Wondering if the jump quest is completely mandatory? Have read some guides on here that show I can do this maze instead of the jump quest to be able to get access to Zakum and am wondering if that is still available to do? There is mixed opinions when I have asked people before: some say you have to do the jump quest and the maze is not available, others say I can still do the maze. The jump quest is incredibly difficult for me and I don't have a zhelm on any of my characters because I can't get past the jump quest. Yes, I understand there are some guides on youtube and here to help me get through the jump quest, but jump quests in Maple have always been incredibly difficult for me.
There is an alternative to the JQ. It’s a series of quests, my friend did it to avoid the JQ cuz he enjoys questing and he told me it was roughly 10-12 hours of questing. I’m sure if you google Zak jq alternative you’d be able to find a better answer. GL

I've recently posted in that thread to confirm that the quest is still available. I have also indicated an estimated timing for each step. I must say that it is long and tedious, 120+ mages have an advantage as the longest processes are of killing mobs for etc.
Yes. Star rock and moon rock would probably take you 10h+ if you hunt the ores from scratch. Unfortunately, The etc from blin, ice drake and fire drake are untradable which took the bulk of my time. Iron hog hoofs, flaming feather and mateon tentacles and plateon helmets are usually not found in fm when using an owl. Good luck. Enjoy your journey, it gives you a sense of accomplishment!
Actually the Blin map has been buffed from what I last recall. The spawn used to be mehhhh, but it looks better now. Iron hog hoofs can be easily farmed at the hidden map to Mushmom Flaming feather drops from MP3 (Singapore) map Mateon and Plateon drops are just grind and grind more affairs When doing the quest line, put on some good music. Fingers to the keyboard and grind away. Before you know it, you are almost at the end. Calmer than the keyboard smashing induced Zakum JQ for me.
For me, I never needed to do any alternative quest for Zakum. I just do the normal pre-quest. The first stage of collecting 7 keys isnt hard, just requires patience. The second stage of the jump quest is also not hard if you do it properly, and jump at the right times. I personally have finished that part in about 1 hour or less, I just know how to do it right and so it becomes easy. And the last part is just 30 gold teeth, also not hard. Overall, if you know how to do it, the normal prequest isnt hard. I finished it many times in the past in the last few years, its very easy when you know how to do it and you dont have to be an expert at jump quests to do it.
Good for you. However, i think the alternative was implemented for people who had real life issues with the JQ. Hand-eye coordination or something similar (disease/illness) making it difficult for them to complete this JQ.
