When writing a guide, I always see a spoiler code going crazy all the time when I try and preview the guide and everytime I try to fix it, it just reappears. @Katsuruka @Chokladkakan
I suspect you have BB Code that starts outside of the spoiler but ends inside of it, or similar. Something like this: Code: [b] Some text... [spoiler] A Spoiler. [/b] [/spoiler] If not that, I'm not sure what you're talking about and would appreciate actual details.
I had to fix up a certain portion of my guide by copying and pasting another portion that wasn't bugged out and it worked out fine. There are times where I write up a code and after previewing it, about 3-4 more empty spoiler codes start popping up for no reason and it looks like this: During the time I posted this thread, I was writing up on a section and when I tried to preview it, there were two spoiler codes that split the entire section in two parts with 2 different spoilers whereas I only typed in one code for that one section.
I actually fixed it after my solution above so I can't recreate the same situation, but this has happened for almost all my guides before. I'll post the problem whenever it happens again because it always comes back time and time again. Code: [IMG]https://maplewiki.net/images/a/a6/Ice_Demon.gif[/IMG][IMG]http://www.mapletip.com/images/maplestory-monsters/02290042.png[/IMG][IMG]http://www.mapletip.com/images/maplestory-monsters/02290043.png[/IMG] Ice Demon Prequests to unlock? (Yes/No): Yes Drop/Price of Mastery Book 20: Griffey ~ 5m Drop/Price of Mastery Book 30: Papulatus ~ 1m-5m[/FONT] Additional Information: [spoiler] Pretty useless skill seeing as Chain Lightning does more than this skill and Blizzard can handle maps with more than one target. To start the quest, you'll need to find a Frozen Ice Storybook from Blue Kentarus, which isn't too hard seeing as the map where Manon spawns has plenty of these guys running around. After that, turn in the book to your 1st job instructor and follow the quest time line and follow the rest of the quest line. Here is a quick reference guide to unlocking Ice Demon:[/spoiler][spoiler] [LIST=1] [*]Hunt for the Frozen Ice Storybook from the Blue Kentarus [*]Once the frozen ice book is found , head over the your 4th job instructor [*]Your instructor will asks you to talk to Grendel in Ellina [*]Then Grendel will ask you to also head to Nath and talk to 3rd job instructor [*]Your instructor will ask to to talk to Jeff (the gatekeeper in Nath Mountains). Jeff will then send you to Vogan. [*]Vogan will ask you to create a bottle to carry some liquid. To create the bottle, collect the following:1 Moon Stone, 2 Orihalcon Plate, and 30 Ice shards from Grim Phantom Watches. [*]Once done , talk to Jeff and enter a new area (pick first option) [*]Inside talk to the ice to gather up the liquid from it. Use the new bottle you obtain to gain the Ice Demon skill [/LIST] [/spoiler] Right down the middle of this section is where the random spoiler code comes through. Also, the bold code repeats itself for no reason, but it doesn't do anything to the finished product so I'm fine with it. I always create my guides using the rich text editor, but if there's a huge glaring problem, I go to the regular BB code editor.
I am fairly confident this is because of the reason stated above. You have BB Code starting outside of the spoiler and ending inside of it (or the other way around). Have an example: Code: [b] Some bold text. [spoiler] Some more bold text. [/b] Some less bold text. [/spoiler] Some bold text. Spoiler Some more bold text. Spoiler Some less bold text. Notice how there is only one spoiler tag, and notice also how the [b] tag ends inside of the spoiler, but starts outside of it. Edit: I should add: the solution to this problem is to actually be careful using BB Code in large, complicated posts. Try using the BB Code editor instead of the rich text editor.
Would adding in the bold of the final draft fix the problem? Any reason you know why it does that? I can remember writing up my leeching guide and running into this problem AT LEAST 20 times and spending a few hours trying to figure out what's wrong. I love spoiler codes as you can see.
Write the text in a competent text editor that has search and replace functionality, perhaps. I should clarify: it isn't bold tags in particular that causes this problem, I used those only as an example. The spoilers will react badly if any BB Code isn't entirely outside of or or entirely inside of it, as it were.
Alright, so I used Google Docs and deleted every single code except for the bare minimum. I'll continue this guide using the BB Code Editor instead. Just to be clear, as long as all the codes are within the spoilers that belong inside, I shouldn't run into this issue anymore, right?
Umm... no that it won't happen again or no that it will happen again? Edit: So far, so good. I'm slowly adding back everything that I used in the Rich Text Editor and it's coming together nicely. There was a lot that the Rich Text Editor added and from now on whenever I make a long guide, I'll use the BB Code Editor despite it not looking as pretty as the Rich Text Editor.
No as in the affirmative of your negative question; it shouldn't happen again. The rich text editor, like pretty much all things of its ilk, adds a lot of crud. It is in their nature.
That's kind of frustration. I guess rich text editor should only be used for quick replies to threads then. Everything has been going smoothly so this thread can be answered and closed.
I absolutely hate the Rich Text Editor when it comes to editing anything with bb code in it! >_< I usually end up having to fix things in the BB Code Editor. @Chokladkakan - I remember talking to you about my dislike of the Rich Text Editor some time ago and saying that I wished that the BB Code Editor had the option of buttons to add BB code, like the old vBulletin 3.8.7 code editor did (or like the current Rich Text Editor does). I vaguely remember it being possible but not a practical idea for some reason - could you refresh my memory on this, please?
