I haven't quite started yet, but I was wondering if there was an Australian-based guild or guild with lots of Australians (just for the sake of other having others on when I'm online).

I'm on break from University and wanted to play something.

Oh dang, welcome to MapleRoyals! I'm sure you'll learn to love it. I don't think there are too many active guilds that are Australian-based (which sucks since the community is kinda 40% American ), but hi I'm Australian too and I tend to always get extremely excited every time I find an Aussie too on this server, lol.
