I strongly support a change in the vote abuse ban system as well. Where the change would definitely increase the playerpool we have in mapleroyals. More donators for the server too Suggestion; Player is banned for vote abuse, abused 64K NX. 8k each on Account , 8 in total (Quite a serious offense) Player will be required to make a Ban Appeal Player has to name all the character abused truthfully and fit the logs accurately or the ban will remain permanent. The ban appeal will result in -8k NX in all the accounts abused, and a temporary ban until next servercheck where the NX its then deducted. If theres 0 NX left in that account. It will become -8K NX. There will only be 1 single opportunity for every vote abuser. ————— This suggestion is target towards player who haven’t read the rules properly , such as players that arn’t fluent in english, make a giant reminder that he/she will definitely notice.
Thank you, it's good to see others have their creative way of thinking. Although I think this ban is too light. I am personally looking for bans that result in ''well at least I'm not perm banned''. But it's good to see more creativity. PS: I edited the title because it was missleading.
This is just my opinion though, the amount of abusers in mapleroyals is too damn high. If we can fix that abusing issue, the change would be so much easier to be in play. Of course there would be a 101ways and 101 better solutions to improve the system by having this topic properly brainstormed. Perhaps to make a further step and share your point in a more favourable way for the community. Alittle further insight on such “Script” or “System” that can be made in 20mins To be made into a video for players with poor to none in programming knowledge such as myself. To result in a “Hey, actually it isn’t that bad” or “This is what we want”
I really like that idea, and I genuinely would but only if this is actually something that is considered which is far from happening considering that not a single staff member agrees so far.
I like the idea of giving one warning, but there are a few ways it could be exploited. I will use this chart to help explain some scenarios. Let's look at these two potential exploits of a warning system. 1. What if vote abuse happens on a large scale and/or the NX is already spent? Imagine 100k NX spent, 500k NX spent, etc. This would fall into Type C (major, ignorant) vote abuse in Figure 1. It's not as simple as subtracting NX from 1 account and undoing the damage. Conclusion: A warning is not enough as a deterrent and punishment for all types of vote abuse. 2. What if veterans know the 1 warning rule for vote abuse and try to massive scale vote abuse. They are dedicated, and 1 warning, so why wouldn't they try ? This would fall into Type A and Type B (deliberate) vote abuse in Figure 1. A warning would be pointless in these cases. Conclusion: A warning system must have special rules in place, or else it will be exploited. In short, it's crucial to be careful with a merciful system to prevent exploitation or unwanted effects. Furthermore, the more the staff makes public their criteria for such decisions, the more exploitable it becomes.
I understand you all say this with the best of intentions but personally I'd just ban them permanently, otherwise they will just keep doing it as long as no one notices. Same with players abusing multiple accounts for Heartstopper farming and stuff like that.
Owning multiple accounts to increase your revenue per hour(whether it's heartstoppers, quad/duo mage or whichever method you are using) is legal, and by no means an abuse of the rules. Multi-clienting and everything that comes with it is unrelated to vote abuse.
It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that you can play multiple accounts at once but not vote with these, seems contradictory, but if it's not against the rules then... ok, I guess.
I feel banning them for a week for vote abuse is fair. Maybe even 3 days (1st offense): Shows that rules are enforced in the server, gives them a reasonto give them a relook over Still allows the old system to be in place where we can control vote abuse, just give them a second opportunity. Yes the inventory clearing will add an additional step but I believe in the long run it will give us a better retention of players who take the rules seriously. This is something I would put into practice and see the results. If the workflow does become too much, just switch back to the old system, but I feel the player retention will be a net positive for the server.
Of all the harsh bans that deserve leniency, I disagree that vote abuse is one of them. Vote abusers break the rules knowingly and with full intent to exploit NX gained. Caveat to this are the people who are genuinely different people and they vote in the same household but didn't receive whitelist authorization. I think we should be lenient on the underage players who get banned because they're under 13. I think that's a really dumb rule that some kids have actually gotten banned for. Granted, they're unbanned when they turn 13, but why are we banning innocent kids? Because we want to protect them from what we mostly 20somethings say in all chat that may be lewd or otherwise vulgar? I also think that we should be lenient on the people who are clearly talking to their friends in all chat in FM and say whatever profanity that today gets an automatic ban if someone is petty enough to report it. Like, if they're not talking to you or insinuating the N word to you, why are we banning people who say jokes like Nigel to their friend when they are reported by people with obvious stupid, vindictive intentions simply to exploit the ban system? I think the two above examples are bans that deserve actual leniency, where there is no actual crime being committed but we ban them anyway. And side note that I highly disagree with wiping player inventories. Not only because, what, the high score of multiple characters someone has owned is a least 500, and that would be absolutely ridiculous to wipe five tabs of inventory for each and every single character. But the main reason is that already we have instances of permanent bans on people who borrowed billions and billions worth of gear from innocent victims. Irrevocably destroying items as a non-permanent ban option just worsens that problem. Also I think putting that additional time constraint on the only admin who processes these sorts of requests is nonsense, considering he's getting 50+ inbox messages daily now and time can be better spent catching big cheaters like RWTers rather than doling out slaps on the wrist that necessitate admin time to do.
100% this. vote abuse is inherently major abuse, and i'm not sure the extent of how long you happened to get away with it should reflect your level of punishment. the fact that it usually starts as a 30-day ban reflects that some people do vote abuse without the knowledge or intent to break the rules. and i've been saying we needed to reform the harassment system for 3+ years now zzZ...
I agreed the affect on econ can not be undone, so no. but there is several way, if you do really want a second chance. shorturl.at/huBF8
