Wow such an in-depth guide thank you. Never knew there were other mage classes than bishops. Really thinking about making an I/L so I can be as strong as @PalmTree one day! Keep my hope up please and thank you
Been using this guide to get my IL to 120 (so far) and it has been great. May want to add a disclaimer to the Blizzard quest to say that the odds of you getting struck by lightning and hit by a car at the same time are higher than the chance of the Cold Heart dropping from Lycanthropes.
Might be worth adding the benefit of obtaining an Elemental Wand 3 for 3rd job grinding. It's kinda rare though since it's only from Sleepywood Gachapon but at least you can try for Maple Leafs and other lukless INT gear if you do it yourself.
Hi PalmTree, I have been reading and following your guide and I would very much like to know how to HP wash my I/L mage. Sincerely, Beef
For mages you get a stupid amount of mp from mp washing because of the amount of base int that you have. On level up, with fresh ap: Put a fresh ap into mp. You will gain 30+floor(base int/10) mp. Reset that mp to int. You will lose 30 mp. Eventually when you want to flush your money down the toilet and wash the mp into hp, buy 1st job skill resets and reset the improved mp skill to zero (stick the sp in magic bolt or something). Then reset as much mp to hp as you want (note: as with all classes, you will need at least one "real" ap in hp or mp in order to reset mp to hp). Since you reset the improved mp skill, you will only lose 20 mp not 30 mp per reset. When you're done, add all your sp points back into the improved mp skill. You can start doing this very late. I think I started doing this for a while around 14x, and I have enough sp to hit 22k hp / 30k mp. I stopped washing a while ago, so I'm just floating fresh ap now (most mp comes from mp washing, the losses from not having a bit of ap in int is minor at higher lvls like 18x).
Hi everyone!! I'm sorry for the outdated guide and thank you to everyone who has added more input! I have updated this as best as I could but I'm still slow on things so please don't mind that.. Anyway, I do want to say: a huge thank you to @Inusama for actively recommending new information for the guide since I first created it! I will try to update this guide as often as I can, but until then, I hope you're enjoying I/L as much as I still do
Hi, Im just curious what do arch mages do with their time in the higher levels? What do you do for fun? How do you level?
Hi there~ That is an excellent question! Since bossing is not ideal on an Arch Mage, it is very common for Arch Mages to spend most of their time leeching at common areas like Ulu 2, Petris, or Dukus. Another great place to train at is Oblivion 1-4 (specifically Oblivion 4 being the best). And the best part, no one is ever really there~ The only downside is doing the whole prequest (killing 999 of each mob and fighting mini bosses) and finding a way to get a bishop through the quest for HS. It is a great place to train with other I/L [Fire Poisons suck at Oblivion sorry :x] or other classes (if they did the prequest and want to train). I spent a lot of time training at Oblivion 4, training with shads, heroes, and more, because the EXP is amazing compared to Petris/Dukus. I hope this helps! For fun, I like to APQ on my Ice Lightning.. hehe
Surprised Froscola/scarlion isn't recommended in the 75=90 brackets, high spawn rate and icestrike hits multiple platforms (180%+). Wolf spiders give comparable exp but the map sucks.
Amazing guide! I've followed this for my main and it's truly been going well for me haha Just a little thing regarding the fourth job skill build though, at level 146 you can't apply SP directly to Ifrit as Ice Demon level 5 is a requirement. I believe it'd be something like this: Level 146: +2 CL (MAX), +1 ID (1) Level 147: +3 ID (4) Level 148: +1 ID (5), +2 Ifrit (2) Nonetheless, it's still a really good guide and I recommend it to any future I/L mage in search of guidance
Hi there, can I ask what kind of substitute for the Zakum/Targa helmets there would be? Is there only Green Bandana? I'm mostly just playing solo for fun and the jump puzzle for the Zakum prequest was just not enjoyable for me so just looking what I can get as an alternative.
Targa prequest doesn't take a jump quest, so not sure why you're excluding it too. Generally that's the alternative. You can also get Pierre hats very rarely during Halloween event, but they're rare enough that I wouldn't count on it.
