MapleRoyals is outdated, and it doesn't have to be.

It's great, but i can be much greater
MapleRoyals is a great server, but in my opinion it could be much greater. After taking a very long break, playing other servers I realized that Royals is lacking one or two things. And I think with hard work this could all be solved. I genuinely believe that by upgrading old content, we can make a much greater server.
Before I get tackled by counterarguments, I want to give you a little spoiler:

Spoiler: Excuses I've read

''We can't do it'' - Well but then at least elaborate why other servers can.
''It's not GMS like'' - If Royals was truly GMS like we'd have to remove half of the assets.
''It's not like we're not always working on improvements'' - Sure but why does the #1 server lack against much smaller servers? Please elaborate.

The main website & forum
1. There is no feature list on the website with all the custom content like the godly system, custom NX and so on. This would be a good addition to have for especially new players.
2. Boh the website and forum looks poorly designed, and boring. Okay I don't want to criticize without context, so please just look at every other top 10 GTOP Maplestory server. They look much better.
3. There's no ranking system. This speaks for itself, and I understand it could cause lagg, but in all seriousness. If you have a properly designed database, this shouldn't be an issue.
4. No discord link? Like why.. It's 2020


Resolution
1. I've heard staff stay ''we can't do it'' without context. Why can't you do it? Why can every other server do it but not the #1 server? I genuinely understand it takes work but if you need a volunteer, just ask. I'm down to help you day and night. Running on a 32'' screen, it's really annoying to play Maplestory in windowed mode. It doesn't even cover 1/4th my screen.

People will most likely miss it regardless. Nothing to do with how the forums look people would rather ask in the shoutbox(which is totally fine).

I know there is one. I'm just saying on a design perspective. Things can look better. Saying they are there doesn't mean it's right. Just because you can put wheels on top of a car and say ''it has wheels'' doesn't make it a good design.

Again, it's not about it being displayed. It's about it being displayed better. I'm really surprised that it's such a big deal to people that I suggest for a design enhancement.

I'd love to see the ranking system return and it would be useful to new players to have an 'about' section about Royals on the front page.

 

Why don’t you just add a more obvious discord link/tab/button on the main page/ home page? Unless you know where to look, that’s not place where people will naturally look, especially with the color scheme. I don’t think blaming users is very helpful here.

It’s pretty clear that the server either has little to no priority over improving the website/forum experience, and/or they lack the people to do so

 

Seems like people like to meme about constructive criticism rather than actually having a properly developed website. Kind of off-putting when a staff members passive-aggressively suggests that their players ''are blind''. Happy to see someone with sense.

 

You guys have had dozens of developer applications yet somehow nobody seems to be accepted. These people who have applied have made amazing content and client modifications on other servers after getting denied here. Saying you have only one developer is just stupid when it's caused by your own actions.

 

I'm not blaming players, I'm just presenting the reality. I can literally answer any question, with my colored font and red leaf, and a person will ask the same question again right below my message.
I don't mind it since it's easier to let someone else search for you but I agree, it could help.

Personally I feel like the forums are a better community hub than the discord, which is why I don't really mind if there's a huge link or not.

 

Exactly why is said you lack the manpower. If your one dev doesn’t have any bandwidth to work on this kind of stuff, how difficult would it be to hire someone or even outsource these types of tasks? Some of these things should be trivial

It's surprisingly extremely difficult and not trivial at all. Do you know how hard it is to find a competent developer in a sea of snarky college freshmen that got a B+ in comp sci 101? Do you know how hard it is to find a developer that won't literally fuck up everything on purpose? Entire servers have crumbled due to developers with poor abilities or bad intentions.

We're memeing because unfortunately at this point your criticism is one without much substance. I can understand your frustration at your feedback being seemingly dismissed, but you have to understand that staff have been aware of your exact suggestions for... years now lol. And server veterans have been waiting patiently for implementation because the truth is that is all we can really do.
