heyo pretty new to maplestory. i played ages ago (6 years ago? maybe more) but everything is new. back then i had an archer and now i wanna make a pure dex. was wondering if anyone else knew how to make this viable (what equips etc) as i got no idea how to find out what equips i can wear that have no strength requirement. any help is appreciated :]
If you can make a good kandiva (bow) it's good until 120, after which you'll mostly be using hurricane and the faster attack speed vs a str archer no longer makes a difference. Nishadas (xbows) can be competitive for a lot longer because of the attack speed bonus, you'd have to calculate on a case by case basis how much more watt is required to on a str xbow to be better. Kandivas are very rare however, I was lucky enough to find a perfect one after a few hours on my priest, but that was only my third(?) kandiva. Bow 30%s are also extremely rare and currently more than 15m apiece. Nishadas on the other hand, drop like candy from nice common mobs like stone golems/dark stone golems (FoG!), and the 30%s are in also abundance as they drop from himes. The rest of your equips are the same as a str archer, except scrolled for purely dex obviously. It's good to make the switch ~120 if you're a bowman, you can easily get upwards of 60 str from equips if you don't have an attack cape/shoe, so you can cap anywhere between 50-65 str.
Unless you plan on being a Strless Bowmaster for novelty reasons or using it as a Sharp Eyes mule, I would advise against going Strless and plan to add Str near level 85. Some key equips come to mind to help you get to that Str level for your end game bow: ~15 Str Zakum Helmet 25+ Str Bowman Overall (Doesn't require Str) 5 Str Silver Deputy Star 5+ Str Maple Leaf You could use a cape or Bowman shoe with Str, but the optimal choice for those slots are Facestompers and Pink Capes chaosed with weapon attack.
I'd like to believe that people are resourceful. OP would probably be better off with the generic clean Facestompers or Pink Capes anyway which isn't asking too much.
True for the cape, but statted class-specific shoes can easily be cheaper and equal/more effective than a clean FS before even scrolling them for dex.
i can confirm my pgc adds more str than the 8 str cape i was using on my warriorsfor a while. and the pgc has like 2 att f3 better to get that and save up for chaos imo than spend all that money the chaos costs trying to scroll a str YAC to beat 2 att pgc when all those YACs could be better used to make int gear for hp washing lol.
id rather scroll some vss for jump or speed tbh. plus you can use them onyour bishop if they have jump and the jump scrolls give dex. its way easier to ws. i have no problem getting to people with hs at zak and ht by doing it with a jump. i dont have to climb all the way up to them x.x and then for BM/MM you just get enough pet speed to go with your thrust and you basically have max haste. i have 9 dex 22 jump 6 speed vss tho and i dont think a new player is going to scroll that right away unless theyre relaly lucky. but even a 5/7 or 6/7 vss with jump would go nicely with thrust. id take that mobility over the tiny bit of range youd get from bowman shoes until you can afford fs but thats just my preference haha.
