Why is there a buyback fee? Like if you sell something accidentally you are punished for 5m? What is the reason too implement a fee for the buyback option? I think the fee should be deleted. Don't think it's going to be significant for mesos sink.

Without any fee it could be used as a "mobile storage", maybe that's why. (Or another creative way for people to abuse it that i can't think of)

You know what sucks about this fee? Selling Etc items of something you need for a quest, then forgetting you need them for a quest/just selling things on autopilot, and then either having to buy them back or collect them all over again.

Why does a forum moderator response like this? It's a valid question OP is asking?

@Sen is just being comical here. He eats emo kids. And Forum Mods don't usually have say on in-game policies. So, his answer was that of a player in this situation.

Just to clarify, Forum Mods do have a say on in-game policies. I just personally don't contribute to such discussions given my lack of expertise in this game. I mostly help by organizing relevant feedback threads by the community for the rest of Staff when such discussions do arise. That said, the question is valid--I'm just making a light-hearted meme at the fact we as a server have a habit of justifying any cost and fee in this game with "meso sink haha." And if anything, the meme was in support of the original feedback.

But sorry, I forgot that I'm literally never allowed to have fun again now that I'm Staff.

With Kai's departure I'm now the oldest non-admin/developer (Manny being a special case). We (I mostly) definitely had a say, even to the ire of some past GM's. Current mods 100% have input.

Calling me a child is a bit of a reach, no? If you genuinely have a problem with me (and Staff generally) posting memes you're free to make a new feedback thread. But otherwise I'm going to ask that we not derail this thread's original discussion.

Is the item you accidentally sold worth 5m to you? I've been caught up in accidentally selling items I didn't want to before, and 5m is really a small amount compared to what the item could have been worth. If these items are important, I'd honestly just ask the people selling items to pay attention, or do what I do and put some weird items at the bottom of their collectibles so you can easily see where the cutoff is.

Anyway, personally I agree that the fee is a little too high, from the perspective of a new player. Would be good if some adjustments can be made where the first "mistake" will cost a super low fee, perhaps 50k mesos or an amount that newbies can afford, and an alert prompting the player that subsequent buybacks will cost 5m. I think that'll be more newbie-friendly. As for the 5m fee... no comments.

The ~buyback function is a custom feature coded by the developer to recover valuable equipment in case accidents do occur

I believe the 5m meso was implemented to encourage players to be more careful with their items

If you feel the 5m meso is too expensive, such as for a newbie, then I would rather suggest scaling the meso cost according to the character level

    Example
    Level 10 - 100k
    Level 20 - 200k

I don't believe it would be a good movement to make it totally free as it would encourage players to store a bunch of items in it while training, is that really fair to other players who did not use this feature?

And do take note of the following
"Items sold to an NPC are available to buy back for 3 hours up to a limit of 250 items, and will not disappear due to a Server Check."

Let's supposed the fees was removed and some players used it as a temporary storage and stored the items in NPC-ed form for more than 3 hours, or more than 250 items

What do we do if they say
"Please revert the changes, as I didn't realize 3 hours has passed"
    "I didn't realize I stored more than 250 items"

Do we just keep extending the hours duration or items limit?

Just to be clear, I am not against the removal of fees, but I'm against the ~buyback feature being used in an unintended manner that can be considered as exploit

I think the buyback fee is just fine. During the first few months of playing on Royals, I didn't even know I could buyback items because you couldn't do it in the original game. When I did learn about it, the buyback fee seemed expensive at first but then it helped me to just pay more attention to the items I'm npc'ing and sort my inventories accordingly.

I'm in favor of the buyback fee being made equal to the item's NPC value. This makes it so the only items worth storing in there are legitimately useful items (godly equips, green danas, etc) which IS convenient, granted, but it will rarely extend your effective storage space beyond like 2-3 slots most of the time.

There are many good, creative ways to remove mesos from the game. Buyback fee is not one of them.
