?

Alter the Reuel HP Quest?

  1. A special reward for handing in the quest a certain number of times

    54.9%
  2. A special reward for doing every unique quest at least once

    3.3%
  3. Have both rewards

    30.8%
  4. Leave as is

    11.0%

I have a suggestion to make the Level 150 HP Quest with Reuel a little better. Would welcome your feedback on this idea.

If you follow the storyline of Reuel, you are essentially helping him get closer and closer to discovering the philosopher's stone and eternal life. Wouldn't it make sense that the more you help him, the closer he gets to that goal?

Based on that logic, I think there should be a special reward for doing the quest a certain number of times. Every 10 hand-ins? Every 15? 20? Getting closer to discovering the philosopher's stone, wouldn't it make sense that Reuel would be able to create a more "potent" life potion? I think that could work. I know a repeatable quest can be tallied. Many of the event quests are tallied. So would it be that difficult to implement?

An alternate idea would be that doing every different hp potion quest he offers, collecting every single item he asks for across all the different quests he offers, maybe he would be able to create a special potion using a little bit of every ingredient you bring him.

    Maybe both could be implemented?

Leave a vote if you like. Would like to see the community's opinion on these suggestions.

When doing the Elixir of Life questline I found it to be a bit repetitive. Diversifying the mobs can benefit the players but also can open up this questline to your suggestion and for implementation of a reward for completing all of the quest variations. A reasonable reward could be an additional 10-30 HP and could be repeated with or without a cooldown timer.

This idea might interfere with the previous balancing done to this questline so I would hope that this would be considered only if the quest variation will be expanded.

Or also add them to all Royals quests, I mean that all quests give that bottle a reward, but they will be unlocked at lvl 150+ only that in this case repeatable, it's just an idea!

I have repeated this many times. They need to increase the HP gain or it's not worth the time. It consumes way too much time compared to the benefits we reap

Looks like about 92% of the people who voted in this poll (Thank You!) agree that there needs to be another tweak to it. I know it's ultimately up to the GMs and the Admins. But the feedback here looks promising. I personally voted for both, since it was my idea and I like my own ideas ^_^' But I can see that both of them might be overdoing it.

I like this idea too. Diversify the quest line.

Also, the mobs we need to kill for these quests should be level appropriate for 150+. Why are we hunting drops from Green Mushrooms!?~f5

Thanks for voting everyone! 94% of us think this quest should be altered with a special reward. It looks like from the last patch, two different quests were added to Reuel's set.

    Progress!

My opinion is that it's a pain to be not able to play game content without washing. Players that are to poor or don't know about washing after reaching lvl 130, are count out for some game content. Even solve this with the current hp gain from each quest with an avarage of ~15hp will take about 2 months to gain 1k hp, with spending atleast 30minutes each day. Washing is a bug from origin... why does a bug decide if you are able to play game content or not?

Grinding for hp is oke, don't get me wrong, but the 2 months grind with 30 minutes a day for only 1k hp is way to heavy. Especilly for players that are working in daily life with only 2 hours free time left.

Even the early gameplay of Maple will be back and active.

I think the Elixir of Life quest should changed from lv150 -> lv120 (or lv135/130). It's just way too high...

Wasn't the HP quest made for people that are too late to hp wash and is not suppose to replace or be better than APR washing? So the difficulty and high level requirement.

This is exactly what the GMs told me a few months ago when I asked why it was set at Level 150. These quests were made to give players a chance to gain a little more hp to survive more than 1 hit from high level bosses after they've exhausted all other options (Event Rings, Dojo Belt, Ergoth or Collector Medal, The Water of Life Chain Quest and recently the Pet HP Scrolls). It wasn't meant as a washing alternative; more like a washing supplement. It was meant to give players who want to spend the time to gain a hundred or a few hundred hp just to cross the threshold to survive more than 1 hit, instead of making their characters all over again.

    Why not making an alternative?

what if the potion is able to scale towards different classes like the hp fountain quest (1k hp for warriors and 500hp for every other class except mage). The way the quest is set up to give 10hp or 20hp makes it almost equivalent to a single wash (for arches, sairs, thief) but for warriors and brawlers theyre less inclined to do the quest, I do understand that it is meant to be a supplement but it would be nice to welcome all players to do it. (maybe +mp potions for mages as well?)

Let's be honest here. People start considering whether it's too late to HP wash or not in 3rd job or early 4th job. By the time one is lv150, they're already way past the point of no return. If anything, the HP quest should have been Water from the Spring of Life v2 if the purpose was only to be a "hp supplement".

I feel like you missed the part about "gain a few hundred hp to cross the threshold" where as you seem to be looking at it as an "hp alternative" Nothing wrong with it just wanted to point out the different of it being level 150 vs a lower level like spring of life

This was not the only aim of the new HP Quests. It can be seen as one part; but in general the quests were intended to be a little more flexible and less restrictive than the other HP gain Questline we introduced. You can read a longer statement in GM Blog October 2020 (if memory serves)!

I'm aware of the statement written in the October blog as I've already read it when it came out (and I even commented on it too).

Since you're here, let me bring this to your attention... I made this comment here:
[-] Why should it be lowered?

Players who are interested in utilizing this quest should be able to access it at a point where they're strong enough to complete this (i.e. reaching 4th job) in order to be able to invest in their character in a smooth manner. The current lv150 requirement is too far away and removes part of the progress in investing in their characters.

In your GM Blog statement, you said "It should be clear then, that the idea is to reward long-term investment, and not just those who are able to play many hours on a daily basis." My suggestion to lower the Lv150 requirement to Lv120 (or lv130/135) is to better promote and re-enforce this idea. However, in the same blog statement, you mentioned: "The level requirement was deemed appropriate, as no content for levels 150 or below requires more HP than can be acquired by the means already available [...]" to explain why Lv150 was appropriate. This is a bit in conflict from your earlier statement of saying to reward long-term investment as anyone who is completing the Elixir of Life questline are doing so not in preparation of Bosses Lv150 or below but rather past that (not including Shao/Neo Tokyo)! The reason people kept egging the Staff in the first place for more HP alternatives was not particularly due to Bosses below lv150 (not including Shao/Neo Tokyo).

[-] Who does this negatively affect if the Elixir of Life lvl requirement is lowered?

No one. If you take a look at @Nivi 's post, Comprehensive Search for the Elixir of Life / Reuel HP Quest Guide, lv150+, he had calculated the efficiency of the HP quest (even updating it with the recent quests) and was able to make the conclusion that "[...] using the traditional hp washing method is much more efficient" and "[t]his quest is not an efficient replacement for hp washing and should not be considered as such." So we can conclude that given the HP quest's efficiency, it isn't intrusive enough to change the strategy of veteran players or players who are potentially hardcore enough to perform the meta HP washing route for their characters. Veteran players who already washed their characters before the HP quest was implemented, after it was implemented, and possibly having my suggestion added won't see any change that affects them.

At best you'll have some Veteran players on the forums bemoan it but in reality, it doesn't affect them at all.

[-] Who does this positively affect if the Elixir of Life lvl requirement is lowered?

This widely benefits most non-heavily washed players (or characters) in being able to make the long-term investment of gathering HP in preparation for bosses past Lv150. Knowledgeable players can comfortably recommend the Elixir of Life questline to newer players who are reaching 4th job and didn't wash much/haven't washed at all. The chances of a player having to "start over" because they don't think leveling to lv150 for the HP quest is viable if they want to participate in the later bosses.

I'm keen in hearing your response.

Hi, I responded to a similar question here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/gm-blog-october-2020.174834/page-2#post-1021763
I understand your focus is on the idea of "preparation for bosses", but this was not really what we outlined when designing and announcing the quests, and may instead be an idea or interpretation which has sprung from other sources. However, if you would like to make a feedback thread about this particular issue I invite you to create a new one dedicated to that!
