The purpose of making this guide is to help new players learn about MapleRoyals and just provide general advice/tips. Personally, I started playing ~March 2020. After playing for a few days, I quickly realized the high amount of mistakes that would affect me long term. I made a new character afterwards, and it was weeks later that I would realize there were STILL many mistakes made even after reading countless guides online. I really wanted to make this guide so that other people don't fall into the traps that I've fallen for myself. A little bit about MapleRoyals... - THIS IS AN OLD SCHOOL SERVER. PLEASE BE WARNED THAT THERE'LL BE COUNTLESS HOURS GRINDING. IT WILL NOT BE EASY!!! - This is pre-big bang, but with some additional content. This also means explorers only! - There is no special all purpose npc. Also, there is no npc that you can talk to that will level you up for free. - Most NX items are permanent and tradeable - MapleRoyals has rules set in place and staff to enforce them. You will be shown these rules when you login for the first time, PLEASE READ THEM CAREFULLY. 2. Your Goals Your goals will change how you play MapleRoyals. It can definitely be quite punishing if your long term goals are not defined. Though the following are not all the possible goals in MapleRoyals, I think that they are a few common ones. For fun This is typically the least punishing way of playing. Enjoyment comes mostly from making friends and completing personal goals. There's not too much of a "guide" on how to play this way. After all, you just need to have fun! For the MESOS If you didn't know already, Meso is the in-game currency of MapleRoyals. This is a common goal of merchants. The goal is to earn all the mesos you can possible! I find this as a semi-punishing goal. Here, you really have to learn a lot about the free market. Prices will frequently change and sometimes for reasons you just can't foretell. As a noobie, the mapleroyals price guides by Tiff and Shay are your best friends. Also be wary of the people standing in the FM entrance, they may not be trying to give you the best prices possible. For Bossing IMO, this is definitely one of the most punishing goals of the game. The goal is to take down the big villains of MapleRoyals such as Zakum, Horntail, Auf Haven, (maybe pink bean in the future). The reason this is punishing to new players is due to HP. Though this may not sound logical, but some bosses can and will deal damage equal to more than the possible base HP of certain classes. For example: A maxed level (200) bowman has approximately ~6400 base HP, but toad boss deals ~15500 magic damage that can't be dodged. Luckily, players have figured out a way to manipulate and increase max HP. This is called HP Washing. Essentially, players will opt to increase their INT stat via AP points or equipment because INT increases the amount of MP gained when leveling up. However, excess MP can be transferred into HP via an AP reset purchased from the cash shop. I won't talk about this more in this guide, because there are countless in depth guides available. This is extremely expensive and almost always has to be done from the very beginning of making a character. 3. My Advice It's really hard to play this game without making any mistakes. You will almost ALWAYS run into issues that you haven't thought of before. Luckily for us, the great community of MapleRoyals has made an infinitely amount of guides available here on the forums! If you have a question, GOOGLE IT! Use the search phrase : "Mapleroyals" + "what ever you are asking". For Example: I wanted to find out how much damage each boss deals, so i googled "mapleroyals boss hp survive" and the first link is Piffy's Guide which is perfect for giving me the info I need. Next, look for a guild! I promise you. The Mapleroyals community may be small, but it is one of the nicest communities I have come to know. Most players are willing to help out. A guild is a really good way to meet new people and make friends. Guilds can help you with questions, quests, and even going bossing. JOIN THE DISCORD! It may not be the most active discord in the world, but there are so so so many helpful players on there. Just to name a few Dave & ilyssia! THANK YOU SO MUCH! But please remember to try and google first! Most answers are there anyways. VOTE FOR NX EVERYDAY. When I first started I didn't vote at all. It only takes 1 minute and nets you 8000 NX a day. You can use this for cosmetic clothing, Pets, AP resets, Gachapon and more! Don't hesitate to do this. It can only help you enjoy the game more! 4. Mesos Okay if you've made it this far and haven't fallen asleep or gone to another thread. I think these are the juiciest tips of the entire guide. As you play the game more and more, you'll realize it's kind of like real life. Everything costs mesos. To "progress" in the game, you need mesos. It's not easy to just play the game with no funding at all. So the question comes down to HOW do I get mesos?? Well as a new player, I'd say that it's not too difficult to earn a small fortune by yourself with the following... One Time Quests: (Google these quests names and you'll find a guide) -Mystery of Niora Hospital (lv25) - Decent Exp as well. Rewards you with a raggedy old cape which is worth ~25m -Mason the Collector (lv60) - Provides you with a 3/11 chance to get an Omok Game worth ~200m -Unknown Love (lv85) - Rewards you with a scroll for overall for int 30% worth ~30m Repeatable Quests: - Protect Ludibrium (lv80) (Google "Mapleroyals Papulatus Pre-quest") - At the end of the quest, the clown npc provides you with an item "Piece of Cracked Dimension" that is used to summon the boss Papulatus. Instead of summoning him, you can sell this item to people for ~4-5m. The best part is that you can talk to the clown once per day and he will give you a new "piece of cracked dimension." - Amoria Party Quest aka APQ (lv40) (google "mapleroyals APQ guide") - This requires you to get married (can google that guide). This is can be done 4 times a day. There is a chance of picking up "onyx apples" during the bonus round. These apples are one of the best attack buffs for bossing and go for ~12m-13m (at the current time) EACH. On average, you should be getting ~4 apples a day. Leeching This is by far the most lucrative method of earning money, but it is also far more difficult than all the previously mentioned quests. This is a service done by mage players. Leeching is when a mage kills monsters and other players in the party "leech" exp off of them. The following facts make leeching profitable. - All mage classes have an ultimate spell in their 4th job that allows them to attack a large portion of map hitting up to 15 monsters at a time - No other class can clear a map of monsters faster than mages - Exp is shared among party members Together, this makes having a mage kill monsters while you are in party faster than manually killing monsters. This is most particularly noticeable in the higher levels starting around level ~80. For Example: leeching from lv 90-93 takes approximately 1 hour, but manually killing monsters from lv 90-93 takes multiple hours. Because of this, mages will be paid ~70m an hour and upwards of ~140m an hour for higher level leech. Bossing This is starts quite "late" in the game at lv 135. Mapleroyals is really good in TRUST. At this point, many low level players will be buying certain boss equipment (most common is zakum helmet) from bossers. They follow the bossers into kill the bosses and then pick up the equipment. In exchange, players will pay the bossers who killed the boss. The payment comes after the equipment is picked up. Please do not take equipment without asking and run. These services are based solely on trust and breaking it will only decrease the amount of sellers in the server. The money earned from these services are not a lot especially since it is split between the entire bossing group, so please refrain from breaking the trust. Often times the money earned will be ~100m split between 6 bossers netting them about ~16m after taxes for spending 20-30 minutes killing the boss. 5. Starting out I know this is a lot to take in and if this is the first guide you've read, there's a lot more you need to read. My final piece of advice is to you is to make a mage. You won't regret it at all. While you are figuring out what your long term goals are, you can sell leech and consistently build up your wealth. 6. Credits Thank you to everyone who's guides I have used (Plenty, Tim, Dave, Shay, Tiff, Piffy, please leave your name if I didn't mention!). Thank you to the community and guildies (SNACK rules) who are always willing to help me TLDR : GOOGLE EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU DO IT
I love this thread. I really like the effort you put in to help new players out, nice! And really cool that you've thought about including my and Shay's priceguide, let's all help each other a little bit <3
Awesome guide! One more think i'll advice, read all the TnC of MapleRoyals clearly, as you wouldn't want to get banned for not knowing the rules.
