Apologies if I am derailing the thread, though I do think these points are all relevant to the topic. There is a far bigger amount of Bishops in this server, in my opinion. As I was leveling, PQ'ing, every place I went to there were far too many Clerics/Priests/Bishops. And the most inflated items are INT based. I remember in chat when I brought this same point a veteran player replied and said that Bishops were already nerfed by the cost of the Genesis spell book. And it is true, that item is overpriced, but have the number of Bishops dropped, has it brought a balance to the classes? No. Because we play what we like to play and what brings us joy and fun. This is a matter of the game's version, every class had it's own unique benefits, and it shouldn't have been tinkered to this degree.
-Sigh- I have to reply again because someone clearly did no understand anything i wrote here. As i said before, HP washing was there but nobody truly used AP resets, not even those rich kids that much. I've been playing maplestory since almost it began a story so i know this. Players couldn't give a shit about HP washing back then and just played normally. AP reset came when wizet was still a thing not nexon though nexon was the downhill of maplestory and everyone knows it. Nexon brought to MS all the new stuff that nobody really used back then. And as i said before, getting mesos is way too easy here and you can't really deny it. But my point about the recharging shit was pointed to NEW PLAYERS >.> I've seen many thiefs ( new players ) and few old too quitting their class because of recharging prices. And you can't compare NX clothes to a fucking AP reset. Single AP reset costs 3100 and you don't really do anything not even with 10 AP resets if you are HP washing. But with 3100 you could already buy some clothes from cash shop back then that lasted for like what? 90 days. SO many players had NX back then but did not buy AP resets. The only thing that can be done is make AP resets untradeable. People sell AP resets for real life money too and it's happening all the time. AP resets give everyone too much mesos and the game and so so many items lose value. Your character loses value. And yet maplestory still was a million player thing ( some videos over 2 million views ) back then and nobody truly HP washed with AP resets. Because it's not necessary.. It's only necessary for people who want to level super fast and start bossing up early. Losing all the fun and nostalgia experience 1-120+. Back then people leveled normally and naturally and just leveled up high. The community was so great back then and nobody whined about AP resets. Last night maybe 3-4 guys agreed with me on the game too and said that AP resets should be untradeable. But i guess you would still whine about it? Even though you are offered 8.000 nx per day? If that's the case then save up NX from voting. Or are you so close to GMS where kids just want everything whenever they want and are basically spoiled since level 1 with a golden spoon in their mouths? In this case level 15 because that's when you become a multi millionaire >.> Not for new player thiefs though because new recharging prices XD Well that is the point i am trying to say here. Getting mesos is so easy here and people really get bored and the game loses value. I mean i am level 90 soon and i do enjoy the game because of the community. But i still haven't experienced anything nostalgic here. The community is just what is keeping me here. I've seen a lot of new players starting up bishops because people tell them to start bishop just to earn billions of mesos and then starting a new class. Imagine when selling AP resets at the same time. I mean there were already a lot of clerics back in the day who sold leech so i can't really say anything. But one of the main reason people create bishops so they can buy scrolled items ( mostly for HP washing ). I mean the game cycle is about HP washing and earning tons of mesos. Nothing fun in that to be honest. Also there will be more bishops now you know why? Because new players that have created a thief class they realize that they cannot afford anything and that recharge prices are ruining their experience + of course people tell them this and that so they create a bishop. So yeah bishops are taking over day by day. AP
No worries, it’s a healthy approach and I agree that these points are relevant to the topic as well I’m only derailing this once and then I’m going to stick back on discussion. The reason why INT gear is inflated is because of HP washing. Wand inflation is due to the leeching aspect. Bishops are not attackers, and like you said, we play what we like to play and what brings us joy and fun. I know quite a few people who enjoy bishops as a class, myself included. Yeah there are a ton of Bishops, but I’m pretty sure there are more NLs than Bishops on this server. If not, the number must be pretty damn close because NL is the top DPS class, the only other class that could even rival them would be a really good Corsair. In the same vein, the main reason why you see more Clerics/Priests/Bishops when you're leveling or PQ'ing is because people are buying leech for their attacker classes. They can afford to leech and bypass the grinding and PQs. New players have to put in the time and effort to get to where they want to be. We all had to do it. You have to remember that this game is 7 years old. I did my time back in 2014. I quit the game mind you, but I came right back and finished what I started back in 2018-2019 to get myself funded. Older players did their time much earlier, that's why you see so many around. Newer players don't see the struggle we put in just to get to where we are today, they only see the benefits and rewards it reaps. They weren't there for the countless grinding party sessions at wolf spiders back in 2014-2016. Back in the day everyone was grinding. Not to mention the overpriced Skillbooks Bishops have, that definitely hinders progress and offers a unique balance to that class that people tend to overlook. I’m still using Gen20 at 178 because I failed 2 Gen30s. More people have failed it more times than I did, but I keep using myself as an example because I don’t know if other players want me to use them as examples instead. The price of the Skillbooks has hindered Bishop players, however like you said people will play what they want because they enjoy it. Which is why I find it silly that people are quitting NL over recharging stars. Nobody (I shouldn’t say nobody, because some people might have) is complaining about talking about quitting their Mages due to the % potion increase. If they are, they aren’t blowing it out of proportion. People are acting like it is the end of the world when it is really not. Recharging stars needed to be fixed. It was absolutely ridiculous that you could recharge 27-30 attack stars for 1 meso per star. I don’t know if he wanted me to use him as an example or not, somebody I know only plays a NL and he’s been grinding lately. He uses Cilbi and Meso Up to recharge his stars. He only has a NL, no mage, no nothing and uses NX to Gach / sell APR. He’s been working around the nerfs implemented just fine, because he loves the class and doesn't want to give it up over something like this. Like Evan stated above, GMS is over 15 years old, look at classic WoW and how fast people are clearing old content raids. There’s a huge difference between knowing how a game works inside out, and starting fresh and brand new. Especially with a game that is this old. Not necessarily. I've never HP washed and I buy chairs instead of following the "meta." I even have a 14x Dark Knight and my training partner's unwashed. People really give HB shit when it's really good and actually helps ease the whole HP wash circlejerk. The game is however you want to make it. Play it how you want to, and don't let other people's words influence your opinion. If you really enjoy something then keep doing it. Don't just stop because Jimmy with 60 level 200s who has been playing since the server released tells you to do HP washing, leech selling, APR selling, etc. Do whatever you want to do, as a player to make your time more enjoyable. If you're not washing, then step out of your comfort zone and make new friends who like to grind, party up and do bosses with like-minded players. You don't have to wash, it just requires you to plan ahead more, and make DrK friends for future bossing runs.
Wow you sure are one impossible kid to be honest. Say that to the new players who quit their thief because of recharging prices and community telling them to quit their thiefs because recharging prices + that they can't play their class because they have to HP wash which leads them making a bishop. Back then players were talking about '' thiefs are expensive because they need good equips and good stars '' here they complain about recharging prices and HP washing which is far a bigger problem. I just logged in that this came up ( same image as the below one ) It is not the end of the world but tell that to the players who quit their class. You may think it's silly because you're already experienced and probably rich here. Not everyone wants to create a bishop and start saving NX to sell AP resets. Even though AP reset + bishop is taking over maplestory + INT equips. PS. That guy who was begging mesos. Someone told him to create a bishop and start selling AP resets. Madness. Not to mention that map selling is causing drama too lately.
I mean... teach a man to fish and he feeds himself. lol Also- More money drops here and more equips drop here- people have more money than they would have on GMS. You make enough to afford to recharge your stars. Will a brand new player be able to afford Ilbis? Probably not but there are FAR cheaper stars they can use till they get some money- why is that bad? NL also got along just fine on GMS without washing, they can do so here as well, so moot point. edit: Not to tin-foil-hat here, but the way you hide all your info in that screenshot- kind of makes you wonder if you just staged it to try and make a point. edit 2: Also, won't speak for Becca, but I'm easily one of the poorest people on the server lol. So the assumption that people disagree with you because they're rich isn't entirely true.
My DrK was unfunded. I "worked my ass off" for it because I liked the grind. The only thing I used were apples I got from APQing to help out, and Heartstoppers. You really need to actually take a moment and enjoy the game instead of jumping down the throats of all these "rich players" and assume that all of us aren't taking into consideration the poor new players who can't afford anything. I've given countless mesos away to new players, I even have a free potion thread open to those who are new and can't afford anything. But sure, go ahead and come after me because I'm considered "rich." My mesos are in my chairs because I don't give a damn about attack gear. I play the game how I want to. I chose to buy chairs because it's something different, and it doesn't affect my playstyle at all with overpowered gear, because they are chairs. Can we please stay on topic now, this is about recharging stars. If you feel indifferent and want to discuss this more then please make your own thread about this topic.
Hi, I'm not sure what stars you are using on an assassin or what level that assassin is; but if you are trying to use Ilbi's at level 10 and hoping to get a profit, then unfortunately that's not how it works anymore, and you'll simply need to think about using other stars and sacrificing the extra few attack. This shouldn't be a dealbreaker considering the class is the strongest in the game, and using the lower attack stars will not make much difference at all. I would class myself as a casual player who forgets to vote for NX most of the time, yet I'm still able to easily make profit by using Crystal Ilbis at level 123, even when grinding on mobs suboptimal for my level - and with only level 1 in Shadow Stars. I have not HP washed, and have not bought leech. I have no issues fighting bosses like Papulatus or Zakum which are appropriate for my level. The ideology that this hurts new players is only true if you expect new players to HP wash unnecessarily on their first playthrough of the game so that they can boss earlier than they normally would. There's actually nothing wrong with playing the game without HP washing, you'll just boss at a later level and that's pretty much all, unless you of course find a DrK friend to give you HB which makes things a lot more fun. Not to mention there are equips and medals which can give the player extra HP - I think my equips currently give me over +500 HP. And there's of course the HP quests to give an extra permanent boost to your HP, which I haven't even looked at yet since HP just isn't a major issue for me. Sure HP washing will allow you to boss earlier than you realistically should... and that's fine, players have the option to do that if they want. It's good to set yourself goals of things you want to achieve whatever character you play, but I know that when I play the game, I play to have fun. And since I don't find HP washing and leeching enjoyable, I'm just not doing it. I am perfectly happy with the fact that I might not join a HT run without HB until level probably 170+ if that means I don't need to spend my time focusing entirely on HP washing and buying leech.
Stage it out? I should report you and the other guy for trying to set me up with multiple forum and game accounts. I edited myself there and my friend names because i don't want to get them involved. What's the big deal? You still clearly did not understand the whole point here so i am gonna explain it again. My SS literally said the cycle of mapleroyals. It's all leech, AP resets, map selling etc. Any class can do fine without HP washing. But not in royals. Because the community keeps telling everyone to HP wash and people tell lies a lot too for example '' you can't boss if you don't hp wash '' . But i just tell people to level up high enough and bring a DK with you or something. Also no man new players still can't afford recharging their good stars even though they do have mesos. Othewise this wouldn't be an issue and this topic wouldn't even be here at the first place. Also what it comes to becca i bet she is also very well informed than new players. She's a GM for gods sake. Also earning mesos as a new player is also harder than before since most items have lost value due to fast - easy meso income. Over 90% of my inventory i don't even need and nobody wants to buy them. The topic is related to other issues. But can't really play the game how we want since most of the stuff lost it's value and making a NL is a meso waster especially for new players since recharging system. Anyways happy mapling. Please note that i was F3 all the way so no hard feelings
All i can say is, dont listen to other people and play the game with out-of-the box thinking. There isnt just one way to earn money (legit way) , I know people who can earn 3b/day < by farming what people actually wants to buy ! not farming some useless stuff
I agree! There's a ton of ways to make mesos you just have to think out of the box. Example: Using your jump quest skills to turn 30m of gold teeth into more by trading in for eye of fire I started as a shadower back in 2014 and have been playing on and off and obviously had money issues due to meso bombing at third job but I got through it by merching and finding other ways to farm mesos. I have a lv160 corsair friend that started corsair as his first job 1 and a half month ago and is doing fine today!(I have legit no idea how he did it) I know nothing about NLs and their situation but what I do know that it is 100% possible for new players to make money just try to rack your mind a little and you will figure something out. To me maplestory is not just about grinding, it's about finding the smartest way to achieve your goal, the reason new players get the sell apreset, make bishop advice is because no one in their sane mind would tell a stranger how to make easy money(Which exists!). To new players out there try and think out of the box . I literally bombed my mesos throughout the entirety of third job and got by just fine so there really isn't anything to complain about.
When did I try and "set you up with multiple forum and game accounts"? I merely expressed how it's odd you blocked all your info out. Sure I guess, your friends who you don't want involved- but why don't you want people to know who you are? You contradict yourself- just because people tell you to wash doesn't mean you need to. I can tell Gert to jump off a bridge but he doesn't have to lol. Also, the community, as a whole as you try to portray it, doesn't say that. I've been pushing the no washing narrative for a while- people want to wash because it makes shit easier and they're allowed to do that- for those who don't want to wash- feel free to send them my way. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/hpw...unwashed-the-no-hp-washing-experience.113736/ I've tested this- have you? Or is it just speculation/people telling you they can't afford stars? Not only will a rogue (who kills monsters and picks up the drops and mesos*****) have enough money to afford stars, but can buy pots, they can go buy a maple claw in the FM. Is it as much as they could have made before? No of course not- that's sort of the point- if they can't afford to recharge 'good' stars, there are MANY still good stars that are cheaper. I did the math out at a different point, but people can also sell 1 days worth of NX as APR and afford dozens of hours worth of steelies 40+ hours), more if you use lower stars.
hint : you need to be able to duo ht on 1 pc while farming on 4mages on the other pc going off topic boys
I don't think utilizing star recharging is a healthy meso sink, especially on a character that requires extreme hp washing. Crystal Illbis/Balanced fury might as well be seen as additional gear investment, increasing their cost maintenance with an intial 250m/1b start cost seems the wrong approach. Keep in mind that Illbis were dropped only by 3 mobs, vikings/Lycanthrope/Mushmom, we also have wolf spiders which caused a huge depreciation. I feel if the problem the staff has with stars is diversity and Illbis just being too easy to come by, you(staff) should significantly decrease the droprate on wolf spiders/vikings, take it off mushmom drop table and put it on another boss. Then increase how many you need to make a crystal illbis, youd artificially make the stars more exclusive/expensive with initial purchase rather than punishing players for required maintenance. I'm not sure if this change was made either but based on the recent patch, I would make balanced furies rechargable at every shop if that change hasn't been done already.
I don’t think we can decrease the drop rate now. It was already explained but there’s too many illbies in the game now. Everyone and their dog has probably 10+ sets stashed away somewhere so changing the droprate now wouldn’t really affect anything that much. It’s possible to visit it, but I don’t think it would change much now. NLs don’t need extreme washing, look at Matt’s post. He’s doing just fine as a casual unwashed. Washing makes it easier but you can get by unwashed, you just need to plan ahead and figure out what you want to do. Which is something most players don't want to do. Assassins are the hardest hitting class. Period. I personally think a part of the “NL is op, NL whites everything, etc” is because they already have op skills, people are making them even more op by using Attack gear (as one does to get stronger.) However, there are HP scrolls that nobody uses. You can sacrifice Attack slots for HP gear until you can factor in Attack gear. NLs have insanely high damage, you can sacrifice your 10-12 PGC, or 7 FS for HP gear and be fine. Yeah, you’ll hit less— but you’ll have HP, and you’ll have to actually rely on your party members instead. HB is another alternative to keep your Attack gear. Matt and I were doing fine grinding ToT when he was low level, and doing daily Pap since he was level 100. We even killed Pap around 10min when he was level 100 due to the help of Apples and Heartstoppers that we either farmed ourselves, or used NX Gach/APR mesos to buy. He uses Heartstoppers to make up for the fact that he doesn’t really have gear, plus he uses HP gear to make up for being unwashed. Yeah, his damage could be better— but he’s already op enough because of the NL skills. There are other ways you can work around it. It just requires players to sacrifice Attack slots for HP ones, and nobody wants to factor that in because if it’s not Attack = shit I don’t remember the Staff’s opinion (or my own, because I don’t use bfuries) so I won’t comment on it, sorry.
Make all stars from subis to ilbis same attack making a perfect balance and people could pick their favorite stars until they get richer and richer and they can finally buy the real deal stars. There meso issues are gone and new players won't quit their class. Call me a genius because this is a perfect idea. If you guys say money is not a problem yet you still decided to raise the recharge taxes then my idea would be a lot better.
No, just use whatever you like. if you are not satisfied because its not your "nostalgia gameplay", you are freely to go somewhere else, you were not please to play here. You dont have to hp wash, you dont have to use Ilbis, you dont have to make bishop, but its legal to make a bishop, its legal to sell the AP reset, and if others want to, The way they chose to play this game, that has nothing to do with you.
If you would revisit that problem, you would need an extreme usage to hit the current supply, crystal illbis was my example of this since it's a sought after star. You could also use them as an exchange for something else, maybe other NLC crafting. NL's white everything because of two reasons, SE and apple because of alchemist, two things that have nothing to do with their base kit. You're also only considering two bosses which were developed before the concept of hp washing was discovered, HT is possible but it's difficult. I believe an unwashed NL is going to have 8.7 or 8.9k I can't remember. Let's say 9k for argument sake, that is with HB. If you focus strictly on the heads on HT an NL can survive, but the moment you're dispelled or get knocked down you're kind of screwed. EDIT: To clarify, yes Alchemist is the base kit but what makes it broken is that it affects attack potions duration. I'm kind of taken back that you would recommend this, if you hit 10% HP on every slot of possible equipment that you have, you'd be looking at a maximum of about 1k HP. The 9k figure took in consideration the basic commodities already, and 10k max hp would make things like Auf impossible to do. I can't speak for anego (Which I know hits 17k), toad boss(Not sure, heard he's like krex?) but I know bosses beyond HT require higher hp gains. If pap was killed in 10 minutes, wouldn't it have used a single apple? TT has it's own formula that really benefits off weapon attack but I don't think you have a fundamental understanding of what makes NL's OP. Sharp eyes literally increase an NL's damage by 50% roughly, for context, a corsair with SI & SE only gets an increase of like 20%. Alchemist helps too as it gave a 5 minute increase of apples while other classes had to use 2. NL's aren't really built to grind at mobs since they have no mob control skill. Avenger does mob damage but you have no rush skill to really maximize it, its a very ineffective way to train NL's imo. The only true way around it is not to boss or have a DrK friend, which tbh most people don't fund drks because even with Hp washing to max Hp you're utilizing 15k HP to do as much damage as a hero. Tbh if you want to discourage the idea of Hp washing, you need to buff HP scrolls or buff drk knights do as much damage as buccs. The solutions you give aren't viable in some pieces of content though, and I'm not sure it's healthy for the game to have class gated content. I'd like to see a follow up on progress when Matt/You are 155+, completing HT runs, anego, and other big hard hitting bosses. Pap/Zakum are poor examples that were developed farrrrrrrr before the idea of Hp washing was conceptualized. Tldr; If you really feel NL's at base are OP, make Alchemist ignore onyx apples or attack potions all together or nerf sharp eyes, or find a method to dump illbis to re-control the population on them. Using the two most popular classes as meso sinks I think is a short term solution but doesn't really fix the problems.
