I just read that Linyah got hacked, noticed some other hacks this week.
I think a pin code after your username and password will solve this issue. I remember either GMS or EMS also had this.

I think it's a good idea but it'd be nice if it would be optional.

If I'm not mistaken, this was added to the client-side several versions later. I don't think this can implemented since it's not in the server's code.

Could also add Item Guard to the CS

First, a PIN code is more of a nuisance than anything else, not a security feature. Second, there is no evidence that Linyah got hacked, so I would not use that as the basis of an argument unless there comes a point the event is confirmed by staff.

True enough, most "hacking" cases in ANY game are actually incidents where someone either used the same login information from one site/game/server to another, or they shared their account information with a "friend". Aside from that, phishing links can also be a common culprit of account 'hackings'. Very rare do true hackings occur when the person has taken the proper security measures for their account.

Personally, I hated the pin code. I have a VERY very hard time remembering numbers of any sort aside from my birthday, but using a birthday for a PIN is just as bad as using the word "password" for your password.

No reason to add a pin since it's so easily hacked imo. A PIC code upon character selection maybe, or forcing people to have more secure passwords when registring accounts. Also you could make people change passwords every 6 months.

There are other post that are confirmed, this one for example
    http://royals.ms/forum/threads/account-hacked-and-items-mesos-nx-missing.19102/
But in my opinion, making it harder for hackers is enough reason on its own. Which makes the Linyah sitaution just a side argument.

I don't know if PIN will solve the issue. Figured it might. But the Item Guard seems like a very good option to me, which would make it impossible for hackers to trade the items to their own char. Although I would put a ~1month timer on the item like, since otherwise I think most people would skip the Item Guard because they might wanna sell the items later on, which therefore doesn't solve anything

Maybe try and use something like Google Authentication whenever someone else is trying to access your account.

As someone said earlier, PINs will not enhance security. PINs are just another piece of information which is very easy to phish and obtain. I don't like putting on my expert hat but I work in information security for a living. The biggest threat we see is phishing. People thinking something is legit and it turns out to be a virus. People thinking the message is supposedly from a trustworthy source but is instead spoofed, the list goes on. At the end of the day, setting a PIN would only create another step when logging in that would annoy many and give others a false sense of security when that's far from the truth. Your best defense is to use a password with mixed cases, numbers, and symbols. My password is 11 characters long and would take 4000 years to be cracked. That along with my paranoia ;) is the only security necessary to protect my account.

well i mean i dont think all of it is sharing info and phishing
that being said if it was optional i wouldnt have used a pin in the first place, and still probably wouldnt even after being hacked l o l, just cause theyre so annoying

The PIC code can be brute forced easily unlike your password. It's much easier to crack your PIC than if I was trying to crack your password.

Or you could have a better password and watch which site you go to.

Hi, I have another account which I forgot it's security pin, so I can't login. Is there anyway to reset the security pin?

You just follow the same method as if you've forgotten your password. This link https://royals.ms/forum/threads/password-recovery.58313/

You only need a good password and done. Also changing it every few months help if you are that paranoic.

Dont know how trustworthy it may be but random ize has a password cracking estimate HERE

EDIT: There is also this one: https://howsecureismypassword.net
