As title stated, im new, unfunded. Would be nice if anyone can add me and spare me any random stuff's. Lastly, can the GM charge at a lower rate for recharging stars? Please, thank you

Even after the second update, the price per star increased by up to 24,900% from it's original price. Let that sink in, because this makes no sense, nor is it "nostalgic". And the drop rate is not 2x either, since most item's drop rate was reduced by 20%. Just saying..
That's a lot to unpack... Subis went up 333%, and and balanced furies went up 40,000%, so no- not every star had its price increased by 250 times.
We have a huge amount of NLs on this server, and we decided it was kind of ridiculous how the other stars were never used. Even by new unfunded players, everyone went for illbi as soon as they could get their hands on it. If you want to talk about nostalgia, back in the day kumbi, tobi, steely, icicles, etc were used by newer players. You were lucky to have three sets of illbies by the time you were level 60+ in GMS. Nobody used other throwing stars here, because why would they? People dropped kumbi, tobi, icicles, etc because they weren’t good when you could buy illbies instead, and recharge them for dirt cheap. If you want the higher attack throwing star, it should cost more to recharge.
I dont really agree the reason why everyone use illibi on this server when old school use steely The reason why old school is using low lvl star is illbi ia too expansieve and hard to get The server now illbi is too easy to get that why everyone using it I would prefer making illbi very hard to get then raising the charge price
Wanna know why it was like this on gMS? Because the drop rate and accessibility of them wasn’t sky high like it is on Royals. They were initially only found at Lycanthropes, Mushmom (s?) and Vikings IIRC. New/unfunded players couldn’t afford to attain the more expensive stars. Instead of modifying the recharge rate, alter the drop rate itself so that the supply doesn’t exceed the demand and their value doesn’t plummet in the first place. If ilbis were harder to access/afford new players would be using lower tier stars without the added obstacle of having to pay more to recharge them, and vets wouldn’t have to suffer for the sole reason of forcing low leveled/new players to use shittier stars. It’s a win-win solution in comparison to raising the prices to recharge which hurts both new players and old (new players have to pay more to recharge even low tier stars, and vets have to pay more to recharge their high tier stars that they paid an arm and a leg for already). The price jump/accessibility/affordability from subis to ilbis (over 10 att difference?) is negligible (like 1m? if that, sometimes free as you mentioned), but the price jump from ilbis to cilbis (1 att difference?) is roughly 300m+. There’s a very clear balance issue with how accessible and affordable stars are prior to cilbis—that’s what should (all of this is IMO) be addressed instead if we want to bring that aspect of the game back to being gMS-like as y’all had referenced above. If you want the higher attack throwing star, it should cost more to purchase. The gatekeeping should be with affordability of the item itself rather than with using it once you have it. New players can still get ilbis for dirt cheap/free just like before the recharge price increase, only they can’t freaking use them because they can’t afford to recharge them. Doesn’t it make far more sense to just make it so that once they can actually afford to buy them, they can afford to use them as well? Just my take, I know I always come off as like “aggressive” but it’s just how I type and it’s nothing personal at all. Hope it doesn’t come off that way.
this isnt gonna help considering theres a ridiculous amount of them circulating around the server or being kept on storage mules by some ppl alr
IF you want to talk about nostalgia, make AP resets untradeable, remove certain contents that weren't part of this version of the game and voila...you will see players using other stars and items because they are no longer to afford ilbis and c ilbis lol. This new recharge price has ruined many thief lives and made them quit their class, you can ask my friends if you want. AP resets are fkin ridiculous and they go for 17m ea and you can buy what 2 or 3 per day? That's just DUMB and ruins the nostalgia because everyone is rich lol Also nerfing certain places that have big amount of drop chance for items and where players get full inventory in no time and earn few mil just like that.. DROP rates are wayy to high on this server it's just insane. I've seen people with 30+ ilbis on their inventory and just few days ago some guy traded me and showed he had 30 bil just like that. IT'S insane how easily you can get stuff and mesos here. If players were poorer people would definitely use subis, tobis, steelies etc... but everyone is winning here and nobody is literally suffering like the old days of maplestory. Beggers earn millions too ( i begged the first days i joined here and earned like what almost 100m by begging ). It's insane. People afk a lot here too because of boredom. Leveling is good but drop rates and the way you get mesos= NERF
lol how will you wash if AP resets were untradable? You'd have to vote for like months or even years just to wash some char, and it will only make the problem with HP washing to be a lot worse than it is now and make the game vote to win. This can potentially discourage a lot of new players who will see that even if they dedicate themselves and farm a lot of mesos they'd still be unable to wash for a long time. Even older players will have problems with this cause if I have enough money and want to just create an NL or something, why would I have to vote for a year and not just make it? And if you say to just not wash, it's not really realistic at this server with everyone already washed and HB not being very common. So unless you somehow manage to fix the HP problem by giving everybody a lot more HP (which also got it's own issues being unfair to older people who had to wash, making HB useless etc) making APRs untraceable won't be a good idea at all
I appreciate your comment no hard feelings at all. I agree, the droprate is too high but the other issue is even if we changed the illbi droprate there’s still players who have tons of illbies stashed away somewhere. Hell, even I have around 15-20 sets on a hermit I never play anymore... however we all came to the agreement about increasing recharging stars to meet the inflation of mesos. Same with increasing % potion costs. I’m sure there are more reasons for why every member agreed to this increase, but I believe the main one was trying to match the influx of mesos that were being farmed over time. You have to remember, we’ve been alive for almost 7 years. Personally, I think it’s silly that it costed around 100 mesos per star, (keep in mind I haven’t touched a thief since 2014, so I don’t know the exact recharge cost, I’m just guessing) when tons of players can easily make mesos within 1 hour of grinding. Even just daily voting can accumulate 30+m a day. Same reason with the potions, but I’ll keep that out of here since this thread is about recharging stars. This thread is about recharging stars, Surpassgod brought up nostalgia around the throwing stars, which is why I only mentioned throwing stars. I find it really ridiculous that people are quitting the class over this. I already said it in this post, but you have to remember that we've been around for almost 7 years now. Of course there's going to be players that have a ton of B coins, they put in the work around 2013-2019. That's how I made my mesos. Drop rates are too high, which is why we nerfed them.
Lol yes i am going to say screw HP washing. People never did it back in the days ( at least not by using ap resets, only few rare players were rich enough to do that ). I say make every play go back to their original stats / hp / mp etc and let them choose their aps again. I am level 100 soon and i haven't touched a single AP reset so far because it just ruins the nostalgia. I don't think players would leave or anything, the other servers that don't have hp washing system are pretty decent population. I know what the topic is but the topic is way deeper than '' recharging star prices ''. It's not ridiculous that players quit their class because they can't afford to recharge the stars. This is like real life raising taxes for poor people and telling them '' instead of eating spaghetti buy the noodles nobody really eat ''. But you tell that to many people who quit their class and tell them they are ridiculous Easy mesos= best stars Easy drop rates= easy mesos Gachapon= easy mesos ( occasionally ) AP reset= easy mesos New player making an assassin= no meso, no best stars, recharging and eventually quitting their class and making a bishop= triple easy mesos
We also just know more. Any game that's been around for 15+ years, even if it isn't changed at it's most core elements is going to be vastly different. For example, HP washing was 100% possible on GMS, people just either didn't know about it, or it was too expensive because real money, this also goes for leeching. Take a look at WoW Classic and how people are clearing raids at speeds completely unheard of- nothing has really changed, people just know what's going on better. 3-ticking on OSRS was always possible even on RS2 but we didn't know about it. You can even just look at speedrunning any NES or SNES game. Then there's the fact that even if we don't know more- 7 years is a long time to kill lycanthropes and mushmoms. Even if the drop rate is low eventually there are just so many that it doesn't matter. FWIW, this happened on GMS too. People quickly realized some classes sucked at making money or were more difficult to get into parties with. Even without mage ultimates, mages were some of the best farmers pre 4th job. I/L have their mobbing and I knew a guy AGES ago who figured out you could leech people with poison mist and powerguard in Ludi, eventually skeles and getting you to 30-70 in 4 hours. Sins have always sucked at making money before bossing. It's not bad that people can't make mage level money with a sin. It's just unfortunate people who don't know what their doing don't know that- but it's something every new player figures out- either they deal with their classes innate ability to farm and make money, or they make another character to help out on the side.
the level of mental gymnastics required to devolve every feedback thread in these forums into a hp wash debate is truly impressive
But making things even harder for an assassin = smart like waow.. not everybody likes / wants to create a mage class and level it up with time and effort to 120+ just to earn money. At least old school assassins actually did something productive than sell 2-3 ap resets per day which is like what? over 30 mil per day which is ridiculously insane...... not only you can buy so many sets of steelis but u can easily ruin the nostalgia. If not recharging ilbi people use steelies, GMS people even used icicles and tobis lol
They dont have to make a mage if they dont want to. There's just no reason they should expect to make mage-level money without putting in that effort lol. Also, nothing stopping you from not selling APR if you dont want to? I dont really get your point here- youre upset sins don't make good money but you don't like that they can make money with apr?
I am not upset of anything. It's just you forum members too sensitive. I am just saying the facts. Most players actually think that getting mesos is super easy on this server and it's way easy actually. But it's also not balanced out because of new recharge stars prices and new players starting an assassin. Can't really compare oldschool GMS here when recharge never costed this much lol. AP resets + huge drop rates are one of the main reasons why so many items on this game is actually super cheap. I remember when ilbis were 10-14m ea. Even GFA 60% used to go for 4-6m ea but now 400-700k. Players put way little effort into getting things. I mean it's great because most of us are adults now but yeah i get no joy of getting 100m anymore because it's just so basic thing to have a lot of mesos. Well i ain't replying anymore, this server is still amazing and the community is the only thing that is keeping me here though. But it's not the first time seeing a new player walk in asking '' how to get mesos '' people reply: '' vote and sell ap resets or start a bishop ''. Tells a lot about the economy and the way of the gameplay of this server. Now the new guy is probably voting and selling ap resets for 15-17m ea and now he can buy almost anything he needs and still is having enough mesos for at least level 70+ So if i stop selling ap resets or even if i stop thinking about AP resets in the first place, there are so so many more who will sell / use ap resets. So that doesn't change the fact that AP resets ruined the nostalgic experience of true maplestory. They should be untradeable just like gachapon tickets. Shit if you want easy gameplay go to GMS. Game is a lot fun when it's balanced lol
this is just a slight nerf. if they(GM and creator of this server) really wanted to drop a piano on NL they could have made sharp eyes not a party buff anymore and make it just a passive buff to BM/MM only.
You're really making no sense here. You talk about mesos being made too easily in this server. And then about new recharge prices being a problem. The devs obviously feel the same way about how mesos are flooding the server hence the latest updates that introduce drop/mob nerfs and meso sinks to help balance some things out, one of them being star recharge prices. Just because HP wash wasn't nostalgic to you doesn't mean it wasn't happening back in the day. Forcing your version of what nostalgic is upon the whole server is extremely short sighted. People who couldn't wash before due do real money restraints now can because NX is accessible for free. Just like how people who couldn't afford all the NX clothing and looks they like before can also have an entire wardrobe of it now. It's a feature of this private server. If you really hate this concept, just don't partake in it. If enough people feel the same way you do, you'd have your "true nostalgic experience" that you want. It's not happening because people do want to access what was gated to them all those years before. Basically meaning if Nexon wasn't all about dat cash, this is how players would've played their game, and your version of nostalgia would've been completely different.
