so everyone should be aware of the recent change here that halved the effect of luk on avoid, what is worst is I just recently spent all my fund to wash and leech up a new NL as my new main and I have spent everything. Now with the new nerf, my level 135 low dex NL is getting much more hit from mobs from ToT and from zak as well and this makes feel really bad for just achieved my bossing level and is nerfed from bossing immediately after. from the dev perspective, I believe they have no intension to revert this change since forcing player to start new meta is probably what they intended. Quitting will be my last option here, I am looking for suggestion of a dps class to change from experienced player in the server. I am wondering should I start a corsair (which is current strongest dps and I worry if it gets nerfed, again) or a BM instead? BM have SE, so even if it get nerfed SE should probably still essential in all boss party I guess. Any thoughts?
I understand that it is discouraging to hear your bossing character got nerfed just after you got it ready. Your char is only level 135, though, so maybe you could try to do a few more boss runs before you call it quits? As you level up your avoid stat will also improve, so you won't be pushed around as much, even with the nerf. If you really want to play another class, corsair is pretty strong with their boat, but it requires getting the hang of mounting / dismounting for maximum efficiency. That might be fun, if you are up for that. SE is always a wanted party buff, and hurricane is quite good DPS, so BM would be a smart choice as well (MM are cool, too!). With the recent changes to weapon cancel / crash, you could also make a paladin. They are much more wanted now. You will have to learn elemental weaknesses of mobs, though, to make the most efficient use of your skill set. Pallies also have stance! So you won't be tossed about like a dish towel, even if you have low avoid.
You've been here less than 2 months and haven't played end game at all, I think this is a bit of an overreaction. It sounds like your main concern is bossing viablity, I don't think you need to be worried about nl losing that, especially with pink bean being on the horizon (and with dr which is gonna meme on hurricane / rapid fire if there isn't a preceeding animation).
Play whatever you want m8. NL might be less viable, but I think you'd enjoy the game more if you play the class you like rather than whats viable for bossing. No reason you can't keep the NL for that bossing itch and play something else entirely.
So you want to quit because you get hit more often? Why waste your funds over that it is a bit of an over reaction
The only difference between NL pre and post nerf is that you have to press the left or right arrow key occasionally to reposition after getting hit. The damage loss is not as significant as people are making it seem on the forums. You're still going to be the highest single target damage dealing class in the game if you have SE and decent funding regardless of the avoid nerf.
yeah I too think I am overreacted to this changes lol but really I spent quite a lot of time / mesos to get my NL ready and here comes the nerf. But I say "quitting is the last option", maybe my english is bad I just want to say that I am not quitting yet. Getting hit more often really affect my experience on playing NL here, not sure how other people think but I think I might just make a new class, that is why I posted this thread here for advice on new class to play. p.s. this forum account shows I joined less than 2 month but it do not mean that I only played for 2 month.
I say keep playing night lord dont let this change get you down! If you play corsair or bm you would get hit even more just adapt with the changes Nls are still on top even if you have to move a little more now! plus you already got your funds so why not right? Alot of people would love to make a nightlord but fundings prevent them! Be happy you have the opportunity to experience the class the way the meta dictates.
I see, btw thanks everyone that commented their thoughts, I guess I am not able to start off a washed bm / corsair atm as well, will stick to my NL for a bit.
Trying a different class might be a good experience. The moment you try Corsair and attempt Horntail for the first time, you might find the urge to revive your dead NL. It's still the most Netflix friendly class after all.
NL is still strong. Thief is still the class with highest avoid. The nerf merely changed NL from 'one hand playable' to 'two hands mandatory'. If you get annoyed by NL getting hit frequent, oh man, trust me, do not even try BM or Corsair.
Bucc is very OP atm, amazing DPS, 2 party buffs (SI+TL), easy to wash, only 1 weapon to perfect, actual stance, I'd say it's the best attacker class rn all things considered.
The only thief who really got affected is shadower, this reduce their stance chance and it reduce dps in boss like HT as you need to climb back onto the platform every time you got knock off it. NL isn't affected as much, at worst they have to move around as much as BM and MM, still better than Corsair. You only see people vocal more about NL because it is the most popular bossing job and they have pissed since NL have been nerfed sometimes already. Shadowers is thief too you know, they exist.
Night lord still has the most base player power from damage, maneuverability, and ability to keep attacking your target. You are the only class with the fastest type of flash jump. Having less avoidance is most felt during HT when getting knocked off of high platforms, which every other class has more trouble with compared to NL. More balance between the classes is better for the game as a whole. If you just want to play a character that is the god of everything, I recommend finding a game that isn't based on a variety of classes. edit: to answer your question you can find DPS rankings in a stand-still environment here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/pirate-king-krexels-2nd-eye-dps-tests-bucc-and-sair.145069/ test is from several patches ago but is still fairly accurate.
The point of nostagia servers is party play. if you really like the job but end up playing alone and no party want you, better play offline. Better balance between as if you don't really like the job, it is easily to feel burn out. I won't suggest bucc. Last month I was afraid that Shad, Pala and bucc will get a nerf. 100% people will just laugh and said I'm overthinking. Now ser what happen to Shad and Pala. Bucc is next.
Play MM, play a class that can’t be nerf anymore, no problem. Back to topic, what about a Sair, am always looking for more Sair friends.
I stopped playing bucc when i realized I would never be able to see my NX/RP items at all while I play. If they fix that i'll come back to it
