Nowhere is it stated that it's an offense to make a joke in your "believable claim" section, only that it's an offence to convince staff you're an offender. I've read your ToS through several times before I apparently, unknowingly, broke your rules. I would just like to suggest you make this more clear so other people with a sense of humor as bad as mine will at least know they're breaking the rules when they make similar jokes.
I would not have said what I did if I knew it was against ToS, so I'll argue I'm an example of someone it's not as clear to as you claim it is to you, cause I don't see anything in that rule you just listed that prohibits me from cracking a joke about hacking as long as the context that it's a joke is there.
While I've been banned I've been reading ban appeals of other people being banned for jokes, and there it's being made clear from staff that ANY kind of joke about the matter is punishable. I just wish this had been stated in ToS so I would not be in the situation that I'm in right now
Dude get over it! You misinterpreted what Tim said to be a joke, and broke the "believable claim" rule. Thankfully the staff believed your story and so gave you a 1-week ban instead of the permanent ban that was initially applied. Most people in this situation would apologise, and thank the staff for listening to them. Go do something productive with the time off. If it's bugging you this much, then that's a good sign you needed a break anyway. This thread is just a ban appeal in disguise (not a very good disguise). Also, learn to use the edit button instead of double/ triple posting...
What? I think you need to chill, Tentomon. I've made it clear I know the decision made by staff is final, why you trying to beef with me? You're coming off awfully rude, and I don't even know you
Let’s all get along! You said something along the lines of “ok I’ll stop hacking”. Sure, that may have been a joke, however, you literally implied that you were hacking. It wasn’t hidden or obscure, it couldn’t be any clearer that you were referring to yourself and hacking. Even if it was in the context of a joke, the way you worded it directly went against our current believable claim rule. In my opinion, there’s no argument against this. I’d also like to say that a lot of us discussed this in great detail, some of us wanted a shorter ban, some longer. In the end, staff as a whole voted and agreed this was more than appropriate.
Oh yeah this is not about whether or not I'm in the right, I'm just trying to state that at least I didn't realise this, and that other people might be in the same boat. The suggestion of changing the ToS is just my 2 cents on how to avoid you spending your time on a similar case in the future
Becca just quoted the ToS tho , its usually people who don't read it that end up getting banned. You will also notice that the ToS also pop up the first time you log in to your character. At least you'll know for next time.
I've read the entire ToS more than once, what Becca quoted was not unknown to me. I'm just explaining that I didn't understand it like that, and that there might be reason to look into elaborating on the rule for that reason. Take my suggestion for whatever it's worth to you!
If you're suggesting the wording of the ToS should be altered, it would be good to provide an example of how you believe it should be worded to make it "more clear".
As I've already said, "ANY kind of joke about the matter is punishable". I've seen it worded well in this ban appeal too https://royals.ms/forum/threads/was-i-banned-why.155798/
Thread was locked because we are worried this discussion will devolve into personal attacks aimed at individuals. We will be discussing rewording the T&C privately within staff, thank you for your feedback!
