No, it's actually quite possible for people to update without wiping. Extalia has done it MANY many times, and I have done it as well. It's quite easy, all you do is not use a different source, but rather than that, you just update the current one you have. So, thus you have all the exploit fixes, and what not you have done in the source.

If there is a possible way to change this server into Ver 83 without wiping, I would rather this since i rather v83 than v62.
People did a very hard work on getting what they have in this server and achieve the high levels. I myself worked very hard to get to what i have today in this server and it didn't took a week or two, it took me about 2 months, which is long time.
I dont get it why would i work hard to get what i want for my goal in this server and then there will be a wipe so people can be equally start fresh.
Some people start from the very first beginning and some join after few days/weeks/months. So if there is a possible way to move to v83 without wiping, why won't you do it instead of wiping and restarting?
Infact this is an advantage to new players with no wiping, there are many scrolls, many scrolled items which can be sold, high levels that can help the lower ones, more information about the prices of everything.
I think the best thing to do is move to v83 without any technical problems and without any wiping. but if there is going to be a wipe I believe that the server online players will decrease in 50% if not more since people worked very hard work to accomplish what they have now and you can see already that people start to quit this server since they heard of the wipe. Please tell us good news soon because you can see that each day it delays, people motivation to play decreasing.

Btw, i accidentally clicked no. I vote yes for v83 only if there will be a wipe, which i rather NOT TO BE.

Currently there are many private server v83, with different rates .. why make another one? V83 If you want to play there as 14 servers to choose .. If people are here is for the v62 .. What it would support is the lowering of the rates .. 4x v62 .. be wonderful .. and many people would be agree .. For months I have here and lose everything I've got not fair ..

 

For me a full time college student I would prefer we stay at v62 and just add content to the great server we already have, Also I am against a wipe because I worked so hard over the summer to get my bowmaster to 15x and just having that being taken away from me would just make me quit this server.

 

I agree with this, but would like to add that core game features should not be disabled, such as Cygnus, Aran, etc.

Cash Shop items such as SoK, Wheel of fortune, vicious hammer, etc. can and should be enabled/disabled at Matt's discretion. Personally I think all three of the above were a money grubbing move by Nexon and should not exist because they make the game stupid.

 

I wish I had voted after I read these posts. I'm unsure now... The only way, and I mean only way I would still play if we upgraded to v83 is if SOK is disabled, no wipe, if the exp rate was 5-6x, and that all the major bugs were fixed. I honestly don't want to start in a server that's extremely buggy, I don't think I can go through that again. Sorry if I sound bitchy to anyone, I'm not trying to be.

If we do switch to v83 though, you guys realize that we would be competing with other v83 servers right? And don't give me that crap about "oh I know a couple of people that would play this server.." blah blah blah. Some of these v83 servers have stayed at the top for months, they're not going to just drop down all of the sudden. I don't really have anything else more to say since pretty much everything that needed to be said was. Like I said on the other forum, in the end it's up to you Matt, I'd really be sad to see this server change so drastically. Whatever option you chose, I'll respect.

 

Maybe if there was like a beneficial start for the people that played already so it motivated them to stay, if there server actually wipes.

Agree with some of those things.

Except lowering the exp received from leeching/ bishop exp and lowering the skele spawn would be just as unfair as clearing the server, unless you delete the current bishops that had the easier ride which obviously wouldn't work well with the server.

Also lowering skele spawn is bad for all players. Marksmen and shadowers are mob classes so they train there often as well.

 

I feel exactly the same. It is not fair to people who has worked hard just to lose it all, this would be instant quit for me.

 

I'm guessing that excludes me, since I've been playing regularly for 3 months now but am only lvl 113, due to a different outlook on playing, not based on fast levelling.

EDIT: OK, this is actually a blatant beg to include me in those who get the item, as I've been playing Maple Royals regularly for longer than many of the high level characters and have been supporting the server as a voter since the very early days.

 

This may seem silly / obvious, but cant you just disable the quests that cause the no mob/no drop glitches? Unless i'm missing something, these quests aren't a particularly important / nostalgic piece of content.

I also think the server is perfect running the way it is, a very good v62 server. Heck, part of the nostalgia for me was making a bishop and grinding at skeles for hours and hours on end.

In terms of the wipe, i think it would welcome a larger player base, personally. I know a lot of people who play for the competitive factor, and coming to a old server, a portion of that exciting competition is sort of lost. But I also understand the feeling of losing everything after a wipe after working hard to be on top (after being top in the rankings on some older, low rate servers such as DestinyMS etc). Perhaps some compensation (oldgen starterpack?) that would give the older players something (although nothing crippling to the rest of the community) for their hard work.

 

Well it sounds like the server will be wiped either way..
Asking myself why keep playing if I'm gonna lose all the hard work...

I don't get why do it.
People worked hard here, so some people are very rich and high levels and can buy anything and some people aren't.
How is that a reason to wipe the server ?

You made this server this way at the first place and that's why people started playing it, people play here BECAUSE of the high rates so why change it ???

I think it's unfair to wipe it because everyone wasted a lot of time and energy here.





Btw, I really don't care what version it will be as soon as I don't lose my character.



Edit : Dear Matt, I want you to think about this - You're wiping away everything and changing the server to me it feels like it's gonna be a new server, nothing like this one is, my question is why do you think people will prefer playing this NEW server instead of another one ?
I guess it will also take a while to get working, I think that at the begining a lot of people will quit because they will just be mad at losing everything and those who left will be just bored at waiting and quit.

 

I'd love to get something between v62 and v83 if possible. I heard there were no sources in that range though. But if you could do it I'd LOVE that. Otherwise I'm undecided.

 

v75 was quite out for a while.

 

I guess I'll say my piece. I found this server about a month ago (give or take a few days) I have enjoyed my stay here thus far and I don't plan on going anywhere regardless of what action this server takes. Unless of course you guys randomly decided to upgrade to a post BB server in which case I'd drop this game like a bad habit. But that is very unlikely. I personally prefer v83 over v62. I remember both patches (time periods) fondly and they both carry a significant amount of nostalgia for me. Anything pre-potential does really. But when it comes down to it v62 is a barren wasteland for 4th job players. Like I said earlier I am not going anywhere regardless of whats decided but I am in full support of an upgrade to v83. This was the perfect time in maple story for me. Nothing truly game breaking had been introduced and tons of content came over to us along with fixes to a lot of classes. I loved CWKPQ, ToT, Mu lung dojo and the list goes on. Now I know that there is no way to please everyone but the way that I see it if we stay at v62 those who want that new content will be deprived of things they want. While on the flip side if we moved up to v83 all the stuff that people want this current version for would still be here for their enjoyment and people like myself could enjoy the new content. I feel an upgrade would do a lot more good than harm. There isn't much difference between v62 and v83 aside from content. No nostalgia is removed, it's not a game changing patch like big bang, Abyss, tempest etc. The classes that do come with v83 are the farthest thing from broken. All and all nothing but gains. Some people might get turned off and leave but change does require sacrifice.

However what you do decide I support your decision because you and your hard working team have let me re-live an experience I thought was forever forgotten to time. So for that I thank you. Also one more thing before I finish even though I prefer v83 to v62 I came here because this server had perfect rates and nothing but sparkling praise in the reviews. You're hard work really makes this server stand out at least to me anyway.

P.S. if there is a way to import Ulu city and Ninja castle if you move up to v83 then that would be perfect. Might be a little out of the question but I can dream.

 

I honestly don't care the 10x exp on V62 is now maybe go 16x? And if your going to release it . Make sure your devs already have the main issues fixed and have it playable before realeasing .

 

i'm not opposed to going to v83, played a few other v83 servers and liked them. i just hope whatever happens it happens soon, as right now there is no point in playing/voting until after the wipe occurs.
