Background: As a result of the incomplete auto-ban system, the progression of hackers is increasingly recognised as an urgent concern, accompanied by severe game experience consequences (eg. inflated market, mobs vacc at popular leeching area to disrupt leeching, etc.) Players have the options to report the hacker in the "report abuse" section. However, no immediate action may be taken against the hacker. Players do not have immediate access to GM without using smega, which may also alert the hacker. What made the situation worse in that the hackers do not care about the report, as they have ways to ban evade anyway. Players need an easy and effective way to contact the GM. The current method of contacting the GM, and its cons (as far as I know) are listed in the following: Shoutout box - slower response, may also alert the hacker Smega for GMs - alert the hacker as well Direct PM to GMs - player do not know which GM is online Suggestion: 1. Have the "alert GM" working. But I do not know the technical details behind this 2. Develop in-game commands similar to pm, such as "/whisperGM" that sends the message to the online GMs or Staff guild (if applicable) The false alarm will receive a warning or other punishments in the discretion of staff Any other suggestion?
This premise requires at least 1 staff member to be online in game essentially 24/7, which I don't think is feasible even if you double the current staff roster. I'm in support of the theory though. The most in reality this current staff roster would be able to do is probably: - set up a general GM account on forums and/or discord where all messages to staff can be directed, rather than hammering specific staff members' inboxes - delegate particular staff members to go through general messages and address any concerns they can - any urgent messages like hackers causing significant game disruption can be marked "urgent" by the sender and by doing so creates a forum/discord/game alert for staff members currently available (but who may not be online in game)
~gm op There is definitely a problem when one of the most effective ways to contact a GM costs mesos (Smegas) Please bring it back
Tbh ~gm worked pretty well imo since even if no GMs were online at the time of messaging, as the first thing any (decent-)GM would do when logging in would be to check the backlog for anything that could still be addressed. If there were too many, you could always ask for backup in srsbzn (with mixed success). I'm honestly so surprised that such a basic feature that was core to the server pre-new source is still missing and without any equivalent system in place. edit: just realised I repeated what was in Eli's screenshot woops
I miss ~Gm last time when ur teammate bm/sair banned for fast attack or mm banned for weird reason Just need ~Gm and wait angels come save us rn ...just do it without se
