    Hi,

I get that you want to create a messo sink... but the new prices (combined with lower meso & drop rate) might be a bit too much for leveling a sin.

personally, i play NL for fun so i dont wash - after the current patch refilling illbi's set will cost more than 200K - I think it'll force me to just buy and sell APR in order to keep my sin possible to play...

i think it could have been better idea (if possible) to increase recharge cost with level \ job advacement... becasue right now it seems like i'll have to play with another class.

It makes sense for the top DPS class to be expensive to maintain, i don't see the issue here

I mean, yes if your focus is on nerfing the top players who are all playing NL. I played nl back when I was a kid and started playing this server again to reexperience that feeling. Unlike a lot of the top 1% players, I dont have a lot of cash and I make all my money from just what mobs drop. I currently have 20 packs of illbis which at the current rates would be 5mil to recharge each time. For very rich players this helps to counteract inflation in the economy and takes mesos out of circulation, but for someone poor like me, I cant train for longer than 2 or 3 hours a day without having to wait for APRs to sell to be able to recharge and afford pots.

There are a huge number of ways in which NLs dps and the money that they make could be brought into line and balance (the alchemist and shadow shifter nerfs in particular are good ways to do that). Increasing the cost of recharing stars puts a huge strain on the new players, like myself, while not impacting the top players very much at all.

If the purpose of this is to fully discourage players from playing NL, then it will only do so to players who have pre-existing knowledge of this change. New players, who are used to classic ms prices, will be unaware until they have sunk a huge amount of time in. At which point they will realize that they have no way to reliably make money (like bishops have via leeching despite the pot nerf) and so they will be unable to upgrade their gear and unable to fund leveling.

TLDR; a change of this magnitude is barely punitive to the player base to whom it is targeted at (the very rich) but nearly back breaking to the new players who are playing the game from scratch with little or no funding at all. This too, I believe, extends to new players leveling non-bishop mage characters (a better nerf would have been to gen damage, HS experience rates, or increased mana cost at higher ranks of blizz/gen/meteor. All of these changes would have disincentived leeching, as the patch seems to be targeted at, without harming the new player beginning fresh)

    Out of curiousity:

Does Alchemist work on % based potions?
So for example a Ginger Ale recovering 75% HP and 75% MP: would the current 125% Alchemist make it 93.75% HP & 93.75% MP or does it only affect absolute values?

It does not no. NLs do not often use % based potions (to my knowledge, at least until VERY late into the game or on highly HP washed builds).

No. Alchemist doesn't affect % based potions.

lol I always used % pots like ginger/elixir/power elixir on NL
It was cheaper than stuff like melting cheese and you didn't need to bother with getting both HP and MP potions.
Also even if you just washed 12k it's already 9k healing while cheese would only be 6k

    I see.

Well, since i quit my Nightlord a long time ago and didn't play for atleast a couple of weeks to monitor the costs of recharging throwing stars, combined with the now different meso income of people i can't evaluate whether the recharge prices are too high or not.
What i'd say is: play the game first and see whether it works too. And who knows, maybe people will grow to like these challenges, that were before this update mere annoyances if anything.

If it's far too high in pricing for especially newer players you can still give the staff members feedback. Im sure they did the math, and even if it's breaking the early game for alot of sins, they might be able to change the values to a level-scaling based system, like you suggested.

A good point i saw on the shoutbox regarding the potion changes:

All changes of course went through calculations. If you read the post you will see the reason behind every change. "nEw pLaYeRs wiLl nOt bE aBlE tO buY pOtS" who the hell buys 75% pots before lvl 120

To be honest, its the change in recharge price in conjunction with the reduction in equip and meso drop rates. I was only making 1-5mil every time I banked before, and now that's all consumed in pots and recharges mathematically. If just drop rates were changed, but recharge prices were left untouched, it wouldn't be an issue. If just recharge rates were changed, but drop rates remained the same then it also might not have such a huge impact.

Again, i understand you and your concerns, but i think people should try playing the game with the changes first for atleast a week and then see if it's gotten to a unplayable state for newer assassins or players in general.

    EXACTLY.

Now, with the new system, every 8 sets of ilbis is llike 2m cost of reacharge.
Lets say that you make 6m of drops & mesos each recahrge of 8 ilbis, that will be 4m profit net.
But, the 6m is considered with the past drop rate, so maybe it isnt 6m right now, maybe it 4m. so that will be 2m profit net.
In the same time, other chars will do as twice the amout of profit because of the non-recahrge cost.

    It really, REALLY, too much.
Especially for newbies that this is their main char.

I really dont want to open a bishop just to make my mesos with him but if I'll see that its that hard as I imagine, then I dont have any other option I guess ..

I see no points of using ilibis now as the restaring price is almost same as cilibi.

I would change all my ilibis to steely for daily bossing and keep my cilibi for important boss to spam.

I really hope that its not as doom and gloom as I think it is (just based off of my mesos/hr and the new costs of grinding/hr), but because I dont even have the money to log in right now and recharge, me and my friends have decided that until things settle down and either the change is reverted or someone figures out some counter play we are going to move to a different private server.

It probably a good idea for you, but for NL that can't afford more than ilbis, it wont do a lot of change as you think.

recharge of 8000 stars of ilbi (I counted stars and not sets because iblis and steelies got different count of stars per set) cost aprox 2.25m.
recharge of 8000 stars of steely will cost aprox 750k.
It WILL save him 1.5m per cycle of recharge, but in the same time he will be less strong and still 750k behind other chars.
for the very poor NL it will be a big different and he will choose the steelies, but for the NL with a medium amout of mesos, I'll say he might choose to stay with the ilbis.

If I sum it up, the NL that got other chars that funding them will keep produce mesos for them, and eventually, this changes will be a minor affect for them.
For the newbies, it will be very hard to progress.

Hot take: if you're literally a day 1 newbie who somehow can't even afford logging on (xD), perhaps you shouldn't make NL as your first class, which is the same advice i would give to anyone even before these changes

So... Your advice is as a result of poor in game balance some classes should be unplayable for new player? Im level 128 by the way. I literally just bough an upgrade to my gear and so have almost no money and got blindsided the patch. I dont know if id say i'm a day 1 newbie. Maybe compared to someone who has a bunch of BC but like..? Isnt that kind of an elitist attitude? Shouldn't anyone be able to enjoy the class they want to play at the very least at a functional level irrespective of funding? I was having fun with the game just being able to play, I dont have to have the best gear. Like, if the changes to the class where based on power (as with the SS and alchemist nerfs) thats fine, you can still PLAY the game. You can't play the game without pots or stars though.

Back in the day everybody was using Subis or a few higher classed throwing stars.

Having steelys was really insane already..

What's the issue dealing 34 dmg less when your throwing stars hit 1000-3000 dmg each already?

This server has far too high att wgs/capes/shoes or EQUIPMENT of far too high stats in general anyways compared to the original maplestory, thus making up for the loss of a few w.att.

Just use those until you start doing Bosses regularly such as Headless Horseman and upwards. Those will earn enough mesos and in the long run ya'll can upgrade to ilbis/cilbis/magic throwing knives/balanced furies

i feel like the impact of this change is being exaggerated.

First of all, it may do the ilbis irrelevant for some people.
When in the original maplestory you can always try to loot them if you're poor, here you can loot but you can't throw.

If you do a changes for inflation, you should include all the chars in those changes, and not specific chars.
