Hi guys, Im trying to make a sniper with HP washing. I understand the HP washing mechanic (A): 1, Add base INT + INT eqs 2. keep adding until reach target (eg 200 base INT at lv60), and then add DEX thereafter 3. That point onwards, my MP growth per level will be fixed (rate corresponding to total INT where i stopped adding) 4. Hold on to that amount of base INT, and then one-off reset all my INT back to DEX whenever I need to fight for real (eg: lv 135) 5. At any point in between, i can obviously switch my accumulated MP to HP. with that normal approach, I need to hold on to my 200 base INT until lv 135. now my suggestion is, what if I (B): refer to item 5: I switch my accumulated MP to DEX instead? I can do this at early level, so say by lv60, I will have 200 base INT + 100 base DEX + 800MP, rather than 200 base INT + 4 DEX + 2000MP with this approach, I can hold on to 200 Base INT even longer (eg until lv170), because I added DEX from MP, although my HP will be low in (A), from level 1 to 135, im storing my excess AP in the form of MP or HP (I dont need MP or HP anyway at this point) in (B), from level 1 to 135, im storing my excess AP in the form of MP or DEX (I DO need DEX at this point) I would have "wasted" the extra MP on DEX, but I compensate those wasted MP by adding HP from INT? <- I will keep track of how much DEX I added from MP, so I don't add too much DEX in conclusion: (A): MP -> HP; INT -> DEX (B): MP -> DEX(Capped) ; INT +MP(excess) -> HP.................(Cap DEX at lv*5+4 so I dont over add DEX at the expense of HP) is the HP yield lesser from INT, compared to yield from MP directly? Let me know if any of this description is confusing.
This isn't possible. In order to make this simple and understandable, you first need to understand that <HP/MP> and <Main stats (Str/dex/int/luk)> belong to 2 different realms. The Maplestory system recognizes the addition of fresh AP to main stats as a norm. However, if you add any fresh AP to HP/MP stat, the system thinks it was a mistake and allows the AP reset to extract the equivalent amount of AP that was "accidentally" added to HP/MP stat. The moment you extract the equal amount of AP that was added to HP/MP pool, the system shuts down the gateway between HP/MP stats and main stats, since all the mistakes have been rectified. In your case, you have not added any fresh AP to HP/MP stats hence you cannot take away any AP from MP.
I know in order to initiate a wash, you need to spend at least one fresh Ap to HP/MP but the "bug" is, after you assigned one AP (call this unit) to HP/MP, it needs to work out how many units you need to take out from your HP/MP to rectify your mistake. The number of units to rectify isn't directly = how much AP you assigned to HP/MP, but its ([current MP] -[minimum MP]) / [MP gain per AP assigned] <- correct me if I am wrong you put only one unit to HP/MP, but the system thinks you assigned ([current MP] -[minimum MP]) / [MP gain per AP assigned] number of units into HP/MP, therefore allows you to take out the units you created from thin air, more than what you actually add by "mistake" This is why HP wash work, you created extra units from thin air So what if, I created 10 units from thin air (stored as MP), now I add one fresh AP into MP to trigger the calculation: (units to rectify = ([current MP] -[minimum MP]) / [MP gain per AP assigned] > 1 unit assigned), giving a total of 11 units in HP/MP so I can assign 10 units of MP into DEX, and put back 1 unit of MP back into INT?
That's now how it works, at least in royals. Where did you get this formula [current MP] -[minimum MP]) / [MP gain per AP assigned]? And have you tested whether it works here?
I did not get this formula from anywhere, its just an educated guess. But the formula is not important at all. the key question is: 1. as long as we add 1 fresh AP intp HP/MP, we will trigger a calculation which allows us to take out MORE AP that we assigned into HP/MP, basically withdrawing the accumulated AP we created. 2. the points added to HP DON'T have to be from MP directly, it can come from INT added, and then the main stats which WAS SUPPOSED to be recovered from INT, now gets recovered from MP instead basically my suggestion works as long as we kick start it by adding fresh AP to HP/MP
And I'm telling you again, this is technically impossible in this server. The system doesn't allow you to take out more than what you already added to HP/MP. Your educated guess was basically pre-rejected by the developer of this server. If this was possible, anyone can make 999 str 999 dex 4 int 4 luk warrior which is completely absurd.
But doesn't this then contradict the idea of HP washing? If you: 1. added one fresh AP into HP, and then 2. move one point from MP to HP (basic HP washing), then that fresh AP will be gone forever because you spent the rectified AP. Unless the truth is at step 2, the system assumes you havent rectify your mistake because its still within the HP/MP pool, nothing has gone back to the stats pool Apologies i havent played royals for more than a year, I dont remember exactly the order of adding/removing AP. But I am a 100% sure when i wash my DK more than a year ago, I had only assigned one fresh AP into HP/MP (cant remember which), and then just morph from MP to HP. I don't remember rectifying the "mistake" - taking away 1 point from HP/MP back into my stats. <- does this mean im still in the state of lacking 1 stat?
this wouldn't be practical in the real case because you the difference between your [Current MP] and [minimum MP] would have been used up in the process of withdrawing MP. leaving no extra units available
It looks like you didn't read my 1st reply carefully. HP and MP stats belong to the same realm. Switching AP between these 2 stats can happen infinitely. Only when that 1 AP is retracted from the pool of <HP/MP>, it's considered "gone" or "spent" from that realm as it enters a different realm of <Str/Dex/Int/Luk> stats.
What sparky was explaining is spot on. In a nutshell, your AP to STR/DEX/INT/LUK cannot exceed your level, so there's no way of taking that additional HP/MP and then putting it into your main/secondary stats without the level restriction. Example (very crude one, if I may) at Level 100 you should have 100 x 5AP (5 per level up)...so you can't exceed 500 stats in STR/DEX/INT/LUK. Quite a number of Royalers have experimented etc and I think Shiyui's calculator plus Jooon's (spelling?) describe the HP washing process quite well. In my case, I used the calculator to key in all the parameters and goals. Referred to the "advice" in that file (when to add INT, when to MP wash and when to start reversing INT back to main stats) and I'm pretty happy with the results.
The reason I brought this up because there was a claim from MapleSEA, a high profile player called "PerfectNight", actually washed to get extra LUK (NL). If that works in mapleSEA, i assume it should work here too, though my intention wasn't to get extra stat, it was to make my HP washing journey easier.
