Let's discuss: do you think this deserves an unban?

Man instead of arguing back and forth like this, you guys should just start a poll like what Zofran did and then end this thread after polling is done. Josh's thread (click it! https://royals.ms/forum/threads/staff-team-changes.180215/) deserve better attention than this because there is zero to little constructive posts here. What's even the final goal here?

It's not useful if the Admin is dismissing the larger issues here because her facebook is public. Vulgarity is one thing, but you're talking about utilizing personal information to attack/sexually harass someone. I feel the larger issue here, and what most of the community is commenting on is the fact he utilized her facebook to sexualize her in game. Why do we have to nitpick the details of how invasive the harassment was, when 9/10 people would draw the line at the fact he used her facebook to talk about her tits and ass.

I find it odd how your blissfully unaware of your bias here. You're talking about a user who is Tim's friend. Yet your concern is that it's Sharon's fault she didn't show him more images of him sexually objectifying her, even though he clearly broke the rules doxxing her? You're missing the bigger picture here. The information provided, objectively, by the community and by a GM who literally quit over it, feel it's a bannable offense, even the context provided by the user is weak.

 

I never truly knew how bad staff was on this server, I know how easy it is for players to demonize staff and under appreciate the work they put in, and being in a position of power often makes small men feel powerful. The internet gives anonymity where there should be none to people like this.

I truly thought, a year or so ago, that staff wasn't corrupt or anything of the sort, but I was mistaken when they handled a case of account sharing when a friend of mine committed suicide. That being said, this is again an example that a lot of staff members are insanely out of touch with the community, and clearly favorite their friends over who is being blatantly, without a doubt harrassed. I can't expect a group of men to ever understand what it's like to be a woman, on the internet or otherwise, but to be this blind and unfair is truly sad.

I stopped playing this server after the issue with my friend, and to learn that other players have gotten away with account sharing and my friend was banned for playing our late buddies account with a low level character to honor our him as he had passed, quite honestly pains me and infuriates me at the same time.

@Sharu I hope you don't return to this server. I hope a lot of people end up leaving or an entire staff shift is made because to allow Tim to say that and stay, to allow him to use his seniority of 6 years as a wedge to guilt and motivate others to stay on his side, and to silence actual women on staff who can more likely then not relate because being a woman is often difficult, internet or not, is all a clear display of abuse of power.

To summarize, to tldr, to finish up: Tim, you're disgusting, Raony, you're disgusting, staff who witnessed all of this and did nothing, you failed as well.

You ask us to be lenient on TimK for doing a lot of work, and being human and committing mistakes. Yet don't show the same line of leniency for the one who decided the show the server how things are occurring. Regardless of what mechanisms we deem correct to report these issues (be it messages in-game, talking to TimK alone, posting on forums), this should not diminish the real issue at play here just because of the way you found out about them.

The main reason we show any discontent towards TimK's actions is PRECISELY that we consider him not to be a god. The way he went on to revert a ban, propose a new rule to cover up for the decision he pushed on his own and coerce the imposition of this new rule by emotionally manipulating others ("if this is not approved I'm going to leave" "we must vote this now") is playing god. Especially when you take advantage of the privilege of being probably the second in command and don't disclose the clear conflict of interest you may have in the case.

As to how you dealt with a previous instance of sexual harassment, every case is different. We shouldn't assume that the OP didn't talk to their ex-friend to solve things. But the one instance of harassment remains whether you talk to the person or not.

 

I'm not friends with either party. But I'm seeing a lot of concerning perspectives in this thread that I want to address.

1. It doesn't matter if Sharon and Raony are/were friends. You still have boundaries as friends, and your friends are capable of crossing those boundaries and making you uncomfortable. These boundaries can change. If your friend is making you uncomfortable with something that you might have been okay with in the past, and they don't stop when you ask them to stop, that is harassment.

2. I don't know if this is true and frankly I don't think it's relevant - people pointing fingers at the way Sharon speaks to some people in a similar manner and that she has shared her social media before (which she mentions that the picture that was shared without her consent was from 2014 and was since deleted from Facebook or Instagram). Consent given to a group of people does not mean the same consent is given to all. Consent given at one point in time does not mean consent is given for the rest of time.

3. People asking why she didn't report earlier and that the timing of her report is suspicious. I think people are underestimating the impacts of reporting someone deeply involved in your social circles. Sometimes you give it some time hoping that you can resolve it by other means. Sometimes it's just the straw that broke the camel's back after tolerating the behaviour for some time. Regardless of the reason *why* you think she is making the report now should not detract from the main issue of this thread - that Raony should not have been unbanned without having gone through the same ban appeal process staff has been forcing everyone else to.

4. People questioning Sharon's character, saying that based on her character she doesn't deserve to seek justice for what was done to her - I didn't realize you had to be well-liked/respected in the community to be a victim of a crime?

For all the women that are actually supporting Raony here, I implore you to look past your personal biases and notice the strong gaslighting, victim blaming, and misogynistic themes in this thread.

Thank you June for your transparency, integrity, and fighting to make the game and the community better. You'll be dearly missed on staff.

 

Fortunately most of the people agree what she is doing is right so that puts a little more faith in the community for me .

Also, would like to add i reported to Tim about this at 11/11 and it’s documented in our discord chats. So all of you who think it bothers me just now, that’s not the case.

 

I have a lot of israelis in common with her added on my Facebook, so something of the fb algorithm suggested me Sharon, I didn’t search for her or anything. I even said that to her when we were friends. Am I allowed to post this evidence here if I erase her face and lastname? Idek why she is claiming that I am a creepy that spent time looking for her while she knows that the Facebook suggested me her.

 

Facebook suggestions don’t give you the legitimacy to look into my info and especially not sharing it.
