Many of the players came to play MapleRoyals because they want to experience the Maple before it was messed up by the Big Bang patch, so I think by adding Thailand and Shanghai back to the World Tour will draw more players to MapleRoyals and therefore make this game more sustainable. I sincerely hope that my suggestion will be seen by the GMs of MapleRoyals and they could do something about it, thank you.
No. Magatia was added in after more than a year of discussion, and it's only one version ahead of royals (v63). ToT and Ulu addressed things that were actually needed - grinding spots for higher level characters who aren't bishops. These areas are not nostalgic. Myself, and a number of other players quit the game long before they were introduced, and they don't address any pressing content needs. We don't need to be adding towns just for the sake of adding them - we already have too many areas that simply aren't used.
nope, I don't even know those towns. As I said before the only thing missing could be mu lung dojo quest.
I'd love these additions to the game, however I don't think it should be a number 1 priority. Also, isn't the main point of Royals to bring back the "nostalgia"? Though this factor can be debated, I don't really think its the maps that are the main factor that brings back players but a more "balanced" system with no potential and just scrolls. I'd love to go back to Shanghai and kill that terrifying boss centipede though
I think areas that were added in the older versions of Maplestory (doesn't matter whether it was in KMS, JMS, CMS, MSEA or any other server) are fine. As long as it was balanced for that version of the game, I don't mind. That's why Ulu City was added. It came out a really long time ago in MSEA but wasn't added until v0.9x in GMS, so GMS players won't find it very nostalgic. This is why I think Kaede Castle (among other areas) should be implemented into the game.
I'm in favour, but the mob spawns may have to be tweaked to make it more attractive Those level 60 snakes in Thailand give 230 exp (920 here) and would be a good alternative to gs2 for non-mage classes/bandits Also, I think the black wool from the Christmas event is the same that the black sheep drop, so some wz magic would have to go on there I'm also in favour of Kaede Castle, but the eye acc INT and shield Att/Matt might have to be removed from mob drops because of the economy
+1 I'd really like to experience Shanghai again. I've only played on MapleSEA and Shanghai was available just after Aquaroad came out. I remembered when I've always slacked there with my buddies at the Air balloon ^-^. How nostalgic. And as how there aren't many people that are familiar with the Red envelope event (or at least the concept xD), I don't see why not that we shouldn't experience other culture's OR other people nostalgic experiences! And personally I never found NLC very nostalgic. I think it definitely wasn't added before Shanghai. EDIT: Not to mention they removed Shanghai afterwards Also if it's cool, maybe Taiwan night market? Always wanted to see that xD
Rates can be tweaked to give new area a fighting chance to compete with other popular areas. I'd be for this new area if this doesn't impede with other updates that are along the line or planned for development.
Red envelope event happened a couple times in GMS. Not sure about EMS. NLC was added in v.40 in GMS, and expanded twice (added mansions and added forest) before v62 in GMS. I can't find any information on when Thailand or Shanghai were added to GMS, but it was later than singapore, which is only 1 patch old in v62. What area/level range doesn't already have competition going unused? Low levels? plethora of places. Like 50% of all maps. 50-70? LMPQ, GS2, FoG, map before himes, GS5, all the new magatia maps. If you want to tweak rates, KFT and Mu Lung. 70-90 is the strongest argument, as it's dominated by wolfspiders. Still, go "tweak rates" on deep ludi or aqua road which are 95% as good (or actually better, for certain classes), but just not as popular. 90-120? Remain at wolfspiders, go to himes, ulu, leafre, newts, hunt HH, or even go skele if you can get a party for it. 120+? Ulu and ToT were added specifically to account for that.
I have never played GMS. I did specifically said MapleSEA. So Shanghai and Thailand were added before Singapore for us in MapleSEA. Well I can't speak for Thailand but Shanghai was 100% before Singapore. And I might as well add that NLC wasn't added for us that played in MapleSEA until quite late. I believe (not entirely sure, also can't find info..) it was even after when pirate was added. And even if you did experience the Red Envelope, I have no recollection of this event, most likely because I had a different Chinese New Year event. And I'm not entirely sure if the people in GMS actually knew what the event was about @.@. To top it off, not only is there GMS, EMS and SEA people playing here, there are also JapanMS, TaiwanMS and many other people playing here. There are quite a few Chinese people here. I can't say for Japanese but I do have a Japanese buddy on my friend list. As we all played in very different Official MapleStory servers, I'd say it's only fair to let every respective different MS(es) players experience our nostalgia.
Well in my personal opinion, I think new content should be encouraged. However I'd rather see higher level PQ's such as the CWPQ, and if possible, a new grinding zone such as LHC <3
If they were balanced in SEA for pre .62 then I don't see the issue to why someone would say no to it. It's not like you're forced to go there anyway ~ Not all content needs to be for end game users, some just has to be nostalgic
@jmmainvi brings up a good point that ToT and Ulu were added to address end-game grinding despite it being much newer content. I was never introduced to Shanghai so I don't know anything about it (mobs, loots, quests, etc.) I agree that adding things just for the sake of more content is unnecessary but if Shanghai proves to be a good area for grinding and farming, then I don't see why not. Take a look at what happened to Magatia, people rarely go there because everything about it is subpar to what we currently have. Roids are a crappy alternative to FoG/GS2, Sand Rats are forgettable because it's easy as hell to breeze through the earlier levels, farming Helm for Ints are way better at ToT, and most of the quests don't have worthwhile rewards to invest in. With each additional content, it comes at a cost: server stability. At the end of the day we have to ask ourselves, is it worth adding Shanghai in exchange for server stability?
Additional content does not affect server stability... That's the biggest bull I've heard so far. If your theory was correct then adding Magatia would have given server stability issues, and it didn't. The only thing that seems to give issues atm is events where mass amounts of processing happens at the same time (ie king slime kill having to add a kill to the counter for 300+ players / server uptime of 24 hours where every shop resets). And my point stands: Shanghai holds more nostalgic memories than Magatia has, and is more likely to become a place to hang out for those who loved it. Not every content added has to be end game content.
Sorry, I inadvertently bunch events/contents together and our last 2 events both generated massive lag. If additional content doesn't lag the server, then I'm all for it.
