    nls have:
-best avoid/dodge in game (high avoid+ss)
    -best mobility in game (haste+fj)
-a skill that boosts mesos dropped (meso up)
-a skill that boosts exp/droprate (taunt)
-a skill that boosts potion potency (alchemist)
-best increased damage from attack potions
-best dps against non brick walls (like krex)

    corsairs have:
-best dps against a brick wall (like krex)

so i think nls are better

Nightlords dps suck when they're alone

As a nightlord you need sharp eyes wich means if you play NL you must have an SE mule or a bowman partner to duo

Corsairs dont really need any buffs to do nice dps, there is a catch tho, corsairs require that you learn when to dismount your ship so it doesnt break so you have to pay a lot of attention to the boss attacks and know what you're doing, thats why most people go for nightlords, they just spam triple throw and thats all the skill required to use one.

I think people hate it because its been the meta since the beginning. You need well over 50b to fund it in all perfect gear as well.
I like mages more, but I’ve always been a caster in any game I’ve ever played, even though they’re useless.

I think nl’s are icky lol

    - nl's have the biggest cocks (confirmed by GMs)
    - nl's live up to 90 years old, compared to the average of 60 for the rest of the population.
    - whitest teeth and wear the freshest clothes
    - considerably richer (irl and ingame) than most players
    - they have ties with the government

the only con i can think of is that they're always having sexual relations with girls, it can be considered a pro, but it must be tiring for them.

Just play the class you like and do not care about what other people say.

As a person who have played both Night Lord and Corsair, here are my comments:

    - Night Lords (NL) have high mobility, high avoid and extremely high Damage per Second (DPS) - that's why this class is the most wanted in bossing. Also, their attack potions last 50% longer thanks to Alchemist and NL is the easiest ranged attacker class to HP wash. But NL relies on Sharp Eyes (SE) to maximize their damage and funding a NL is very hard.

    - Corsairs are more fun to play (skills vary), they do not have to rely on SE like Night Lord to have high DPS. Corsairs also do not have to worry about mobs block attacking like NL, thanks to Bulleyes and Homing Beacon, and they are cheaper to play. But Corsairs require more skills (mount/dismount the ship) and they are harder to HP wash due to the MP formula.

it is far from useless. most players here have at least one mage. might not be very useful for bossing parties but that isnt everything there is.

Maybe im playing my NL wrong but why do ppl keep saying NL is expensive? u need to buy att gear like every other class, ppl use ~76att cravens for mid game so thats like ~1.3b and perf wep for end game (so basically ~20b for all)
The only different thing u need to pay for is cilbi but even tho u buy 3-5 of them and ur fine. Alchemist makes u pay less for att pots(and normal pots #avoid) so for me NL is cheapest attacker to make including cheaper hp wash

Realistically, HP washing archers and sairs cost more than NL. Cost of standard end game weapon don't differ much unless we are looking at a perfect DPS which is rarer than a black albino. NL with high avoid consumes way less pots compared to classes like Drk who chows cheese, which costs more than ginger ale, nearly every sec while they engage in combat.

The "NL is expensive" concept is stuck in the community because RWTers raised the bar. Majority of cheaters go for the most convenient yet strong class with which they can comfortably enjoy the end game content. Highly HP washed NL with OP gear, out of nowhere, is a typical sign of RWTer. Because of these fellas, washing to absurdly high HP (20~30k clean) appeals to be a norm for an end game NL. Thanks to them, mediocre geared NLs struggle to join bosses because people who tasted the comfort and the swiftness with the cheating NLs raise the bar for recruitment (HP and range). This is why a lot of newbie NLs quit once they realize that they aren't welcomed without exceptional funding - hence they say "To play NL, you need to be rich".

If we can play in the absence of cheaters, way less OP end game NLs will be present in the server and majority would be middle tier NLs who are little HP washed with average stat gear.

    NL is bad? LOL

For Bossing wise, NL imo is hands down the Best and versatile attacker class simply because of how much single target damage output they can provide.
I’d just share alittle on how this class works in Horntail, being the biggest attraction of Royals Bossing scene for our current expansion.

Firstly.. i hate to say this but
I can’t rmb when is the last time i Asked around and said “R> Corsairs” to horntail,
meanwhile as i’m typing this post i’m looking for several NL to start my boss run with me.

    Pros
    -Ranged.

-Alchemist, allowing one to have 50% additional duration time with The apples they use.

-Easy to Play. Its pretty brain dead when your using this class compared to one bossing with DK/Corsair.
As long as you are washed to survive that particular content. Its almost impossible for You to screw up compared to the classes i mentioned above.

    -Shadow Shifter and avoidability.
Basically Not just being one of the best DPS in game, the survivability of this class is insane, better SED Compared to any warrior classes in the game, only second behind the #1 sed, Shadowers.
You use significantly less potions since the amount of times something hits u.
imo, A warrior falls down Platforms way more then any NLs in HT lol.
    Shifter > Stance.

    cons
-Washing is Needed. Be prepared to spend more money on APRs.

-simply u have to be super relient on Sharp Eyes. Where once that buff is active, improves your damage so many times. (Every other NL nowadays just makes their own personal bloodwashed SE mule to solve this problem)

-Expensive? Well. One might say its expensive, but then again, its easily knowned as the best end game class options out of the many others.

If you want to be OP, then this is the class for you.
Like mentioned above by many, NL’s entry bar is highest of them all. Be prepared to create not just one but several Bishops or archmages to fund it up to
    The level of quality.

But then again, with very entry level gears, you already can particpate in almost all bosses without much difficulty.

Sadly i’m not a NL player and Overall this is just my 2 cents on this ridiculously broken class.

Like what hampa said, its far from useless. I would say priest/mages are hands down the best class in the game. Being the most played classes.
Why? Simply cause its the only class that opens up HUGE opportunities for you to make insane amount of money, that itself is really strong.

With a established Bishop on hand. Making a NL/Corsair like you are considering in your post might not be as difficult simply with a solid base source of mesos income ingame.

When it comes to bossing, you are looking at a more supportive point of view. Compared to your original post.
If you do not enjoy playing a supportive role.
Then bossing with a Bishop will be quite a tough cup of tea for you to enjoy.

I used the word useless because OP is asking about bossing, mages can’t boss (besides bishop) i didn’t mean they were useless to the community.

I'm pretty upset, but I'll try to be respectful. I'm sure you've heard this from many others, but the nostalgia goes away a lot quicker than people would hope for when they play a private server. With that in regard, why is royals specifically so afraid of nerfing NLs to balance them with the other attackers and buffing mages so that they at least have a chance of bossing being the lowest DPS (with the most simple solution as adding an extra line for their single target abilities, like some other servers do). Are they afraid that people will cry like immature kids and leave the server because their favorite, stupidly OP class got nerfed?

I would like an explanation as to why this would "break the game". I know this reply is late, but even in 2020 nothing's changed. I'm not talking about the baby nerfs and buffs royals did to NLs and mages respectfully.

The argument of "it costs more to make a NL" is BS because if NLs were nerfed to the point where they were on par with other attackers their gear wouldn't be as expensive. This would add more versatility to this already small versatile version of MS.

This frustration has been from years of playing a mage in GMS and not being able to boss (unless with friends/guild/alliance) and I don't believe in leeching people so that they can have fun while I keep leeching. And I'm not about to make another class just to play the game (this was mostly back then when I was a teen).

And no, I haven't made a mage in this server because of this reason. I made a DrK and it's still frustrating, but I'm somewhat enjoying it.
Leeching is also stupid, but that's for another debate I'm sure you've seen before in another thread.

If I'm talking to the wrong staff then I would the answer from person in charge of royals (probably Matt). Maybe there's a thread where he's already replied to someone with his reasoning.

Again, sorry for the late reply, sorry for the frustration. I know you guys aren't obligated to answer this but I would like one even knowing it won't change shit.

You do know that this was posted in 2019, I became Staff in feb 2020. We don’t get a brand new Staff account, they change everything over.

I’m not answering your questions because of that, but I also didn’t want to be rude and ignore you, either.

Nerco’ed a pretty old post lol

Before you mention about further nerfing NL, I would really suggest you to train one from 1 through 135 without leeching and or any funds from other characters.

Likely You'll be able to reach the target level, but then realise that many bosses isnt an option for you because you just dont have enough hp. Continue grinding you go.
