None of those characters are banned. Please try restarting your router.

 

Well I've tried restarting my phone's hotspot (don't have a home router), can't seem to log in. Any other advice?

Have always been able to play using my phone's internet, but I did upgrade to iOS 12.1.1 this morning, might that be the issue?
