    Running Windows 7

I downloaded the MSSetup, installed everything just fine, but upon looking through the files, there was no executable file, or really any way to open the game.

So, I downloaded the client separately and tried opening it several times, even after restarting my computer, but nothing ever activates. I even moved the client into the folder with all the other .WZ files and content and stuff.

Any help would be appreciated! I'm new here and totally looking forward to reliving the old days when MS was good and not pay-to-win.

EDIT: Well, there is an executable (.exe) file, but it's only setup, and it just tests the frequency and monitor setup, but has nothing to do with loading the game itself.

EDIT 2: So I finally got the client to at least DO something, but all it does is open a window with the infamous giant red X, with the message, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Well I know it's not a permission thing because I own the laptop and am the only user on it. But this client is opened in the folder with all the files in it, so I'd think it would be able to find it. It's not an antivirus thing either, I don't use one. Just adding in case the additional information helps ^^

Your antivirus is deleting the file because it's a false positive. Disable any and every antivirus software you have temporarily, add an exception, and re-download it. With the AV disabled, run the new files and all should work.

Are you talking about redownloading just the client, or redownloading everything?

Regardless, I've deleted every trace of Mapleroyals and disabled my antivirus entirely. As soon as I get back from class, I'll try redownloading the whole package (school wifi sucks).

My guess is that the package didn't include the client because my antivirus thought it was a fake, and downloading the client separately just doesn't seem to work.

Thanks for the quick reply! (and sorry for my slow one XD). I'll post again later if downloading without antivirus fixes the issue or not.

UPDATE: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" is still plaguing me every time I try to open it.

I redownloaded the entire package with my antivirus off, and I try to open the client that came with the installed files, but I keep getting that error message about administrative permissions or whatever. I tried going into properties, checking "full control" to execute the file and all that fun stuff, but nothing seems to be working. Just getting that same stupid message. Antivirus isn't an issue, as I've had it off since re-downloading the whole thing.

Any other potential suggestions? Again, I'm definitely the only user on the laptop with 100% administrative control, so I don't know why it's being blocked.

EDIT: Also, in case it's worth noting...maybe it is a permission thing - every time I try to move the files around, it makes me confirm with administrator position or whatever. It's so obnoxious, I can't figure out why there isn't a button for "yes, I am the almighty prophet, allow everything to open!" I highly doubt there's a problem with the file itself or the pathway or anything.

    PROBLEM RESOLVED ^___^
All it took was uninstalling my antivirus :p

I'd close this topic but I don't know how.

Glad it fixed! What AV were you using by chance? Sounds like one of the obnoxious ones like Norton

It's called Sophos, we get it for free through our university so it's not that great. I'm no fool when it comes to operating anti-viruses, but this one wouldn't let me do anything that I wanted, which is what was so frustrating to me. I managed to find the part of the client that was raising the red flag, but it wouldn't let me do anything like "allow" it or mark it as safe or anything. I tried ending all the processes related to the AV and re-installing and downloading the client, but it still marked the flag somehow. So now it's uninstalled and will remain off.

Thanks again for your help, I never would've guessed that it was an AV issue, I just would've kept trying to figure out the "permissions" garbage, administrator of the computer and whatnot.

    Since this problem is resolved.

    @Off Topic:
I just want to add that because you are running windows 7, even though the laptop is yours, there are multiple hidden users on your hard drive, one which is TrustedInstaller. This user "owns" 90% of your windows system files and folders in an attempt to protect them from deletion and editing. But it may get in your way. (you will notice when you get access denied errors even though you are admin)

Everyone is a fool when operating antivirus software...
