Collecting 400 sets of cards is a big challenge and thus should come with a big reward. At first I was a little hesitant, but I decided it was worth it because you get the same attack as the level 200 medal with the bonus of 500 HP/MP (before update). Obviously if you're already near level 200 and are sufficiently washed, there isn't much incentive, but low level characters benefit greatly. When the update came out, I had already gotten the medal on 2 of my characters so it was a very nice surprise. The buff to the medals also gives mages a huge incentive to start collecting because extra HP is a huge QoL upgrade for them and 8 matk matches the level 200 medal, as it did with the 3 atk for attacker classes. As they are now, I believe the medal gives a pretty good reward for the time you put in (including bragging rights that you have no life). I wouldn't mind changes to make them better than the level 200 medals, but I don't think it's necessary. If it were buffed stronger than the 200s, I can see every player trying to go for the medal and it would lose its uniqueness. From my experience collecting, I just want to say that mini-boss cards can be really annoying to get, especially because people have timers on them to collect NX and killing manon in every channel is a taboo. I would like to see all bosses in Mu Lung Dojo drop cards too, because it would make the task of collecting 400 sets less daunting and encourage people to explore the maple world without having everyone go for it (like a buff would). I would also like to see some acc/avoid/speed/jump on the medals if possible, because my BM can't stand still.
I agree on almost everything you mentioned! However, dojo drops rate needs to be extremely low otherwise it would be way too easy to collect mini-boss card if implemented. Also, I think the buff of acc/avoid/speed/jump shouldn't be added to the collector medal, which is already very incentive. Alternatively, the buff of acc/avoid/speed/jump may be added to other medals such as quest specialist.
Yea I was thinking the drop rate for Mu Lung bosses could be about 1/8 of the normal boss droprate (but should still be higher than regular monster cards because a lot of people do Mu Lung in parties so there may be fights over who gets cards if its too rare). Having the acc/avoid/speed/jump buff was less serious and more of me being selfish haha.
What's with the terrible drop rates on the really unfarmable monsters? Urban Fungus Monster Card droprate lower than 0.01% killed thousands and yet to see a card. :\
Urban fungus is annoying, but not as annoying as Jr. Boogie/Jr. Lucida/Chief Gray/MT-09. It's doable if you keep on grinding but it's all up to luck. I recommend that while you collect from monsters with mid-low spawns, you should keep a character with a summon (ex. bahamut or phoenix) at one part of the map (especially a spot that is annoying to get to) while you attack on another character at another part of the map.
I don't. Instead, I support the idea of reducing are a bosses spawn times. That just means more things to do in the game and therefore more content.
I think reducing area boss spawn timers would be another decent solve to making more people want to collect. But I can imaging even more people will start farming them for NX with timers, so it'll probably still be just as difficult to hunt them for cards. Randomizing timers could solve that, but then NX farmers are at loss.
