Wondering if Gm's could post EVERY word that would be considered Offensive to people, animals and plants. That way no one ever gets banned Again.
Yes, but in the case a sentence like 'I want to finger your Mum' is offensive (or at least most would find it offensive). Should we then outright ban the use of the word finger? What you find offensive is subjective. For the GMs to compile a list of all offensive words, phrases, etc. will take too much time and effort. It would be impossible to come up with something that would be black and white. Language has a lot of grey areas, and by dealing with language-based offences individually we can only hope that the GMs use some discretion and act accordingly. But yes, I do see where you are coming from and I find majority of the bans ridiculous. It is what it is.
I don't think that's necessary since that rule is based upon common logic and most cases are situational, given the age requirement for the server is 13, you should be knowledgeable enough to know what's offensive/vulgar and what isn't.
Speaking from personal experience as a GM, it's practically impossible to compile a good list of offensive words, phrases, etc., since everyone has their own view on what's offensive and what isn't. Your own nationality, ethnicity, race, gender and sexual orientation also plays a decisive role in the process of dealing with offensive language. Even within the staff team there are most likely discrepancies as to their view on the subject of harrassment, offensive/racial/homophobic slurs and other forms of insulting someone, let it be in a humoring/friendly or genuinely offensive way, so that would mean there would be lists for every single staff member based on their views, which is simply ridiculous. And can't you judge yourself if what you're saying can be considered offensive? If you're worried that you could get banned for something you say, either don't say it or stick to buddy and/or guild chat with it, where your friends will definitely know it's not meant offensively in any way towards them.
Lol @marty, it was simply because I got banned for saying something I didn't really see as offensive. That's all, but hey Things happen and we learn from it.
You didn't get banned for using a word we never ban for though... You got banned for using the N word, which is the most common word we ban for........ As Marty stated, compiling a list is practically impossible. Just use your judgement. Never use ANY racial or homophobic slurs.
