    Hi guys,

My game has been stuttering and lagging ever since I logged in this afternoon. I don't know what's causing this but I don't think it's an internet issue but rather some sort of video feedback issue? It's kind of hard to describe what I've been experiencing so I'll just upload a video.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. :):):)

Did you equip any new cash items before this started happening?
I'd go ahead and unequip everything to verify whether or not a bugged item is causing the lag :-/

@Sof thanks for replying!! I'll try it out and let you know but I did not equip any cash shop items before the lag started occurring. So far I've tried:

    1. Uninstalling/Reinstalling
    2. Running as an admin
    3. Changing compatibility to windows 7 and xp
    4. Playing in fullscreen
    5. Switching channels
    6. Downloading IOBit Game Booster as suggested by @Shiyui

    None appear to work :(

My hardware seems to be fine. These are the specs:

    Processor: i5-7300 HQ @2.50 GHz
    RAM: 8.00 GB
    Storage: 256 GB SSD
    GPU: GTX 1050 Ti

Edit: I'm noticing that there is apparent lag in the login screen as well and all my characters are having this lag issue.

    A stab in the dark:
Just before this started, did you install or (auto)update anything? I've had updates that turn on stuff at startup, so that too much junk was running in the background. Which slowed things down unnecessarily. And that resulted mainly in laggy games and videos.
Perhaps some spring cleaning could help? (Or at least try a system restore to a point before this started, to check?)

Thanks for replying @Onna! I didn't install and no auto updates have been made on my laptop. I went to sleep overnight and I kept my maple on because I was leeching from someone. The next day in the morning I logged off and everything was perfectly fine up until then. I came back on at night time and the lag started occuring. What's weird is I'm using an FPS counter and I'm getting over 100 FPS yet there still appears to be some kind of video playback issue.

100 FPS and lag at the same time? That seems mighty wonky. ~f6
Uhm, are the drivers for the GPU up to date?
And do you have an integrated graphic card on your laptop? If so, you could try using that one instead of the GTX?
(Just throwing ideas around, hoping that by dumb luck something will stick. ^_^' Hopefully somebody more technically inclined will come to the rescue.)

Try checking your power option, maybe it's on battery saver mode by accident

100 fps and lag hmm. Is this client-sided?

I tried checking to see if my graphics drivers were out of date but everything was updated. I also tried running it on my integrated gpu but that didn’t really do anything. I’ll double check the power options but I don’t think that’s the case either because I get lag when I have my laptop plugged in too. I think it has something to do with the client but if the client is working for everyone else then I have no clue. I appreciate all the feedback guys!! I’m wondering if any GM knows how to fix this.

Okay so this is what I've come up with.

It looks like something's going on in the background that is causing the system's thread scheduler to not behave correctly in some way, so it may very well be possible that your installation of Windows got messed up somehow, and the way Maple's client works makes those issues more apparent (since Maple is very CPU heavy).

If this is indeed your case, the way to fix it would be to do a fresh installation of Windows (link for Win 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10startfresh)

    Hope this helps!

Expanding on what Sof said, you can try a few repairs that might fix the issue as well.
Maybe try testing after running each one and see if there was a positive change?
Open an administrative command prompt by searching for 'cmd' then hold Ctrl+ Shift while hitting Enter to run as admin.
Type the following without quotes 'chkdsk /f /r' and hit enter. Type 'y' and hit enter when prompted, then reboot.
I know that running /f and /r may seem redundant, but it doesn't take any extra time. If you watch while it chkdsks and it gets hung up on a certain %, that means it's working.
When done, open another admin command prompt and type 'sfc /scannow' and hit enter. Let it run. After that try 'DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth'.
If all else fails, download an up to date ISO of Windows with the Windows Media Creation Tool, and try running it within Windows to do an in-place reinstall.

Just wanted to say that I've also been having this issue. I've tried a slew of fixes but I can't seem to find the issue. Even did a fresh install of windows, tried using various mice and keyboards to see if that was the problem. One time I started the game and the issue didn't occur. I don't know what caused it to disappear immediately after that it started to do this weird stuttering again.

Also, does your audio also screw up during the stutters? Along with the frame drops, the audio also freezes creating a lot of static.

@treezzz I did have a lot of audio issues too in the past as well but I'm not sure if that was Royals related or not. To be honest, the problem I used to have went away but I still have no idea how it was fixed. I played the game back in March and I took a break shortly after making this post. I started playing again in July and the problem was fixed by then. I think what might have fixed the issue for me was by updating drivers on my laptop.

That sounds like it is most likely a CPU issue. What processor are you running? It could be spiking in voltage, and that would cause these issues.

I found this thread while encountering the same type of issues. Here is what worked for me:

The problem for me was related to something getting messed up with my Graphics driver. I had briefly entered fullscreen mode in Royals and then went back to windowed. It seems like the act of going fullscreen (alt+enter) sent some signal to my display that started the issue; something was causing Royals to stutter horribly. Disabling G-Sync/FreeSync for "windowed and full screen" somehow fixed the issue. My guess is this wasn't entirely the issue but the change flipped a switch somewhere in the driver.

    My resolution:
First, close any instance of MapleRoyals.
Second, go to the NVIDIA Control Panel and change your settings.

    To get to that menu:
    1) Right click your desktop
    2) Select "NVIDIA Control Panel"

    3) If your monitor is G-SYNC/FreeSync compatible, you should have the following setting available:
    upload_2021-3-15_9-56-27.png
    4) You could try just disabling G-SYNC altogether, or just switching it between full screen and windowed.
    upload_2021-3-15_9-57-15.png

Try launching Royals! Hope this helps somebody encountering similar issues. If you don't have G-sync, you may be able to trigger a similar switch by adjusting your refresh rate or monitor resolution.

i have the same issue, mostly when I start up a 2nd client it start to stutter
its not really a lag or internet connection issue since I tried to monitor everything when it occurs.
This should be an CPU issue all along
I didn't have the problem on my old machine running a i7 7700k

This kind of Stutter only happens now if I multi client on my new machine

    I have an i9 10850k slightly overclocked at 5.2ghz
    Everything runs smoothly except royals.
Even went to far and removed the OC but no change
Gpu driver is the newest btw.

If you are only having issues after launching a second client, please read this thread : https://royals.ms/forum/threads/experimental-ht-crash-test-fix.161831/

Thanks for the Tip, sadly this didn't improve anything for me.
Since Update 70 you cant replace Sound.wz right?

anyways this Stutter issue is only when launching more then 1 client, regardless of install folder or 1024x768 / 800x600

as soon as I boot up a 2nd client it start to stutter =/
