You can recommend good movies you have recently seen here! Can be any movie from any year.
    I don't know if a thread exists.
Simply say: movie title and thats it.
No spoilers. No being dicks. Just recommend good movies.

I am making this thread because I just watched Shutter Island over the weekend and LOVED IT. I was so mind fucked, and it was great. Recommend it!
And!! I just Saw Arrival (2016) and it was a fantastic movie.

Want to share what I saw, maybe share what you have seen!!
I have popcorn time and thats where I watch a lot of my movies.
Tell me below if you want to know about popcorn time.

Me and my best friend are really into movies. She's been going for years, and I want to say it's a relatively new hobby for me (since 2014).

I personally love dramas, westerns, and horror. A well rounded plot with full, immersive characters is just too hard for me not to appreciate even if it wasn't something special or unusual like superpowers (even though I do like those things).

Some movies I thoroughly enjoyed that are recent are: The Hateful Eight; a western movie featuring Sam Jackson, The Magnificent Seven; another western shoot em up movie with Denzel Washington, The Conjuring 2; SERIOUSLY creepy, few horror movies actual scare me and this one did. Don't Breathe is a very under-hyped thriller that deserves more recognition.

Some notable mentions that aren't my favorite, but I still enjoyed them for what they are:
Hardcore Henry (if you just like action, not a strong plot), John Wick and John Wick 2 (again, for action lovers out there), and Deadpool. Also, 10 Cloverfield Lane; I like it for the psychological dilemma.

PS: Star Wars: Rogue One was WAY better than Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Check it out!

I just saw Arrival too, was really good. If your looking for more space type movies: Contact, Europa Report, and Apollo 13 are streaming.

New good horror/thrillers (which are my favorite) movies I've seen recently: The Witch, Greenroom, The Guest, It Follows, Cheap Thrills, The Invitation are all on Netflix/amazon prime right now.

Also if you haven't watched Black Mirror the TV show go do it now, it's on Netflix and is amazing.

edit a few more that are streaming:Blue Union. The Wolf of wall-street one of my all time favs of this decade. The Hateful Eight great triple A flick from Tarantino's newer style of directing and formulating plot structure.

You liked The Witch? I liked it in that aspect for character development.

EDITED: Sorry, could be counted as 'spoiler'

    The Shutter

Not to be mistaken for the American, inferior version. This one is the original Thai version.

Trainspotting, clockwork orange, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, fight club, blow, city of god, the usual suspects, pulp fiction, inglorious basterds, reservoir dogs, serbian film, dead poets society, 12 monkeys

I like movies that make you think/are with meaning behind them, if you just want to watch "mainstream" kind of movies and chill out ignore this comment :p

2004, haha. IMO it's one of the best Asian horror movie of all time. Would even say it's better than The Conjuring.

If y'all haven't watched Moonlight yet you absolutely have to. Absolutely profound movie. Totally deserved the Oscars over the overrated af La La Land (which was also an okay movie too tbf)

Do you like adventure movies? If yes, then I suggest that you consider "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" . You can find it on . Pretty cool story perfectly balanced between funny and scary

The two great movies that came to mind to me were:
Sicario - Taking down drug cartel
Windriver - Murder mystery on an Indian reservation

Both are a bit more serious/realistic than normal movies but loved them both a lot

Edit: oh forgot to mention Sicario is directed by the same guy as arival

Lord of the Rings Movies (1-3)

    The Hobbit Movies (1-3)

"The Passengers" if you liked Arrival you might want to take a look at that one.

"Running Scared" Disclaimer: nothing for weak nerves or whatever the saying is in english

"In this corner of the world"
I watched this movie on Christmas with my wife together. The tears were flowing and flowing. We couldn't get the movie out of our heads for such a long time. It's heartbreaking.

    "Inglorious Basterds"
If you want to have a laugh while watching an incredibly deep movie. Holy. That's the film to go. Christoph Waltz and Til Schweiger acting so good in this movie. It's a pleasure to watch.

"The Martian" a Masterpiece. You'll love it.

    "Atonement"
    Fervor..

If you like my/and my wifes Movie taste give me a hint. I'd update this reply then. Or even make another reply.
