Clarification on forum's profile information

Yesterday, I received a forum PM from @Dave Deviluke to modify my forum profile information as it apparently contained inappropriate words. This is the PM:



I agree that "BabiKambing" might not have been too appropriate as it meant "pig goat" which in the context of Singapore/Malaysia, might be seen as insensitive to the Muslim community (although to be frank, my IGN wasn't meant as an insult to anyone?), so I've modified it. However, I refused to change my guild seeing how it was a legit guild that I was in, see SS:





So my question to Staff is, why was my guild info removed? What rule did I break? Because I clearly wasn't impersonating Staff if that's the reason why it was removed.

Edit: Just to make it explicitly clear, I'm not trying to pick an argument with Staff. That's for another thread (if situation ever calls for it). This thread is purely asking for accountability and reference to which rule I broke. As a former staff of ~4 years, I'm sure I didn't break any.

 

Gonna throw this in there because I was part of the discussion in discord that spawned this thread...

• The NotStaff guild was a fun side project Staff had going- it's by no means "official" like the "Staff" guild is.
  
• Ex-staff that were in it were, understandably kicked (as any guild has the right to kick members they want)
• This shouldn't be moderated, because we don't go around reporting/editing guild info on other guilds, why is this different? I could put my guild as Rogue or Oblivion, they can't report me and make me change it.

Can't believe I'm going to make this argument, but if Kai isn't allowed to just put whatever in his profile (not even "Staff" mind you, that I would understand), then no staff should have control of "unofficial" threads such as the Community Blacklist, which I was "gently" pushed to give up when Staff by former staff because it was a conflict of interest, as it wasn't an "official" or "supported by" Staff thread. I did so, and it's now back in the hands of Staff (which, MIND YOU, I don't mind).

The street goes both ways here. Either there's freedom for former/present staff and players, or there isn't.

"Babi" and "NotStaff" has literally 0 correlation. Whoever thinks that it creates a false impression that Staff is okay, has to get checked because he/she is thinking way too much.

I agree regarding sensitivity which is why I have it changed to my legit IGN, NotKaii. But again, it has no correlation with "NotStaff" simply because NotStaff is a not an officially staff-endorsed guild, and it shall and should be treated like any other normal guilds.

The reasons provided to me so far seems to be stretching very far, and it appears to me that it's nothing but a poor attempt to penalize me for pretty much every aspect of my presence on the forums (which I totally get, I mean which "government" wouldn't want to shut up the opposition, right? That's how I'm interpreting this situation as well). I'm pretty sure someone in Staff brought this up, otherwise there's no reason why you had to ask me to remove it. It'd be great if that someone can explain himself in this thread, because it's just pure 100% pathetic hiding behind a forum mod.

I have my IGN shown as YouDontCB since I joined forum until I changed it recently. As a Singaporean I believe you know how rude this word is. I have joined a few guild with SG/MY playerbase. None of my guildmates felt insulted about this (I believe? At least it doesnt cause me any drama).

I do understand that Babi is an extremely sensitive word but as Kai said

So, did anyone report it? Or did someone in Staff just ask "is this offensive should it be changed" and you (guys) went from there?

After it's been asked to be changed is too late to ask for the community if it's offensive enough to warrant the change- it's circular.

 

This, again, is still stretching too far. I set the IGN way before the fasting period. And the word "babi" itself isn't considered an insult, imo. As long as it's not used against any Muslims, which I did not. It's literally just a word, y'all need to take a chill pill about it.

If there's any Muslim players that feel offended they should have directly reached out to me (and honestly speaking, I don't think they care because they're not snowflake). However given the context of your PM, I feel that no one actually reported me for it, and it was a member of staff instead. Given that only you and Chee are the only SG/MY staff (meaning it would be safe to assume no other staff know the meaning of "babi" unless they had a reason to google it, and I believe you both are considered more level-headed among staff, it makes me ponder who is the one that initiated this move, and for what particular reason.

I have seen a lot players still bypassing this word as their IGN by using homophones or in other dialect. Are these IGN also bannable?

I am sorry that I have zero knowledge about measuring or quantifying the offence level, perhaps you could elaborate more about this part?
