicker with 2 apples at that Lvl
