I can run every single program on my computer and not come close to running out of memory. Does HT cause some ridiculous spike? Is this what's making everyone dc? Is there a way to monitor this? Could altering the pagefile possibly fix this?
I don't think the error message really makes any sense. Have you tried changing your graphics during HT? http://www.basilmarket.com/forum/2316723/0/Dc_at_zak_after_2nd_body.html
This error message is common in resource hog games. The "fix" is to free up some RAM by closing other programs. A) Maplestory is not a resource hog and only requires 1gb memory. B) I have never even come close to running out.
I know, thats why the message doesn't make sense and it is probably something entirely different, like the link I posted.
I've tried every graphics setting (every combination of quality and window/fullscreen), with no success. :/ Doing exactly as those who don't dc still doesn't work for me.
I had that exact error on my laptop several times, sporadically and not just at HT. My laptop has...half the specs my desktop does- 3 gb RAM, dual core processor. I would have absolutely nothing open except Maple and I'd still get it. A reboot would sometimes fix it, but not usually.
Ive had this same issue on my 1st ht run without gfxing. The 4 runs after that i have been gfxing and not dced once again.
Maybe there is a memory leak somewhere in the client... (this is when old code in the client is not removed from memory when it finishes, but instead continues to pile up and fill up the processes memory space.) Most programs will dynamically increase their memory space, maybe maple does not in this case. But storage seems like an odd way to describe it. If you were low on page file, windows would send you a pop-up saying it's low. My page file is 96MB and I have only 2GB of RAM. I have zak'ed before with no problems.
Sorry I was just guessing and mumbling. I'll go research a bit more. The numbers that Taskmgr and my memory monitor display are quite confusing and don't match up.
@Goofy You can track "Mem Usage" in task manager (for mapleroyals.exe) as that's the current RAM usage of maplestory. Just note the Mem Usage before entering horntail, then while in horntail. (see if it spikes up, but even if it does it won't be enough to fill up your RAM) But I agree with Matt, this looks like it may be an internal error. Out of storage could also mean that the client doesn't allocate enough resources for itself to go through with its functions. (I'm just trying to make sense of what wizet/nexon were thinking.) I don't think you can do anything about it by increasing your PageFile as that would just serve as extra memory. I'm sure you have at least 2GB which is plenty. I just hope you don't have background processes clogging it up. So, did you try playing with the graphics settings inside?
The longest I ever lasted was keeping them at max and not gfxing at all. But that was only 15 seconds.
While I was watching Manny's stream, he gfx'd at LEAST 10 times when Body spawned initially. He also kept GFXing at each major magic attack (such as when the middle head spews fire), or when body parts die. He'd also do it multiple times at once- so he'd go from high to mid, then mid to high, then high to mid and then to low all within a few seconds. I dont know the mechanics behind why this worked, but I know that he's previously d/ced at HT and didn't this time. May be something worth trying out.
might mean it resets some variables every time you re-set the gfx. If you don't, they eventually cannot store anymore and don't get reset, causing out of storage error?. Maybe it is an internal memory leak like I guessed hehe. ....maybe it's a graphics cache that stores a ton of graphics data then fills up and shuts down the game since there's no more room for new data!
Well OS version definitely plays a role in how the file is executed. Compatibility modes will never be the same as running on the original OS the game was designed for. The issue is really unknown, we can only assume and infer. I'll attempt to join the next zak squad just to see if I can survive the entire run without crashes and without switching graphics mode. You didn't try switching the graphics mode at HT either, am I correct?
The quality settings? Yes, I did. GFXing keeps most people from dcing, but it seemed to have no effect on when I dc.
