I have played the game for about three months with my friends, because we all new here and dont have much fund for the hp washing, i decided to be a drk and help the mates for bossing. Everything was fine at the beginning, we level up together and tried Krex, Zak, Scar and Shao. Now I have a 130 mage which focuses on leeching in the Ulu2 and a level 155 drk which is balanced perfectly for Drk dont need much aprs for hp washing. However, after many rounds of bossing, i found the diffculties of being a Drk, i cant make mistakes for the cost is death and may ruin the whole party effort, i also found it seems really hard or even impossiable for the people lack of skill and experience like me to zerk in higher level bosses like the one in neo tokyo, i also dont want to become the burden of the team instead of the necessary support that in my first thought.
So shall i give up as a drk, make it a HB mule, and try some new jobs like paladin or nl? or drk actually has a way to zerk relative safely or help the team in higher level bosses?
I really like being a drk and it may cost a lot of time to leech for the fund, but i think i can endure that for the benefit of the party.
@sparky95 I have read your many threads and it helps me a lot, I saw you have experienced many jobs too, can you give me some advices? really thanks.

Hey, im currently 13x drk, cant really help you with the hardest bosses, but i can tell you that i saw many Drks doing all kinds of bosses, so i dont think its impossible, its just mean u need to understand how to play this class efficiently. for me its a challenge so i look forward to the more advanced lvls.

Thanks for the reply!I know we can do these bosses for most of them wont cause damage higher than 15K with level 30 achilies, but can doesnt mean stable,I am now in a team with friends which may try these bosses everyday when we fit the requirements, the really high risk to zerk may cause many troubles which like i said, become the burden of the party. The zerk also cant provide dps higher than other jobs to compensate that risk, actually lower than heros and pally as i know.

If you look at the feedback section, you'll see a long thread dedicated to drks and how they are being perceived as crippled due to the zerk mechanic. That being said, while some bosses may be difficult, if I'm not wrong none of them are impossible except maybe auf haven. Its your choice at the end of the day whether you want to try and perfect this style of gameplay or stick to something safer. Personally I made a drk so I could have more engaging gameplay than holding down 1 key and watching a movie, so learning how to zerk is something fun for me

Thanks for the reply! I know zerk with risk is drk all about and the concept attracts me too, but i and my friends may try these bosses all with no experience and as we all know, these bosses may only avail to challenge 1 or 2 times for one day, i just dont want to see that its my fault to stuck the party for a long long time, so can you give me a sight like after how many deaths, an average drk can be skillful for these bosses? thank you.

honestly it depends on how long it takes you to learn the mechanics of each boss well & recognise the animations/sounds. maybe 5-10 runs?definitely helps if you've done the boss on another char that's a bit less stressful for sure

In my opinion, DRK is a good class for DRK enthusiasts. HB is also useful for helping the party meet HP requirements in bosses like Shao and Toad. In bosses with dispels like HT tho, HB is not really good enough so DRK is not really considered part of the meta.

I think DRK is to Hero as Corsair is to NL. Technically, DRK and Corsair outdamage their counterparts in perfect conditions but require a lot of effort. So, in practice Hero and NL usually perform better and are more relaxing to play.

DK is fun, i had fun with mine.
yes keeping Hp below is challenging, it was worst before they buff the serk requirement.
I use milk (5k) as key potion for auto, keeping Icecream pop (2k) handy to keep my hp between 10-14.9k to serk effectively.
my suggestion is remove "rush" from the keyboard when bossing, that killed me the most (zak/krex/HT) when i accidentally pressed it.
once u die enough number of times, u will know which is the key reason for your death and you can then counter it :)

Getting into HT party is tough, most atkers are washed to high HP, so they do not require HB anymore... so HT with guildies and friends are the best

Dark Knight is indeed a difficult class to play as you advance to higher-level bosses. Some of them may feel impossible at first, but there is always a solution. For me, the best part about playing Drk was overcoming these trials and finessing the control to a master level. Drk pride is a strong motivation.

I will share my story in the hope it may encourage you to stay in this path.

I empathize with your current struggles as I used to be in your shoe. My early days were very rough for I never played this class before coming to royals. My 1st ever Zakum run was at lvl 135 with guildies. I had no stance (didn't even know what it was) and with 40% zerk, I was too scared to even try it. I ended up doing pretty much nothing other than getting bumped around like a frog - before dying shortly. My guildies criticized me non-stop. Later, I learned stance but was still afraid of dying so I stayed at 100% hp with apple. A high lvl NL in pub run saw this and rage quitted the run. I still didn't give up joining exp runs till I saw Hampa in forum shoutbox, whom a friend referred to as a great Drk main. I asked him for tips concerning berserk control in Zak. In a single sentence, he explained the ducking method with adequate pot usage. I didn't really understand the mechanism at first but still gave it a try. After numerous embarrassing deaths, I made it work and the whole maple world turned 180 degrees. I was no longer afraid to explore new things. Many were challenging at first (Crow, Bigfoot, Horntail, Toad, Auf and many more) but overcoming that challenge brought enough joy and satisfaction to continue this path.

In 2017, I had a fixed bossing squad comprised of friends. At this point, making mistakes in boss runs didn't bring much shame for they understood the difficulty I had to face. I even threatened them in a joking manner that I'll die and cut the HB supply to buyers if they fooled around. Everyone makes mistakes but that's what makes this game thrilling and challenging. Bishops are there for a reason, to cover your mistakes. As you gain more confidence through practice, these concerns about burdening others will naturally disappear. In most cases, Drks perform better than other jobs because we naturally focus a lot more than others who slack due to the simplicity of their class mechanics.

Drk buff seems prominent as well so don't give up this class just yet. Don't let the rumors discourage you before you actually give it a go. Many experienced Drks are available to help out with guides and tips.

Now that you have a mage, with access to farming/leeching, raising & washing a new class isn't much of a problem.
What you should consider is the objective you want to achieve and look at the pros and cons of these classes according to the meta.

Since you probably know the pros & cons of Drk, I'll just leave some on regards to paladin from my perspective.

    Pros
    - Not as expensive to wash, 20k HP is enough keep additional MP for 30k potential by wearing int gears and some base int during level progression.
    - High demand for HT static parties ( Paladin + Crash mule is real godly)
    - Hits good DPS with entry-level gears
    - 1H build setup with 15% block and stance. You don't need to reposition much while attacking.
    - Relax and hold down 1 button, keep things simple

    - Supportive Gameplay
S tier in Auf Haven able to control it to a certain extend
    Makes Horntail/Zak runs significantly faster.

    Cons
    - Limits itself at 199k, meaning to say u will have a ceiling of growth eventually.
    https://royals.ms/forum/threads/pirate-king-krexels-2nd-eye-dps-tests-bucc-and-sair.145069/
Even with that ceiling, its still comparable to other classes.
    - Supportive DPS
You won't be whiting anything most of the time when your against NL/Sairs.
    - if you're using 1 handed weapon, you can't hit zakum top arms, might need to switch to 2H in between the run.
    - Not popular in CWKPQ

You're still at quite an early stage if your end game goal gears aren't built yet.
Imo the current meta does favors paladin more in a lot of ways.

Thanks for your reply, that must took a lot of time, the content means a lot to me, maybe i just afraid of touching out the saftey zone as you said, and surely we play the game for the outstanding experience and the goal that hard to achieve in the real life. I will try drk for a bit more time and experience more bosses to see whats going on, thanks again.

Thanks for your introduce to paladin, the class seems more attractive to me right now, though i have already be persuaded by sparky to try drk a bit longer, i will try to make a paladin in the spare time as you have mentioned that it is also godly as a crash mule :) , and allow me to change the class easier when i change my mind, really thanks.

I’m glad you came up with your decision!
Since both classes uses similar gears, its easy to mix and match these equips.
I recommend going for a good skis, on that spare time when you decide to give paladin a spin, all armor and attack gears can be easily shared amongst both of them and transferred over.
Make use of a perhaps self scrolled stonetooth/claymore/flamesword shield
for starters and paladin would perform well.
Its still an cheaper class afterall! [;)]

Hey!...it looks like everyone have detailed u pretty good hows the drks life in royals, and sparky mentioned something...let me adress it a bit further to clarify a point that to me..is key to progress as a drk, let me tell you a little anecdote.

Back when i was lvl 137..i finally maxed zerk, and and really wanted to try it out. I just added int gears a few lvls b4..so i didnt have 30k hp even with hb yet.
One guy from my guild back then recruited a 6 man zak and ofc i decided to join, and...it happened ...i died around 3 mins b4 arms did. The guy who recruited was a dork ,he mocked at me in all the possible ways you can imagine,but.....he said to me magic words, after they were done : "hey relmy, 2nd run?".
He was kind of a strong atacker for me back then, and i haved few other accidents running with him after...but he just proceded to do the same, mock at me.
I remember a few times when he recruited boss squads, suddenly a random pt member said to me "were full" after he call me to join,a minute or 2 of silence and then told me, "come, join us".He was clearly discussing up with pt, to take me. After then he quitted for a while and my next learning experiences were kind of bad, till i found more ppl like him, that remember this is a game, and the main reason that (most) of us loved it back then, was the social aspect of the game.

I tell you this bcs you mentioned it that youre starting with some friends, dont need to judge them, just ask yourself this, are they kind of uptight? Or more of a chill ppl who likes to laugh at everything?

Other than that..a 2nd good question could be how long do you see yourself playing?...Bcs tini tiny reward for playing drks and some other classes is the fact that..ad theyre not that easy to play, u take longer to become actually bored

And the last one is, do you preffer looks/gameplay, or efficiency?
A hero is more efficient bcs it fullfil the exact same role at a lower cost.
Pally is an amazing class aswell...but it has a really different role/mechanics......so i wouldnt compare those 2 even if both are warriors

As a Night Lord myself, I prefer a DK over any other attackers in boss runs.

They deal good damage. With SE and SI, DK will become a beast. And they do not rely much on SE so there is no problem if SE dc or dead.

They can attack several targets with a wide range, which makes Zakum and HT easier. Combine with Dragon Roar and Rush, they have good mobs control.

They have armor crash, so I don't have to see noob damage when HT uses defense up anymore.

Oh yeah, Hyper Body also. Even though I'm hp washed, I still want to have HB in the team. This is the most powerful buff because it provides survivability.
